  • This is the last of the Bob Chester series. There were smaller segments from several railroads that Bob caught on trips away from his home area. I also found that I'd overlooked two Santa Fe segments that had not been posted in part 1, so I have used them to close with. Thanks again to Bob for allowing everyone to see these long gone scenes he enjoyed so long ago.

I miss those days! Every locomotive, caboose and rail car were eye catching with all the different colors.

sweet footage! The MoPac footage was probably my favorite part!
4:22 I like that shot of a UP passenger train leaving Topeka with freight added on the back!

Well done Jim, 5***** Those UP E8s must be pulling the "Portland Rose"

@BNSF7776 Thanks Sylvester. I couldn't say what the train was, but if if the Portland Rose stopped at Topeka, it surely could be. The UP station there had a serious fire in the west end many years ago. It's a beautiful building and they finally repaired the fire damage and now have it opened as a museum or other civic building. I need to get up there and look it over someday.

751-A is an F7; the "unusual white paint" is not unusual. It's actually a light gray, and the scheme is Burlington's freight scheme for covered wagons.

Wonder is maybe that Santa Fe passenger train at the end was, "The Tulsan"?

the last two passenger/mail trains were at Waynoka and Alva which are on the transcon that heads southwest. They wouldn't make Tulsa on that route, so I'd have to rule that out. thanks for watching
