- Gunship depicts one of the Western world's finest attack helicopters: The AH-64A Apache. This simulation recreates the weapons, flight systems, and performance of the real machine. The player controls an arsenal that includes laser-guided Hellfire missiles, a 30mm cannon controlled by helmet gunsights, clusters of bombardment rockets--even air-to-air missiles for duels with enemy helicopters. The game starts with flight training at a base in the United States. Tutorials teach the player to handle the copter; once the controls and flying skills are mastered, there are escalating challenges and hundreds of missions in any one of four regions of the world, including Southeast Asia, Central America, the Middle East, and the Soviet Union and its Warsaw Pact allies in Western Europe.

Didn't realize how much imagination I had used when playing this. At the time the graphics seemed to be amazing and the gameplay seemed lifelike.😂
I just had the same exact thought before coming to comments, lol - this game used to seem so realistic haha - im gonna look up F19 Nighthawk next - (i think it was F19...maybe F117 - these games were awesome)
Yeah, the graphics looked way better in my nostalgic memories of the game than the actual game😂
I played the shit out of this game. Will never forget the night I was playing in Europe on the hardest level and was shot to shit limping back to base after completing both objectives and I was awarded the CMOH. Great memories!!!
Great game (as all Microprose games were), I loved it on the C64......Airborne Ranger was my ultimate favourite
Played the hell outta this game on my wicked fast Tandy 2000..
Man, the memories, I used to play the shit out of this game after school. Fun times.
Loved this game as a kid!
Yea man me 2, I also had f19 stealth I miss both of them a lot.
Oh man! Does this ever bring back memories! The sound, the CGA graphics!
I used to literally run home from school to play this game.
Try to convince a kid in 2019 that this intro music was kinda impressive.. :-)
Well on C64 it sound somewhat better as does the rest of the game. But the PC graphics are much better because you don't just have unfilled 3D grids. :)
Still have this game, The entire complete box, and the keyboard overlay.
LHX Attack Chopper was the best for me
the missiles look cool in this
Love the smell of EGA in the morning!
It smells like victory!👍🏿
This game reminds me of Super Huey II on the Tandy.
Its the 1980s so every level with mountains looks like the pyramids
awesome game! ty!
Had this on C64
So smooth compared to Gunship 2000 you uploaded earlier. Was the second game locked to 10fps on PC or something? I seem to remember both Amiga versions of Gunship 2000 were even worse, and ran at ~3fps
In gunship all objects are rendered as dots or flat square, that's probably why it's faster
Sadly the easily available versions don't work with the Dosbox. I have the game on the floppy disks, but I don't have floppy drive to get the original files (and not going to spend 30€ to get PS/2 adapter to ATA and to USB, with likelyhood fail) so I have license to game, and right to use any compatible copy (PC) to play game.
In the game I get to menu, but can't get any further as save games are corrupted.
Here's is my version same in this video try it out. start the game with sg_com or gunship.bat ignore start.exe - www.4shared.com/s/f9psKs4T8fa
@@thriftweedsdo you still have this shareable game? I can't get the link to work and I loved this as a kid.
@@TR-Mead Sorry my 4shared expired so i made new account here's the Gunship link - www.4shared.com/s/f9psKs4T8fa
@@thriftweeds Thank you for the quick response and new link!!!
Somehow inferior to the C64 version, even the rotor sound has no pitch variation.
I want to see the fan remake of it just like oolite or pioneer. While it's fun, 3d presentation is too abysmal for today.
What is your I 😞😑🙀👾
