I live in the states, and I discovered that my infant was calmer when she went outside. Therefore, I use to put her body directly in front of the windows so that she thought she was outside, and it calmed her. That was 47 years ago!
I used to be paranoid about it too but after research and seeing it on TikTok I realize that it’s quite normal for that side of the world and it’s actually good for babies 🙏🏽
Sorry butdid you State that : after research and seeing on TikTok? wtf Fffs! The People are so lost in SM it is NOW beyond funny. This statement is mind blowing
She is so cute, I just cant stand it. ❤ I love the way you respect Swedish culture, and the way your husband respects Jamaican culture when he visits. Your little chubster is so lucky to experience both cultures the hot and the cold.
It makes the most sense to me... Being outside is so much better than being stuck inside. Also you can see that where you guys live the air is fresher and cleaner... Plus you have a Nordic baby...she has to get acclimatised to where she lives... It's a win win for me.
I think it’s a great idea!! My son was born in Germany and we are American and omg when I took him out the day I got out of the hospital and went shopping in the snow he was born in January lol but he was hardly ever sick never had ear infections nothing!!!’ It’s a very good habit to start!! Ty for bring this to light ❤️
Over here in America, if you get caught, leaving your kids in the car while you're going to a store or anywhere. You could potentially lose your children
Hi guys I actually have been doing this for some time now with my kids. I live in Pennsylvania and usually when I would take the baby for a walk in the stroller, I would leave baby in stroller on the front porch once he was sleeping. Made sure he was nicely tucked in and warm. So, when I watched your vlog I started laughing to myself, because I’ve done this with all 3 of my kids.
You're living my dream life. 🥹 Beautiful Nordic winter paradise, gorgeous husband, adorable baby...sigh, God bless you all! Love watching all your videos
I understand your explanation of the benefits of the cold. I'm just wondering why mom & dad don't stay outside and take turns napping with the baby. It could be beneficial for the whole family.
At first when I saw this on your IG post I was shocked but hearing you explain it makes perfect sense. I am like you and wouldn’t like to leave the baby outside at a cafe or shop no matter how well they sleep. Thank you for sharing more of your culture. ❤
I remember being told by older ladies that if your baby is coughing a lot to bundle them up and bring them outside to get some deep cold soothing air in their lungs.
Yes, it's also common for Russians to do this. I even saw them dip a baby in a cold lake outside? DO they also do that where you guys are? It's also amazing! Thank you so much for sharing this. You guys are the best! And your baby is soooooo GORGEOUS!!!
Thank you so much for this video. Coming from a Southern Italian family, I very much understand how people from warm climates think the cold will kill us or make us ill 😅 But we live in New England in the US and when my son started to snowboard, I would have my baby daughter in the stroller (very well bundled up) at the ski mountain and I was shocked how warm she stayed and how well she slept! Blessings to your family ❤
Thanks for showing us a part of the Nordic culture, very intriguing. I can definitely see how beneficial it can be for babies. Going out in the cold and breathing the crisp air always makes me feel better so I can just imagine the benefits for the younger ones.
I am surprised i didn’t know it is a cultural thing there.I ave always expounded this holistically.I am an elderly and I splash with ice cold water. In my hot country .I used to buy ice to rub over me as I shower.
Oh my goodness, I would never have thought that sleeping in the cold has such benefits. Kudos to you both for embracing this experience with Aura. She's such a delight...her smiles lights up the eyes. Have fun in the wintry season guys. 🥰💛✌🏽
First let me say your baby is simply PRECIOUS... that smile 🥰❤! Second... I think you over explained Mommy. I understand why though. People have lived in even colder climates for thousands of years. I'm a black woman living in nyc and I understand culturally how some of us feel about "the cold" let alone "proper" baby care. I raised twins, they're almost 30 now. Best advice I can give is trust your own mommy intuition always. Everybody will get over themselves. She looks so happy and healthy. I wish I could've let my boys sleep outside when they were young. Congrats to you both!
Oh Such Joy! I stopped my work to get my dose of your Aura update! LOVE her smile! So much Cuteness! ❤ Thanks for sharing the cultural differences! Didn’t know this about sleeping outside in the cold weather! She’ll be prepared for BOTH environs - cold there & warm, sunny Jamaica. Enjoy! Cheers! P.S. - Ignore & don’t respond to any negative comments. Savor the LOVE & well wishes from your fans. 🎉🎉🎉
I am grateful that you shared one of the Nordic colture with me. Good practice for the health and wellbeing of children. God bless you all. Love and happiness.
I'm from Trinidad and I now live in the states. Every morning around 6 a.m. as long as it wasn't raining, I took my sons for a walk. The days that I couldn't take them for a walk, they were so fussy. Thanks for sharing.
Oh yes, my daughter's best sleep was us going on a walk when it was cold or just cooler temperatures and therefore I would go on walks for some hours and she would nap well 2.5 to 3 hours straight. She was the best rested and jovial after.
I loved seeing you do this because my son was born in October here in the US and I was always bundling him up and putting him in his stroller for a walk. Yes, he would fall asleep. My neighbors thought that was a horrible thing to do, but I grew up in the mountains of Pennsylvania where we had lots of snow and I lived to be outside. We had a nice sledding hill and my sister and I would bundle up, pull our little sleds, and off we would go. Our mother would always say, "I can expect Janet, back at the door within 1/2 an hour, but Joyce, (that would be me) will be out for hours sledding. If you do not ever live in those climates, I suppose you do have fears, but as a mother who did, I completely understand. Your little one looked like a little Eskimo tucked in her stroller in this video.
Thank you so much for sharing a page in your everyday routine. I read about this cultural practice but I thought that was an old world Tradition. I definitely see the benefits 🤗. When I taught school I made sure my students went outside in all weather conditions, of course dressed appropriately. This is in a northern USA state. I also passed that idea on when I became a mother and now a grandmother.
❤😊Whatever works to have a peaceful baby! I really believe this to be true, when I don’t feel good and be confined to the house , it takes longer for me to get better but, as soon I go I outside and breathe in that fresh air, I begin to feel better and this is proven for me each and every time. You guys seem to be great, loving parents doing what the best for there child and any parent should be able to respect that. I really Appreciate you allowing the world to be apart of your culture and shine a whole new outlook on the benefits of fresh air.
I live in the UK and used to put my baby outside in the garden that was 39 years ago. He was such a calm baby. Unfortunately I did not do this with my second baby 9 years later as we were living in a different house and there was a risk of fox attacks. It's perfectly health to do so as long as it is safe to do so.
Back in the day, in the 60's, it was popular in the US to put babies in their carriages and have them nap outside even in the middle of winter. Or sometimes just opening the bedroom windows in the winter . So I did it with my son in the late 70s also. Slept so well. And always healthy.
I love this story, thank you for sharing. Your wonderful parents ❤ Now I wish I could go back in time to try this with my daughter. She was a difficult baby to get to sleep. Your daughter is so beautiful and lucky to have you two 🥰 God Bless ❤ I wish I liked the cold because the way of life up there seems slower, meaning that not everyone is in a rush to get somewhere and I bet there’s a lot less dangerous people. I’d like to live somewhere that is like living 100 years ago. I’m in USA in a small state called Massachusetts on a small island called Cape Cod. I live beside the Atlantic Ocean. It’s hot and beautiful in the summer months, June-August, then from September-November we have Fall where the leaves 🍁 turn beautiful colors, then December-March it’s very cold. Then spring is April-June and the flowers begin to grow and blossom and all the birds come back. My grandparents and parents grew up believing the cold would make you sick. They were wrong. The cold has sooo many benefits for us.
Wow, I learned something new! In my country, this would be unheard of, but just from your child's smile and rested demeanor, you can tell it has positive benefits. Thank you for sharing this cultural practice.
What a beautiful family! Thank you for sharing this beneficial information! Cold therapy is becoming more acceptable in the Us, hopefully parents can experience this as well! Your baby is very blessed to be breastfed and cold adapted! Love to you guys! 💞
Very interesting. Enjoyed learning about the culture. I sleep better in the cold I don't run a heater in my home and have a window cracked in my bedroom for fresh air. People do polar plunges too. I understand fresh air is the best. Looks like you both are doing a good job raising her healthy. She's also adorable. Thanks for sharing. Marcia from South Carolina
Thank you both for sharing the Swedish culture. Beautiful clean fresh air is always the best for everyone. Kem & Alex, you’re both intelligent people who are doing your best in raising your beautiful Ari. Stay blessed!!❤❤❤
Kem, I thought that was so nice when you gave a shout out to your mum and grandma, it was such a personal thought. I had seen in an article about babies are left alone outside the cafe in Scandinavia countries, to me that was a no no, but as you said it is a culture thing. Gave Aura a kiss for me. Take care👣❤
Your videos are so inspirational and motivating. I will always watch them on and on. Non stop. Great content Alex and Kem. Keep up the good work. Love you guys. Your the best!!!
😊thanks for sharing this Kim and Alex..your baby is so beautiful..I'm always watching via UA-cam..I haven't missed any of your videos..going to support soon 😊❤
I have to say that I have been following you guys for some time now (thoroughly enjoy your vids). Well, today, I had the utmost pleasure of seeing all 3 in person. I was in line while you were taking care of business. It was really sweet that you Ken took the time for Aura to say hello to the little girl. Blessings for continued prosperity in all areas of your life. Made my day even though you didn’t know it.
Lovely family, baby is gorgeous ❤❤ This really does make sense. Dress child well , watch weather advisory. Children do best when they experience the outdoors .
She's so adorable, I saw this on a documentary and how the babies are left outside the restaurants, and I, of course, thought as first that they're crazy but no one bothers the baby not like here in the United States you would have the law there in a heartbeat, but as you said and I saw that's the re tradition and it works ...Oh that's a lot of snow it's so beautiful ❄️❄️ Stay warm ❤❤
In the Netherlands there are daycare centers with heated outdoor cribs. This means that the children are kept nice and warm with hot water bottles and blankets and a lot of thought has been given to supervision and safety. In countries such as Lapland and Greenland this is very normal.
It's the same way here in Germany, but our temperatures don't usually go as low as yours. The fresh air is so healthy for everyone! Enjoy your little one. She's adorable. 😊
I worked as a nursery nurse back in the day,In the baby room at the nursery we always put each baby into a pram ,then outside to sleep after lunch; this was in London England.
I believe this was the same practice back in the "olden days" . . I recall seeing and reading about babies sleeping out in the cold for the same exact reason. I personally sleep with my window open a bit in the Autumn and Winter seasons. I definitely sleep much better !!!! It's great to see how others cultures live and thrive. Thanks for sharing !!!!!
I knew a little something about babies parked out in front of Restaurants , while parents we inside eating, so I'm not surprised about sleeping out side, she looks so peaceful sleeping, Thanks For Sharing.
What a lovely video and a lovely couple. It was nice to find you again after a break of about 2 years. And now God has blessed you with a beautiful baby girl: congradulations!
I love this idea, because it has so many good benefits for the baby. I’m from the United States, so I thought what in the world is going on when I read the title. lol! However, she’s being closely monitored in a safe environment. I think it’s cool & she slept peacefully.
I am NOT @ all surprised @ this. As a Jamaican living here in Canada for quite a # of yrs., I’ve seen this done in some communities., & yes, it does work for them they would say.., so I say, whatever works., babies are resilient like that. Aura certainly is looking quite cosy & toasty right up in there. Quite a winter baby for sure in more ways than one.😃👌🏾
I remember my mom bundling me up as at 5 and putting me outside. We aren't Nordic - but black in Washington DC. I complained at first, but loved it and cried when I had to come in ❤
This is the first video I have watched on your channel. I subscribed! What could have been a .. who are these crazy people was portrayed in more like..."think about this? Makes sense? Doesn't it,'?"Cultures differ. I am 74. My mother Told me a story about what she was advised to do after I was born.. fresh air was good for a baby. We lived in NYC and we certainly get Winter temps , but moderate compared to what you experience. We lived in an apartment building and there was a fire escape. (look that up if you do not know) I was born in May and Winter sets in here by November. Under the advisement of the pediatrician she bundled me up in the carriage with plenty of warm layers and set me outside for a nap. As you do ,she sat right next to that window and watched me sleep and allowed her to check on me. I grew up fine and was not a "fussy" baby.
Of course she sleeps better outside, her body is accommodating for the temperature. Like when you out in cold like that and people freeze to death? They fall into a deep sleep
I have a neighbor that would do that park back by the window front door area I’m assuming she was watching lol. They lived in a court area. Love the fresh winter air 😊
As a child, my mother made me go outside when I was sick. The cold fresh air is medicine. I believe that. It helps to, obviously reduce fever, but the air helps you feel better. I thought as a kid this is a punishment. But id feel better after. Nothing wrong with having babies sleep outside. As long as you watch them like a hawk. I couldn't just leave them. It doesn't sound crazy. I bet she doesn't get sick quite as often? I need to live near you. I love cold weather!!😊
I've seen footage of baby carriages outside a restaurant or at market etc while the parents are eating/doing their shopping/ inside. I'm thinking that the health benefits are similar to why ice baths are a thing.

What a smile. Thanks for sharing this bit of Nordic culture with us. Have loved watching you both from you met in Ochi in Jamaica.

I just love this couple so much. They talk so calm and they look happy together

I love this and the keeping traditions going. Health benefits is a great reason to do this for your child and for yourselves.

Princess Aura looks so happy after her nap 😴 💤 outdoor in the cold.

I live in the UK and used to put my baby outside in the garden that was 39 years ago. He was such a calm baby. Unfortunately I did not do this with my second baby 9 years later as we were living in a different house and there was a risk of fox attacks.

I wish I liked the cold because the way of life up there seems slower, meaning that not everyone is in a rush to get somewhere and I bet there’s a lot less dangerous people.

I am age 64 now. When I was a baby my Mom put me outside in Winter to sleep for naps all the time, wrapped in wool blankets , It was 100% Normal.
Thanks for the lesson in swedish culture. Aura is the cutest...OMG 🤩
What a beautiful family! Thank you for sharing this beneficial information! Cold therapy is becoming more acceptable in the Us, hopefully parents can experience this as well! Your baby is very blessed to be breastfed and cold adapted! Love to you guys! 💞

I remember my mom bundling me up as at 5 and putting me outside. We aren't Nordic - but black in Washington DC. I complained at first, but loved it and cried when I had to come in
❤
It’s the culture in Sweden so go for it. I know your mom is thinking what are they doing to my granddaughter.
😂😂😂 for sure she is
This is the first video I have watched on your channel.
Here in England my Grandma did it. The baby’s would be cosy & warm & put outside in here back garden.😇💜🙏🏼💕
I’m just so happy seeing you guys in person today here telling and showing off my celebrities ❤❤❤lol. Enjoy I’m sure I will say this again once posted
Of course she sleeps better outside, her body is accommodating for the temperature. Like when you out in cold like that and people freeze to death? They fall into a deep sleep
Really appreciate the explanation...Good to learn about other cultures as well as more about ourselves...Blessings to your family🥰💞🙏🏽👍
Maybe you should join your baby outside in the cold weather for a nice warm nap. It just seems safer 😊
I have NEVER heard of this! Very interesting... thanks for sharing. She certainly looks beautiful, healthy and happy.
Remember having my daughter in Kingston she cried every night. But as soon as went to St Mary in higher altitude she slept day and night without cry!
I've seen footage of baby carriages outside a restaurant or at market etc while the parents are eating/doing their shopping/ inside. I'm thinking that the health benefits are similar to why ice baths are a thing.
I’m really happy to have you guys back with some new content 🙏🏾🔥!
I get it...even in the winter everyone should spend some time outside in the daylight in the sun for vitamin d.
You can see that Ara (sp) is so happy and calm after!! I would definitely try it if i lived in a cold place ❤
I think that’s beautiful, great job mom and dad❤
