I quite often play 2. Nf3, 3. c3 to get a Ponziani-style set up (delayed Alapin), which I find quite useful and saves knowing how to counter a raft of different variations from Black...
@@andrewucla To be honest, I'd play it against any of those. The one move I don't like to face is if Black plays Nf6, targeting the e4 pawn - it can be difficult to defend with the c3 pawn blocking the knight's natural developing square.
@@marcoscabezolajr.8408Smith morra is easily avoided by black, and 1. e4 c5 2. b4 cxb4 3. a3 d5 4. exd5 Qxd5 5. Nf3 e6 is an easier position for black to play.
The moment I saw your video oh lord I tried it out😮 I was like a god in it cause the person fell for all of the trap😅. Thanks alot sir 😊 and the reason why I love it more is that it helps one sharpen their tactics ❤
A lot of young tournament players are aware of theses '"traps" and they do know the theory against the alapin variation. And the IQP (frequent situation in the alapin variation) is not an easy sitution for white.
Your videos are top quality and this one is no exception. However, everybody plays d5 or Nf6 vs the Alapin and you devote too little time to them, it is hard to find someone who plays Nc6. Please take this into consideration. Best regards from here!

No!!! NOOOOOO 😭 Don't show them my near guaranteed winning response to Sicilian. Ahhhh... Never rooted against the analytics for one of your videos before but I'm REALLY hoping not too many see this one. 😅
I watched all of your lessons now iam bored please made a new refreshing content. [ You made same opening/tactical pattern/gambit video many times and I watched all of these again and again ]

I play the alapin anyway... but now I can play it properly. Thanks!
It's always good to widen your understanding of an opening 🎉
My absolute favorite game as white, Sicilian-Alapin. They're the only games where the computer consistently rates me 2300+ and I always win em.

Which setups is that best against? 2. … d6, 2. … Nc6, or 2. … e6?

Hands down the only response to Sicilian in my book.
@genericalfishtycoon3853 what about the Smith Morra Gambit or Wing Gambit?

Great
Very helpful, excellent analysis. Thanks
Also, I need to stop playing the Sicilian!

I prefe ther Smith-Morra gambt. So many of my opponents have fell into its many traps...so much fun, why switch?
2:07 why not to block with the Knight? Nd7 ?
it makes your whole position passive and it blocks your development. past the 2000 level. its ggs for you
ok I get it now, But what's the defense for those moves? :3
@@ManosErikosKlapsakis dont take the pawn to begin with. if you do take. its better to go back to the starting square
