Thank you for this video, Jordan! This information completely transformed the mix that I'm currently working on! I happened to have the SoundToys Effect Rack 4, so it was a matter of, "Oh, this is what this tool is used for!"
Dude just watched through a bunch of your videos. The before and after of a mix I had originally done is crazy. Would love to email you both version so you can see how your vids have helped! Keep it up man
Man, welldone..you are valuable, specific and accurate!!no many words and the best tips!!A question..how can I make my rhythm guitars (metal-metacore) huge? I have a kemper and I can't make guitars sound huge, clean and tasty. I use very good profiles but my problem is in the mix!!
It is funny that as soon as we see that you work in Pro Tools, we immediately believe you have at least a decade of experience and works with real musicians. Not always the case, but sure you have the skills on a real pro level.
Hardcore Music Studio wow, good little coincidence then. It acts very similar to this method just with a single knob but I think your way allows more room for people to get creative and have full control.
Zach Lenzen not true it depends what your going for. This vocal in this mix was perfect for that technique if everything was doubled it would’ve taken away from his singing. Although doubling is great just depends on the song
Does it matter if I use the CLA 76 "Stereo" on a mono track like a vocal? I compared the CLA 76 "Mono" vs "Stereo" on a vocal, and I couldn't tell any difference. It seems like it would only matter to make sure to use the "stereo" on a "stereo" track.
If you are sure that everything before the compressor is mono, you should probably pick the mono compressor instead. It will save cpu, but all in all no difference really.
Great plugin! But CLA-Vocals (And "Nectar-ish" plugins) should really only be used in quick-situations. As a professional, Its essential to know ALL the effects that are in your signal flow; for maximum control. CLA/Nectar disguise a lot of the effects in their presets; for the home engineer that should work well. But I think Jordan strives for more of a professional fanbase.
ReaPitch and ReaEQ for Reaper. How something so simple, so easy to teach, can make wonders to our mixes. Thanks for sharing. This tip is so good ;)
CHAMP!!
Loving the focus/blur effects when you show us the settings. Great video as always
Jordan, how do you do that?
Screenflow software lets you do this. I do not edit my videos. Dan Knittel gets credit on this one

Awesome video Jordan. you deserve more subs man
Another great tip! Thanks, Jordan 🤘🏻
Hey man, your videos helped my first metal mix to the point where it's a black and white differnce. Thanks for the help!
SPL Vitalizer does a good job of something similar without the pitch/delay sound. Also a good vocal widening trick!
Wowsers, going to try that out!

Would love to hear the before/after. hit me at support@hardcoremusicstudio.com and screenshot this so it gets to me! Thanks dude
will send now bro!
Thank you very much. Just the kind of tip I needed right now!!
Thanks, this is simple but effective!
Good info Jordan!!
Holy shit. This is huge
Great tip! Thank you!
This kind of sounds like Cartel haha very informative! Thank you!
Jordan I love you, always will
I love silverstein
So good👍💥
It's similar with Warren Huart's vocal widening trick. Even he makes multiple layer delays and pitch shifting. Thanks to reveal it too!

great effect! do you ever run into Phase issues with this sort of 'very fast' delay effect?
Nope - but I mean, I'm not using it on drums or bass :p !
@@hardcoremusicstudio ah.. does this phase issues are more noticeable in stuff with low end?
very good!
this was a great tutorial. i really learned something new today. whats the name of the artist and band that was used in this demo?
I have pro tools 8,and it doesn't have this plugin, how do I get it??
Great technique thanks for sharing!!!!
So do you have this turned on throughout the song?
Love this. Dead simple. Was this video inspired at all by iZotope releasing the Vocal Doubler plugin?
Nope, I actually had no idea!
Hardcore Music Studio wow, good little coincidence then. It acts very similar to this method just with a single knob but I think your way allows more room for people to get creative and have full control.
What does it sound like in mono. Seems like you must be creating all kinds of phase issues.
Very cool. Does Studio One have anything like this?
Jordan what's the name of the song/band? As usually, great video!
Silverstein - In the Dark
Anyone knows the artist/song in this video?
I suppose this would be useful if you're mixing someone else's project, but a good double tracked VOX sounds way better
Zach Lenzen not true it depends what your going for. This vocal in this mix was perfect for that technique if everything was doubled it would’ve taken away from his singing. Although doubling is great just depends on the song
Where’s that song I wanna hear it.
ua-cam.com/video/oSwvOH_YZPg/v-deo.html. Here you go. It's Silverstein.
Damn really gonna try this! Would applying this to growls or fry screams work as well?
This technique works for me on heavy/distorted vocals. Sounds good on guitar solos as well.

It doesn't matter so long as you aren't changing panning information. That's usually the only differnece.
If you are sure that everything before the compressor is mono, you should probably pick the mono compressor instead. It will save cpu, but all in all no difference really.
Stereo versions of plugins use basically twice the CPU because they're affecting two channels.
When I do this, I got phase issues on my vocals ¿Do you know why? If a put the máster in Mono, I got phase issues
Reduce the fader send at -15
Jman, what's your view on microshift vs waves doubler?
Waves Doubler works well, I use it too!
I find it a little more heavy-handed but that can be good in some cases.
does anyone know if there is a plugin like Pitch II for Reaper?
Yes! It's just called ReaPitch. You can change on just side with add shifter and panning them.
Love the tune !!!
Anyone know who it is?
A little late but here you go. ua-cam.com/video/oSwvOH_YZPg/v-deo.html
The CLA vocals plugin will do this for you also BUT it sounds like it has phase issues if you over due it
Great plugin!
