Great game, great commentary. I don't know if it's too basic, but I realize that I level up my units way more than advanced players do. What's a common heuristic or rule of thumb that you consider when deciding whether or not to upgrade units?
I think the good players look at breakpoints. So leveling up the sledgies does nothing against the scorpion but the badgers get to survive a hit. I don't know the game that well, but I look at the comparison between levelling a random tank over picking an army wide armour upgrade or boosting the tower that's getting rushed down. Also getting levels on units that always die just means you feed exp to the enemy units that kill them.
Most of the time, don't waste upgrades on chaff units. Then it's just a matter of leveling effective units, your carries, and the ones that consistently deal damage, which you can see in the unit stats when you select it. Overkill is a thing in this game, so that could be a valid reason not to level single target DPS units if the situation doesn't call for it (yet). Also survivability can be a reason, like in this matchup between the Fire Badgers and the Scorpion.
@@EricMa-yq8vc scorpions are decent against them. Once badgers are on the field, start selling crawlers and replace them with fangs. If they invest in tech, match with scorpion techs

fire badgers are super strong, how do i counter them? one time i tried a 3 proned rhino push but they almost got insta melted by 3 squads of badgers.
