So, you’re referring to the “A Little Bit Longer” record that was released in 2008? That was actually their third full-length, but second on Hollywood Records... so I was a little confused there lol. I thought you were referring to their self-titled release which was also recorded in 2007 and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge. I’m curious now, because I remember for the recording process of ALBL they did this “Band In A Bus” webseries where it looked like they did a large chunk of tracking on the road? For all I know, the bus aspect was totally fabricated lol, but it seemed legitimate enough and Fields was shown working in the bus. The webseries showed them recording portions in an actual studio as well, so I’m wondering if those are the sessions you sat in on? Anyway, loved the video. Super interesting and surprising to come across! I wish the Jonases would work with John Fields again. They had a really good thing going!
Hey Jordan... I've worked with Fields for over 20 years. I've always been amazed by his process, and I'm so happy you made this video to give a first hand account of what it's like to work with him!
i love the concept behind having everything ready to go within a moments notice, but some of us smaller guys lack the equipment and cables and channels in such a method. It sounds amazing none the less though.
I started to mix with some plugins on a few weeks ago, not because I know theory or anything else but just because, as you said, it sounded great from the very beginning! Ps. I'd love to hear you talk a bit about producing pop punk stuff! Cheers Jordan!
Very good lessons to learn. I haven't thought about it much, but now that I'm looking back, I feel like I've had better results on sessions where I set things up quickly and intuitively, and got worse results on the ones where I did shoot-outs and a ton of tweaking right up front. That does come with experience of course, knowing what will work right off the bat, but it seems like a great approach.
Chris Lord Alge is a legend, l would sell my mum to watch him mix. Love his mixes, amazing. Awesome video H C M ! The info from the vids - priceless, Thank you.
Thanks man! Using this for a project on John Fields at Berklee College of Music!

Awesome... it was 10 years ago now but still the most influential time I’ve ever had in the studio!

So true man. The simplest approach is usually the best
Always grateful for your support man! Are you ok though dude? Your looking super tired. X
8:17 It's so sad they don't send you out a free copy of the album signed by the artists.... You helped create the damn thing!
Solid tips - thank you!
Hi, Jordan! Where can I get instrumental versions playing in background?

Mike Dixon check out Mix With The Masters. You won’t have to sell your mom!
Thanks man, interesting stuff, keep those coming please!
John did most of the guitar and bass? not the Kevin or Nick Jonas?
Correct. The bros were shooting a movie all day then coming to the studio at night with song ideas and to cut vocals
well dang that sucks, for ten years i thought they were playing on their own record.....
There goes my mum also.. but you have to find your comfort zone
