SQ22: From Singapore to New York - Longest NONSTOP commercial passenger flight with Airbus A340-500

- See the whole flight from Singapore to New York Newark on SQ22. It s the longest commercial passenger flight of the world, operated by an all-business-class Airbus A340-500. From Changi to New York the flight time was about 18hours. As we wanted to depart we had a technical problem with the TCAS, so we went to the gate again, waited there about three hours to depart again. We then got a new routing, directly going over the northpole. See the whole flight - PAssenger announcements, Takeoff, climb, descent, Landing, all the meals, the business-class of Singapore Airlines, window-views and all the atmosphere this memorable flight had.... Enjoy!
Aircraft was A340-500, 9V-SGE

Its just amazing how these engines can fly 18 hours and produce 25,000 pounds PLUS + of thrust per engine continuously the whole time. Amazing
Dude, THE A350-1000 CAN PRODUCE 97,000 POUNDS OF THRUST AND CAN FLY FOR UP TO 20 HOURS+
These engines produce a max of 60,000 I believe so continuous will be 50,000+
That's Pratt and Whitney for you !! XD

This was 3 years ago and I have watched it several times! Well done to the flight crew- Captain Simon Pragasam and team and I hope they are all still flying ( may be the A380). Thank you for posting this video, it's great!
Now this is 9 years ago. 😁
How are you doing Human being ?
Now 10
40:30 Takeoff roll begins. You're welcome for those who didn't want to wait 40 minutes.
Thanks

thank you
every time i've been on a plane i love watching the map that shows where the plane is located at that moment
Well, whoop-de-do Forest Gump!
Amtrak has that too
So do I
@@jackgamble6120 ??
@@alvexok5523 Ok, ok. I admit that I like to watch traffic lights change colors...especially at intersections so that I can see each side changing. Sometimes cars honk at me because I get caught up being mesmerized by the changing colors.
I miss flying. I took it for granted before the age of Covid for sure.
Same
Lmao 57:00 "After lunch I had a nap for about 5 hours" . That's not a nap , that's a full night's sleep ! 😄😄😄
The roaring but soft engine noise is really characteristic of Airbus Industries, simply love it!
WOW. A perfect landing in New York. Respect to the pilot.
Thanks for the video! I watched the whole thing, even the extremely long taxi. It felt like a real flight, I did fall asleep for about 25 min, woke back and we were still flying. lol. On landing I was relived.
Does anyone notice that this video helps people with air-phobia? I suffer myself from it and watching this video helps to relax. If I decide to fly some day, will watch this video fully until I get on board.
Very true. I go through air phobia myself and its not pretty.
I'm taking a trip in April to New York, and I'm sure if I should go, but this is calming.
Im watching this and in a few mins goin on a plane to Las Vegas so yeah this will be exciting
Illuminati how was it
I don't fear flying but I hate being locked in spaces I can't get out of. Flying poses huge issues for me that I wish I could overcome 😢
This is actually the best flight video on UA-cam.
I did the same flight on the same aircraft back in 2001. I returned on 9V-SGB from LAX. Thanks for the memories.
WOW, AN HOUR AND 46 MINUTES OF TWO MOTORS AND A WING. I COULD HARDLY SET STILL.
A lot of people complaining about the length of the video, but personally I like it. I like listening to the sound of the engines!
Ivan Malvov absolutely!
+Craig Tait That engine sound makes me sleep for some reasons.
+Craig Tait I doubt you like listening to rumbling for more than 1 hour. If you do, go outside and do something
Jonas Bichara Its not something i'd do randomly during the day. It wait til night, when im feeling tired, then put my earphones in and listen away. It helps with sleep. Whether you understand that or not.
+Craig Tait i'd love to try that Craig. Where do you get a disc with those sounds?
Actually, that was a fascinating initial 25 minutes drive around the airport. I admit I fast forwarded, but nevertheless, gave a real feel for the situation and the surrounding traffic. I am still trying to grapple with 18 hours in the air. Air travel has come a long way since we first flew the Atlantic in 1971, in the very early age of the 747. I still remember looking out our window seat and watching the huge engines swaying back and forth on take off. Wanted to also note the landing footage was great, with the shadow converging in across the highways as the plane set down, one heck of a smooth landing, kudos to the captain.
Polar route looks so awesome to fly on. Going from the tropical to the polar, see tropical weather all the way to sub zero weather. Awesoem
Love the sound of that jet engine after take off.
In 2008 I did a 17hrs non-stop flight from Los Angeles to Bangkok on Thai Airways. I cannot imagine a 21hrs flight. 17hrs was torture!
this was amazing to watch, thank you for taking the time to video your trip. I love watching take offs.
I watched this video 7 years ago ,it is the reason I like aviation. Thanks for sharing !
Fantastic! Shame Singapore Airlines cancel this flight route due to fuel cost. 21 hours on a A340-500 sounds great! Well done on a perfect video. Really enjoyed it. Thank you.
+danny1966 I do believe that just a few days ago, SIA announced plans to restart this route using A350s in 2018.
They are mate. Singapore to New York this time not Newark.
+diablolrm90 Yes, this is true.
The longest nonstop flight deserves the longest taxiing.
+Ridwan The taxi was half of the flight lol
Dampy10
I would say !! XD
yes, thats true. :-) But I am glad it came that way. very special flight to me
i have only flew once (and it was a pretty short trip of half an hour) but i love flying and learning about airplanes. i love this videos because they make me feel like im flying and also they help me appreciate the wonder of human engineering and kwoledge. thanks for the upload :)
Great job on the video!!!! Camera was nice and still and enjoyed seeing the screen shot of the flight progression. Thank you for sharing......enjoyed it very much!
just makes me feel like as if I'm going somewhere by plane. my favourite mode of transport is aircraft!
this the best calm and safe flight i've ever seen in my life . it makes me remember a flight with a Boeing 747 : the flight was arround 6hrs 30 mins and every passenger really enjoyed it :D
Most of the fuel was used in taxiing around Singapore airport
Sean Budge hi 8
You'r going 10,000 Milea @ 41,000 Ft in 24 hrs. Still complaint, complaint.. Learn some decency idiot.
@@dans.6525 its 36.000 ft not 41.000ft
Ha ha

Awesome Takeoff with those roaring engines then through the clouds. Thank You
Fabulously smooth landing too. How wonderful. Thank you for sharing.
I felt I was in that flight, wow! good job👍
Thank you Dairx for this amazing and very well done video!! A true long trip between the east and west.
you re welcome
Been watching this for about one hour, can't believe it, but it's actually relaxing if your someone who thinks alot, you gotta just be patient at the start then go with the flow.
geez... it took so long to take off, I thought you guys were going to drive there!
Nomi Sajid I thought the same on takeoff :-)
+physandi Ya im pretty sure he knows that....... Graduate from Killjoke University?
+physandi This guy is a frequent flyer so I'm sure he knows the real reason. The guy made what they call a "joke" about how long it took off.
***** I live about 90 west of Orlando. They are really racking up the international flights there. Emirates just announced a new non-stop route there.
+Saud Al-Faisal Siddiqui Virgin Atlantic Dose fly MCO to Gatwick
There's obviously real no alternative, but I just can't see myself on a flight for 18 hours. I fly between NY and LA multiple times a month, and at 6-7 hours, that's about all I can take
If it's in luxury i am sure it is easy to handle ;)
I flew from Manila to Dubai 9 hrs.
JoeyandLindsay layovers mate
Tampa to Rabat, Morocco
I thought my flight from Birmingham UK to Bangkok was long. I dont know how you people travel so much i just get sick
We enjoyed your video!
You're siting in a chair in the sky, going 500 mph, eating high class cuisine. Amazing.
SelfReflective well if they gonna stuff people in economy class for 18 hours...
I took this flight and one of the most enjoyable I have ever taken. SA was amazing. The time (surprisingly) just flew!
A friend of mine who travels to Singapore frequently on business, and lives there during our winter, swears by them. I have heard by the grapevine that they offer foot rubs and other comforts on these long flights. That should help in preventing or reducing the risk of thrombosis and related ailments.
Wow.... That's an amazing video.... felt like being there myself. Thanks a lot, DAIRX
you`re welcome
Tarwa
Can't believe I actually watched from start to finish in real time.
I may now have some sense of how READY you were for this flight to be over!
Wonderful video. I loved it so much! Liked and subscribed! :)
I love these videos, they make feel like I'm traveling! Thanks for sharing and please make more.
i watched from start to finish. nice filming. it was -61 F sometimes. wow!!! i love planes, and traveling.
A splendid and healthy video, thank's for your patience.
Flying has totally changed since the days of DC 3's, fokker friendships, HS 748's,727's & 707's. Man !! It's a great kick !!
A TCAS failure before a 20 hrs flight, oh no :D
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Simply amazing! Thanks for Sharing!
Easy to be narky on this video. But each time it gets better. Really takes me there. Love the QANTAS A380 takeoff. You made a nice one.
i watch the whole video omg now i wanna go to new york to visit.

ME TOO
Thanks for our record at the archive. Need to getting on important views in the history. Great flight in the sky between Singapore & North America via Transpolar.
A superb video.
Feeling that I'm travelling
thanx for sharing
Very interesting video! (Although 40 minutes of taxiing isn't!). This flight has a rather slow climb rate because of the fuel load. My longest flight has been 12-3/4 hours - which is probably my physical and mental limit!
At about 30 mins into the vid i thought you was going by road lol
same with me 🙂
Great vid
great video!!
Singapore Airlines has very beautiful flight attendants :)
Delta the worst...
Bleistift ofcourse, my wife is an SQ flight attendant
MrTuca999 Ryanair though, or EasyJet! urgh
Bleistift to mumbai
No. I Was editing a video from my flight from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur the day before with brandnew Airbus A330 :-)
Thanks for sharing your experience. Looked like a nice flight. Great footage!
That landing was BUTTER!

I enjoyed it in all it's glory .. cheers for uploading .. .etc
I'm tired from watching that flight. i can only imagine doing it. Thanks for sharing.
By the 2018 SQ will resume this non-stop flights with the brand new A350-900 ULR
The Moon because you were wrong
The Moon it's true, they will resume it october 2018.
Time flies!. Its beginning in 3 days!
Capri Flyer how does this plane have this kind of range
take off begin at 40:45
Spectacular video my friend!! I have subbed;)
Just a beautiful plane ride, great job!
outside air temperature -52*C... Wow, nice cooling for the engines:)
+szymusiek1980
That's the standard at this altitude
apples
They replaced sq21 with sq25 . So instead of flying directly from newjersey to singapore it takes of from jfk to frankfurt and after a short stop it flyes to singapore . Its 17465 kilometers . 2 thousand km more than sq 21 but with one stop . I like this one better . More airmiles more rewards!!
they replaced it with A380 ?
Eren Yeager yes yes absolutely i forgot to mention that . Thank you .
Eren Yeager SQ has a deal with Airbus. The airline is adding several A380s and A350s to its fleet, but the older A345's are essentially traded in (Airbus takes them back). They simple do not have the efficiency airlines want.
Jeez, all those ships on departure... thanks for this vid.
They were anchoring off shore, still happens now.
BEAUTIFUL ! Thanks for sharing !
do they do this flight anymore? im thinking about flying it on my flight simulator but i want to know if they even do this flight anymore.
thanks
Nope
No, but it will be resumed in 2018.
They stopped doing the A340 version in 2014, and then November last year they started flying it again with the A350
Since 1 March 2016, the longest non-stop scheduled airline flight is Emirates flight EK448 from Dubai, United Arab Emirates to Auckland, New Zealand, and its return flight EK449, at 14,200 kilometers (7,700 nmi). On 2 February 2017, Qatar Airways will begin nonstop flights between Doha and Auckland, making this flight the longest in the world. The flight covers 14,536 kilometers (7,849 nmi) and will be operated by Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.
have you seen, when this video was filmed and published? WHICH was the longest nonstop commercial flight at that time? You really want us to correct video headlines years after? Why can you all not think for a minute before nagging around?!
I have seen whatever you wrote and and that's the reason I started with the sentence .. SINCE 1 MARCH, 2016 ... ....... Oh!, neither i am nagging here nor I am arguing that it was the longest flight but the fact : now both the flight routes SQ21 and SQ22 were dropped and I just wanted to update people about that (which you should at a later date after uploading your video). However, once again, It is indeed an amazing video. Thank you.
SQ are bringing this flight back when they launch the 350 ULR in 2018.
Sorry ur wrong Since October till 2018 AIR INDIA will hold the tittle of Worlds longest flight.
and in 2018 SIA but both Star alliance member will hold tittle of worlds lomgest and second longest flights in world..puttin all cariers down.
Anuxi The 300ER suffers from short range even though it has one of the most powerful engines in the passenger jet industry. The GE90-115Bs have enough range but a bit too little for comfort since almost all flights have enough fuel for another 1-2 hours of flight after landing.
Great movie! Looked with pleasure. Many thanks for the done hard work!
Thank you so much for this video kind sir.
taxi is way long xD but i enjoyed it! Good Job!
I am wearing a pyjama when I travel next time. I learned lesson wearing jeans in long haul flight.
Ouch
Funny you mentioned that, I just put up a reply saying almost the same thing, pajamas if I could and with jeans climbing up your ass, been there done that!
The A340 was one beautiful plane.
Pretty cool video!!
Are we there yet
I've been wondering, how serious is the risk of vein thrombosis on a flight this long? I've heard stories about it striking frequent fliers on long-haul flights. Longest flight of my life was over 14 hours from LAX to Hong Kong. I felt a little tired but otherwise fine after getting off the plane.
DVT is a substantial risk on these flights. A little bit of trivia for you. These flights had a special compartment in the case of an onboard death. The long flight time is very hard on the body and with relatively few airports to land in case of emergency, this compartment was needed. It was installed on all the planes making this flight.
On this particular plane all seats had direct aisle access, and the seats were very large. Greatly reduces the risk.
Amazing Engine Sound !
Awesome video
56:11 I can hear One Day by Matisyahu in the background...
King without a crown would have made the flight even better!
true Adam Tombs
00:40 for takeoff
what pleasure to travel the longest nonstop flight on my favorite plane, nice video!
Omg thank u nice video
