I would then have to push Teledoc use on to employees for "convenience" and to avoid copays from big health insurance etc etc. Better Help was an add on service we could add on to our standard package. Teledoc and Better Help combo would cost the employer appx $5 per active employee. I would receive every month reports on usage. How many used the services, what was the complaint, what the outcome was, etc. These reports could be broken down by departments. So even though it was "confidential" I had departments with 1 person which also then exposed the employees issues. It really is unethical and not appropriate as some companies can use this info against employees.

Thanks for stating a more ethically way of getting mental. I was about to post the same thing but your statement as a mental health professional health means a lot. Thanks.
I've tried going local and it's impossible where I live. As soon as I get someone I like and work well with they just leave. It's hard for people with mental health issues to be thrown around through providers and medication. I'm not sure betterhelp is a good option, but local hasn't been a good experience for me either.
@@thegoodanfamily9817 working in mental health it’s important you always check out who you’re going to see and their credentials. I think teletherapy used properly can be a great tool in lue of face-to-face therapy. I work in a specialized therapy (DBT) that is in a lot of cases life-saving but is also limited in actual qualified DBT clinicians. Being able to be able to use a tool like tele-therapy can be life saving for many. So I don’t think it’s all bad.
Most the real therapists I have talked to are not trained for CPTSD. They treat long term trauma with the same treatment as a single event caused trauma. “Think back to that moment.” “Which one? It wasn’t a moment, it went on for years.” “Well, think back to one of the moments. Describe what happened in detail.” Then I relive the trauma while they don’t attempt to connect with me but instead just say “go on…” or “what are you feeling?” But never actually acknowledge the trauma or events. It’s so detached. This is what happens when your therapist gets certified through power point presentations and a culture that rewards random memorization instead of a contextual understanding.
Yeah F that. I stopped playing their games. There's just something inherently predatory about the concept of therapy, I think. I watch videos and write things out and have done neurofeedback which helped a ton. I really like Patrick Teahan on YT, he's really smart about CPTSD.
Yup. Been there! It's like groundhog Day! You just go in and have the same conversation over and over without any real progress! Job security for the "counselor" but hamster wheel for you.
I went to teal swans teachings instead. I never paid for a course just free videos and I bought a book. It really helped me. Much more than a random person recording what I’m saying while thinking about what they will eat for dinner.
Personally I hate the whole root cause thing, I know I'm not a psychologist or therapist or whatever but they're up almost never really is a root cause to mental disorder. At least for my observation with people. So just take this as personal opinion. If it was that simple it be easy to solve. My personal opinion is mental disorders are caused by a combination of things, like genetics/physical body, environment, events (but those are generalization) Usually isn't some single event (although that can happen) and being if you had trauma from one single it lead to more trauma later in life. But it may also be that they only want to treat one thing at a time. Making it simpler for themselves and possibly for you. Anyways I'm just random the person on the internet so. My opinion is just my opinion.
The fee for better help is $200. The influencers get paid $200 per person who sign up. It’s an incredible deal for these “influencers” but because the deal is so good no UA-camr dares question their integrity.
A couple of mental health channels that did videos explaining why they turned down betterhelp sponsorship got cease and desist letters and took down the videos rather than risk poking the bear.
I love him! I haven’t seen this sponsor yet from him but I’m sure I will. I’m not sure I can give him up, I listen to him when go to bed, helps me fall asleep. I totally agree though, no integrity these days.
@@CC-Gemini It was a while ago. I commented on the video when I saw. Since then I unsubscribed. As BJ says it's always your choice who you support. But after that, for me... no way.
BJ… I would love for you to dig into Travis Scott and the Astro world situation. I hate how no one is talking about it anymore! ps… great betterhelp video. I’ve always had my suspicions about what they do with the info users offer up to their “therapists.”
The clip of the girl demonstrating her experience with the sunglasses on was unfnbelievable! Can you imagine?! I hate that companies get away with stuff like this!
When she said they pulled their pants down it made me cry. I really hope they're not so deranged that they exposed themselves to her. The only thing i appreciate coming from any of this is the exposure of people who are put in a place of power; like doctor's, coaches, med aids-etc. etc. etc. who do not have good intentions & I really hope that some kinds of legislation &/or a database (that's maintained across a wide range of fields/ branches of service) something in place; that picks up on predatory /abusive behaviors, to more easily identify &monitor any/all variations of sickos &/or nasties; from being in any situation- where they can use their power; to prey on the more vulnerable members of our society, for their own sick gratification. And if they are ever in a position where they abuse that power- at all! that they're then put on an extensive probationary period, where if any more red flags/ abuse of power or abuse are seen, help make sure they're not able to continue their debauchery, no matter what field or position they may have had either make them change professions if necessary- whatever allows them to provide income for themselves &/or loved ones- BUT -- without allowing them unsupervised access to reoffend!
To me this is a pretty clear example of corporate America and the tech industry coming together to capitalize on the mental health "market" and the pandemic . It is particularly insidious for two reasons. 1. Since the pandemic more people have been looking for therapists than ever. 2. A lot of people live in rural areas where mental health care is limited. I attempted to find a therapist in early summer of 2021 and there were waiting lists of 6 weeks or more to talk to someone. It is hard enough to find a therapist that is a good fit for your needs as it is without a waiting list. These corporations are taking advantage of vulnerable people. The idea that a company could collect statistical data from therapy received only by THEIR employees is disturbing! Thank you for bringing awareness to this situation!!! I wonder if the same thing is happening with the "doctor on demand" companies as well?
I'm a mental health therapist (in the field for 18 years) and I really appreciate your expose on this. Most therapists I know think BH is harmful garbage. From our side of it, we get pursued aggressively to become a BH therapist and their compensation scale is so disrespectful You have to see upwards of 40 clients a week to make $60 an hour versus the $30 an hour if you wanted a reasonable schedule. Trust me, you really don't want to see a therapist who sees any more than 28-30 clients a week max.(imagine trying to hold 6+ hour intense discussions a day followed by clinical note writing, and sometimes crisis interventions). 20-25 hours is a sweet spot for most therapists to do excellent work and not burn out. And while, yes, there are bad actors in the therapy space (I worked with some, believe me I know) there are way more amazing therapists out there who worked their asses off for a decade and spent way more money than is reasonable to become a therapist in the first place. Chances are that if you encounter a "bad therapist" on Better Help, they were improperly matched to you and/or they are far overworked and undercompinsated. People complain about the cost of therapy, but paying a therapist a $40 copay or a $125 for an out of pocket session 2x a month for an in-person meeting with a happy well rested competent therapist who only sees 3 other people besides you for the whole day is a far better investment than $240+ a month for the hot mess described in the video.
BJ, thank you so much for exposing those who scam vulnerable people who are at their lowest point and reaching out for help. It’s so evil to pick on people with mental health issues. It’s already hard enough. There are nowhere near enough mental health professionals to meet the needs of our current and future society. A few months into the pandemic I reached my lowest low and decided to finally try and get help. I was set up with a psychologist and psychiatrist, both of whom helped me tremendously. However, they both eventually moved away. There are very few options left locally. However, I refuse to let any of the snakes behind these “online therapy” websites profit off of my suffering.
I was doing in person therapy through my employer. We got free therapy sessions. I soon realize that the person doing my therapy was also employed by my employer and I found that odd. Seeing that my employer is a HUGE entity. I stopped going. Then I tried Better Help for a day or two and it wasn’t for me. The therapist had me do worksheets and suggested i do what I was already doing-journaling, doing art etc to help with my anxiety, co-dependency. I stopped. It just wasn’t for me and I wanted face to face. Years later, my employer switched to Better Help. I haven’t heard of any co-workers using it. But I definitely wouldn’t especially now.
I am with you that from the time I heard about this company it seemed like a scam. They have been able to network w large companies to sell their services to employees but that still doesn’t make them not a scam.
On my first session with my found therapist I told her I was scared because I didn't know what was happening to me. She then went on to "diagnose" me with Autism (which she spelt wrong) OCD (I don't have OCD) and PTSD. On my first session. I left feeling more scared than when I entered.
That is crap, you shouldn't be diagnosing anything that quickly and unless you were a totally textbook case I can't see anyone saying autism after one session (usually involves multiple screening tests as well as in person evaluation).
I'm so glad you did this! I was considering them. It's the information grab for me. That's just terrifying if you are a survivor of something that's absolutely private.
After my long time therapist retired I have been on a wait list for 8 months to get into a mental health therapist that takes my insurance in NJ. To many people need help and not enough doctors that take medicaid. Forget in NJ anyway to see an actual Phychotrist because the 19 of them that I called in my area only take cash payments. All about the $$$$$ PS if you are in NJ don't dare tell them you are duel diagnosis because if you do they will only help you if you got 30 days rehab and 6 month outpatient follow up before they will take you as a patient. For those who don't know duel diagnosis is if you are a person with mental health issues along with drug and or alcohol issues.
We have a crisis with lack of mental health services in the US. There are 160 people on the waitlist where I go. My therapist has been trying to retire and they begged her to stay 1 day a week. I have been with her for 6 years, I will cry when she retires! My daughter had a mental health crisis and the 24/7 crisis hotlines in our area would not help because I have health insurance! I had to take her to the ER for help. She was one of the 160 on the wait list. Very sad people are turning to this Better Help 💩 for help. There really is no replacement for face to face therapy, and finding a therapist that’s right for you can be hard. Eight months is absolutely unacceptable.
@Kristen L. it is especially since I was tossed out only because mine retired. I'm still waiting and have no idea how long it will be. I call once a week to try and be a squeaky wheel but who knows how long I will be waiting.
I tried to get help through BetterHelp but their whole service was so sketchy even before I was assigned to a "therapist". I am glad it didnt work out.
It’s so hard to explain intuition to logic. Usually, for me, intuition is patterns that I’m seeing sort of subconsciously. I love the moment where I see it in full.
Sooo expensive too!! Professional face to face therapy is half that price here and 1/4 the price to see a counselor!! 🇳🇿 Their therapists did not even have to be licensed!! I opened the website to look and decided not for me....and got harrassed by email and text for not joining up!!! Crazy 🤯 Becareful peeps 🤨
Reason 103 why I have never tried therapy. A regular meditation practice, self-care, reading certain books have helped me waaaay more from a practical sense.
I could not click on this fast enough. I had a horrible experience with better help. I had a really traumatic time with in-person therapy. So when Justin Bieber came out with a free month of better help I jumped on it. I did request a GIRL therapist. I made it known I specifically wanted to talk with a girl for multiple personal reasons. I get matched and it’s a man. Okay so I was upset but I thought ehh I’ll give it a try.. I reached out saying my whole story of how I needed therapy from therapy first. If that makes any sense. Long story short I had an awful experience with a therapist who was SO unethical and mind f***ing that I needed someone who was also a PROFESSIONAL to talk about this with. So I explain all that and everything was going great with initial conversation and introductions. It was hard to talk about a lot of what I had let this person in on. Then I get a message saying this person has moved on from better help and I would be rematched. No message saying they were leaving or anything. I was upset to say the least. But I thought oh well.. what can u do, you kno? I finally get rematched. To once again a man. This time I explained everything in a more shortened way because I was being cautious. Well next thing I know it said I’m ONCE AGAIN going to get passed on to the next. So now I’m pissed. Not only because I felt so dismissed but I felt as if my issues were to big and they checked out or something cause why else would this happen again? Not even just that but my “free month” window was closing and I hadn’t gotten anything from this still 3 weeks in. Finally I get rematched and what do you know it’s finally a girl but I felt like my gut was telling me this organization was not a “better help” solution. So I tell this person on the phone this time that I’m actually not going to be continuing this “thing”. Her response to this was telling me that I’m just not ready for therapy. Idk why but that hurt me and it made me feel just gross. I left feeling like welp I’m never going to do therapy again because I just do not believe in it anymore, nor trust anyone to “help”. The whole thing was just stupid. I’m super supportive of those who find therapy to be helpful but unfortunately hasn’t ever worked for me. Haven’t even got to watch this video yet but I’m so curious as to what you have to say about this organization. Thanks for always using your voice BJ, much love and hugs to you!
Hunny, go to a real in person therapist, it does help. I have major layers of trauma, childhood, dv relationships, night Terrors, PTSD, 2 strokes, etc. Get real help from an actual therapist, don't do any of these online apps or anything, research them first. This bad experience is literally just reg ppl, not therapists, forget this one and be cautious but find something real.
@@angelabarnes1675 while I appreciate the encouragement the whole reason I turned to online therapy was because of a bad experience with a real in person therapist.
I just watched the Kiki Chanel video yesterday and have read a few articles about Better Help. It's so sad how much they are exposing people's mental health needs.
I left a job that had me use the better help app after I had a "breakdown" I was going to be self committed for real help and their answer was Better help The guy on the other side of the phone was great and did point me to a in-person clinic he is a gem When I left to be able to talk to him again would of cost me hundreds of dollars out of pocket 😒
I can see how easily someone who is suffering and young and vulnerable could get sucked into this. This is pure evil!!! Thank you BJ for fighting for us all!!!!!!
You are so intelligent and look into companies and/or people that really are important that no one else even realizes what is going on. You are killing it with ALL your videos with the best info EVER on You Tube period !!!
Better Help has always seemed sus to me. I've been in and out of therapist offices most of my life and half of them were useless let alone online bs. And what about HIMS? They seem shady too.
I'm with you on the therapists being useless. Love it when they look at their watch while you're in a session they're getting paid for! Such a great feeling and sure does make you want to go back!
Money's going to betterhelp instead of people who need it…… 😔 Myself and so many others have not qualified for pandemic relief, inflation relief, rent relief. And im literally like, how can anyone be MORE poor than me that they qualify?? Im soo lucky to not be homeless… even years after escaping an abusive family. im lucky to be able to care for my own mental health by researching and practising self-care after being gaslit my whole life into thinking my parents aren't abusing me. they tried to blame me and 5150 me when I escaped… i was terrified of them. but I knew I was doing the right thing by leaving and did not comply with their subpoena! 💕✨✨✨✨
i mean, i went to the cops to tell them they're abusive, after HIDING for a week because they were looking for me to put me on psychiatric hold. they were lying to the cops. they didn't want me to be able to care for myself. they wanted me on medication.. and in "family therapy" so they could brainwash me further. people need to be able to care for themselves. betterhelp is profitting because people cant. others cant escape abuse because they know they'd be homeless or worse. 💛 i am okay now 💛 just extremely broke and isolated
My husband and I had good conversations and were competitive also. It was a nice way to challenge each other to reach higher. It sounds like you two have a great relationship.
The one that gets me with BetterHelp is that if a therapist channel does a video on why they didn't take the sponsorship/the issues with them from a therapy/therapists point of view then they get sent a cease and desist letter. I know a couple of channels that this has happened to and they chose to take down the video rather than poke the bear. These channels do still do videos about BetterHelp but have allegedly used more often than they did before and have really long disclaimers at the beginning of the video now (and don't go into the same level of detail).
21:42 WHO’S TO SAY THO YAKNOW?! If they’re being shady af like that.. who KNOWSSS what they’re giving them 🙄 I feel sooooo violated because I’ve done tons of therapy through EAP at work. Because I can’t afford it otherwise 🙄 I had no idea this was a possibility and would’ve NEVER done it had I known. No wonder the EAP *MAKES* you talk about work!!!!!!! All of my coworkers complained about how the therapy HAD to be work related issues. This is fkn sick and I was actually fired from the company I did the EAP therapy through. For some BULLLLLL. Wonder why 🙃🙃🙃
Online therapy shouldn’t be sold by a privatized company. The information is sensitive, confidential. I wonder what they’re doing with the data they collect? Their results show the sheer demand for more affordable mental health and virtual options. Advertising on YT is powerful, there’s global reach.
I had the WORST experience with BetterHelp. My therapist was so incredibly unprofessional. I can name several incidents, but what really sticks out is me saying I’m not sure if I want to have another baby, to which my therapist said, “maybe you shouldn’t, you’re getting old”. Then he went on to guilt me into keeping my weekly sessions, because “when people cancel sessions” my therapist “can’t pay his bills”. So as a patient, that was my problem I guess.
OMG!!!! I was just thinking about using them this morning. I'm so glad I saw this. What the actual hell!! I'm still watching the video but i had to say that. This world is insane!!
My therapy has been over the phone since 2020, but my therapist is licensed and I saw her in person for years prior. I do have a virtual doctor - lots of insurance plans encourage this now. They always make sure you’re in the same state though. A Better Help commercial has one of the “testimonials” saying her therapist was “in Michigan, I believe.” It has to be in your same state. She would know that if it were legit.
While I understand the sentiment I have a doctor in Colorado. I'm in Oregon.. he's licensed for Oregon too. Its not therapy tho. So it can be done legit.
@@FukaiKokoro I meant a psychiatric doctor. But yes - it depends where they’re licensed so they ask and make sure. For me they always say, @You’re in the state of California, right?” That’s through the Babylon Health app as well as the DrOnDemand app. I don’t think many therapists are licensed in multiple states.
The care I get is a million times better than what I'd get locally. It really depends on the situation and the company itself. Like obviously if you find a independent therapist and they offer sessions online or through the phone that's a good option.
I remember Phillip DeFranco was sponsored by them. He loved them. Then people started telling him stuff. So he goes there and does a big investigation. And it was as bad as what u and all these people said. So he quit using them as a service and sponsorship anymore. I think this was in like 16 or 17
😱 Woooaahh, this is definitely a HIPPA violation, and unfortunately the amount of violations a company can get in a single year is limited; it caps at a 1.5 million fee. Unless the Attorney General brings up civil charges they can just take the hit, and continue to violate HIPPA, because they can apparently pay the fee. This is terrifying! Thanks for the heads up!!!
If it is depersonalised information that doesn't break HIPAA, otherwise you wouldn't be able to get any medical statistics eg rates of diabetes, blood pressure issues etc in the population. They just happen to know exactly how closely they can skirt that line.
@@amandamandamands Hmm, yes you are correct! In certain circumstances HIPPA does not protect you...which is terrifying...like health apps, period trackers etc..however, this a visit with a therapist which should be protected under HIPPA guidelines despite being over the phone... How would they de-personalize your medical information? That's crazy, and I don't trust their ability to censor private medical information yet share "de personalized" information if they are releasing specific info to your employer etc. I wonder how they would be able to de-personalize information while giving details on your preferences, what stresses you out..etc. It doesn't seem possible when that info is given during an office visit, but I believe you...just seems impossible
Thank you for speaking about this! I always got the creeps from better help. Never accept the free company provided therapy. They will always use it to monitor you.
I should have put "free" with quotes lol they market the stuff as free to employees but you're right. The company is giving money that could go to your wages to Telehealth to collect your data. It's insulting.
Better Help has always seemed "off" to me. Monitoring data? Amd behind most peoples back, & general public knowledge.... That's insane. Thanks for digging into this and spreading the information! You're the best BJ! ✌ ♥ 🦄
Recently, Jan 1, 2023, a BetterHelp psychologist committed suicide by fentanyl overdose. I knew this guy. He conducted sessions in my bathroom sitting on the commode. After the session he drank the bottle of Scotch he brought me as a gift and passed out onto my kitchen floor. Later, he promised to buy me that bottle again. He never did and now never will.
I didn't have a positive experience w/BetterHelp. Multiple times, therapists would cancel on me the day-of my appointment. Paid for the monthly membership & then uh didn't get help.
Wow small world people no peoples business. If that is true it's not worth it free or not what you talk about with a therapist is your business and no one else should know.

@@matrixrblx2423 it's absolutely insane the amount of betterhelp ads there are on YT. Plus all the sponsorships! It's insane and very scary. People obviously need help and they're completely taking advantage of that
The channel Fab Socialism also has a really good video talking about the capitalization of mental health and these apps and sponsorships. I would recommend anyone interested to check that out too
It's honestly bad enough that health care is treated like a business than a necessity and even worse when it's mental health. I've gone to an actual therapist and it's been absolutely amazing. I did go to better help once and I didn't like it one bit. Felt more like I was just chatting to some random person online and this was in the days before they required them to be licensed. It's dangerous to do that with someone's mental health and play around with it.
Thank you! I looked into better help and wasn’t sure about it and this helped a lot. I guess some help is better than no help, but when it comes to mental health, I think it’s not a time to be cheap.
There has to be something that constitutes a class action lawsuit because this is terrifying especially taking into consideration who is listed as the 8th biggest shareholder is😮 This is if nothing else highly unethical and immoral 😢
Hello I knew this was true but I didn't know the details. Thank you for bringing the truth to the light. I have no words, it's just wrong to profit from mental health, very exploitative. I challenge everyone to 90 days of eating fatty meat, butter, eggs, salt to taste, fish, electrolytes. The transition it is different for everyone, but AFTER you transition, you will feel AMAZING!
Ooo I'm so glad you did this video! Very interesting and scary about the data. I wanted to watch Kiki Chanel's video too but it looks like it was removed.
I think I was lucky in that I had an actual therapist who was licensed and worked for a children's hospital(I did research him). Now I might understand why he left the app and started offering independent services.
This is insane and I’m so glad you talked about this!!!!!🤯 Teladoc has been offered and I’m shook! I’ve always had an “off” feeling about it and I’m so glad you confirmed that!!! How invasive! That’s insane!
I feel like Better Help jumped on the lockdown bandwagon. Therapists with credit were saying STAY AWAY!!!.. They list all these REPUTABLE THERAPISTS then when you go to schedule BH says they're not taking any new patients.... BUT HERE TAKE THIS APPT WITH THIS PERSON.... PLUS, pay cash....
I've seen alot of people finally speaking out about better help. While I always had a feeling something seemed a bit off with it, I'm glad to see others exposing it. So many people have been sponsored by them here on UA-cam, so I figured it was either really good, or really scammy... for sure the latter. Hearing all of the statistics and earnings literally disgusts me. These people selling "patients" information to other people...using the much needed mental health issue being exploited like this is awful. If people could get the Mental help they so desperately need perhaps the world would be safer and better in general. So many people who are untreated out there do end up committing crimes (not all obviously) but some, and I they could have gotten help in the beginning, perhaps those crimes wouldn't be committed. Had this same discussion on reddit (ik) about the suspect in Idaho.. perhaps If mental health services were readily and easily available for him perhaps 4 people would still be alive today. Guess we're never going to know since everyone's so damn greedy. And I thought big insurance was bad.. that isn't even close to what better help seems to be doing, damn.
Didn’t Travis Scott offer “free” better help for the people that were traumatized at his deadly concert? I thought it was gross because it wasn’t a “free” service at all (it was like 1 month free of something), but what if it was done to get information on the people who were traumatized by the concert? To help with his legal defense? Ick. It’s just so icky to think about.
I have heard so many negative reviews from friends who could only afford better help as they don't have insurance. Multiple times therapists ghosted the patients and never contacted them again. For no reason. I wish people would stop suggesting them.

I almost went to better health but for some reason I couldn’t.
Thank you for this
Better Help, more like Better Run
I despise businesses that prey on those with real life issues so they can make gross amounts of money.
They are monetizing and profiting from our pain 😢turning our pain into a product.
What kind of trifling a@@ business is Better Help ? FRAUDULENT !!!!! 🤬
big money business....the kind everyone buys stock in until they cop a class action suit.
Most the real therapists I have talked to are not trained for CPTSD. They treat long term trauma with the same treatment as a single event caused trauma.
“Think back to that moment.”
“Which one? It wasn’t a moment, it went on for years.”
“Well, think back to one of the moments. Describe what happened in detail.”
Then I relive the trauma while they don’t attempt to connect with me but instead just say “go on…” or “what are you feeling?” But never actually acknowledge the trauma or events.
How and which would be the best way to go through ?
I went to teal swans teachings instead. I never paid for a course just free videos and I bought a book. It really helped me. Much more than a random person recording what I’m saying while thinking about what they will eat for dinner.
Personally I hate the whole root cause thing, I know I'm not a psychologist or therapist or whatever but they're up almost never really is a root cause to mental disorder. At least for my observation with people. So just take this as personal opinion. If it was that simple it be easy to solve.
My personal opinion is mental disorders are caused by a combination of things, like genetics/physical body, environment, events (but those are generalization)
Usually isn't some single event (although that can happen) and being if you had trauma from one single it lead to more trauma later in life.
But it may also be that they only want to treat one thing at a time. Making it simpler for themselves and possibly for you.
Anyways I'm just random the person on the internet so. My opinion is just my opinion.
Nothing raises my anxiety, more than one of their commercials, telling me I have anxiety.

And using the bathroom too! I mean WTH?? That's not only weird but also down right disgusting 😒
Damnnn this is a good piece. Therapists in general are a crap shoot but these online mental health apps seem next level bogus
Between the data mining and lack of credential checks really begs the question, is HIPPA being violated here? I just can't see how it's not.
i started to sign up for BH and they wanted to charge me $160 an hour. I am so thankful I did not follow through. They are all about making money.
Thank you for doing the work, BJ. Love you, mean it 🫶🏻
I am with you that from the time I heard about this company it seemed like a scam.
Nothing online is private ever
Bj I have no investigation Skills but iam going to start a channel to expose these people taking advantage of people with problems
Good! You can do it!
As a mental struggling individual I'm really glad to see you bring this to light 🕯️
All my family and friends keep saying "do that online therapy" and I just don't want to ..
I tried to get help through BetterHelp but their whole service was so sketchy even before I was assigned to a "therapist". I am glad it didnt work out.
Thank you for saying what those of us who have called suicide hotlines in our lowest moment, knew without even researching.

The fact you included Kiki has me geeking out! I’ve been watching her for years! She’s an amazing researcher! Love you both!
Sheeeeaaattt......just in the nick of time. I downloaded this app this week. Just deleted my info and app after watching. Thanks BJ.

Wow!!!! I was going to join… but I actually prefer to change lives!
I just watched the Kiki Chanel video yesterday and have read a few articles about Better Help. It's so sad how much they are exposing people's mental health needs.

You've done an important public service.
A few years ago they where exposed and Philip DeFranco went and talked to them but the drama seemed to die off after that.
Money's going to betterhelp instead of people who need it…… 😔
Myself and so many others have not qualified for pandemic relief, inflation relief, rent relief.
13:49 Better Help also advertises on NPR, national public radio. FYI.
My husband and I had good conversations and were competitive also. It was a nice way to challenge each other to reach higher. It sounds like you two have a great relationship.
Thank you for being a light in this dark world 🙏
The one that gets me with BetterHelp is that if a therapist channel does a video on why they didn't take the sponsorship/the issues with them from a therapy/therapists point of view then they get sent a cease and desist letter.
I’m completely appalled, shocked and absolutely disgusted. Praying on the vulnerable for profit is the lowest of the low.
Online therapy shouldn’t be sold by a privatized company. The information is sensitive, confidential. I wonder what they’re doing with the data they collect? Their results show the sheer demand for more affordable mental health and virtual options. Advertising on YT is powerful, there’s global reach.
Thank you! Finally someone is bringing this up!
Having intellectual debates with your partner is a love language ✌️✨
I had the WORST experience with BetterHelp. My therapist was so incredibly unprofessional. I can name several incidents, but what really sticks out is me saying I’m not sure if I want to have another baby, to which my therapist said, “maybe you shouldn’t, you’re getting old”. Then he went on to guilt me into keeping my weekly sessions, because “when people cancel sessions” my therapist “can’t pay his bills”. So as a patient, that was my problem I guess.
😮😮😮😪
OMG!!!! I was just thinking about using them this morning. I'm so glad I saw this. What the actual hell!! I'm still watching the video but i had to say that. This world is insane!!
Better help has always been scammers
I WAS HOPING YOU WOULD DO THIS EXPLANATION!!!❤😂
Thank you for covering this! Mickey Atkin’s also talked about better help and the company made them take down one of the videos
Thank you for covering this! Better help has actively silenced mental health providers / professionals for years.
I couldn’t afford it and they wouldn’t take my insurance, which is Aetna… glad to know I dodge this scam.
your channel is so good. you put it out there.. the truth. you aren't sensationalist, and you dont engage in 'yellow belly' journalism. I looove it!

It's called "better help ads are annoying as hell" 😂
I've been waiting for the day!!!!

YES! Better help is the worst.
“Better help, but not a substitute.”
Thank you 🙏🥂
Didn’t Travis Scott offer “free” better help for the people that were traumatized at his deadly concert? I thought it was gross because it wasn’t a “free” service at all (it was like 1 month free of something), but what if it was done to get information on the people who were traumatized by the concert? To help with his legal defense? Ick. It’s just so icky to think about.
I have heard so many negative reviews from friends who could only afford better help as they don't have insurance. Multiple times therapists ghosted the patients and never contacted them again. For no reason. I wish people would stop suggesting them.
Thank you so so much
