People, if you want warm water coming out fast at the faucet, simply make the loop without installing the pump. Pump is not necessary at all. Once the full loop is made in the warm water line, warm water will circulate through the warm water pipe by convection effect where hot water expands in the heater and forces the water to move through the loop to colder region and back into the heater and continue the cycle. I had a water pump installed but failed and I took it out and bypassed it and I still get nice hot water very quickly better than ever before with no headache to deal with failing pump or timer. Pump and timer are expensive and difficult to maintain and absolutely not needed in most residential use. If you do not believe me, try first before you take the trouble of installing one.

Good Day Tom, that method was done many moons ago on a regular basis. It was called a gravity circulation system. However alot of plumbing system today are getting more and more complicated and a circulator is needed to get the water to where it is needed. Great suggestion to offer our viewers! Thanks

I noticed, you did not mention about the water direction/arrow... !!!

these dummies forgot about the arrow on the pump, it is designed to be pointed in the proper direction of flow, this is critical

Hey speckspeck, what would be the correct direction of the arrow? I was wondering same thing too.

@t question is this will the newer rubber old ring work with the old flange thats on my boiler or do I need to install a regular flange gasket? Question 2# Whats the prefer nipple to connect to the flange to the boiler brass or galvanize pipe?

It says 3 o’clock 9 o’clock and 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock would be down where they don’t want it facing? Right? On my boiler there are three circulators and the pipes are facing vertical. It said in the video except for in higher pressure systems normally all of the hydronic boiler’s that I have seen don’t operate anywhere above 20 PSI is it considered higher pressure?

as long as the pump motor shaft is horizontal (parallel with the ground) the electrical connections on the motor and the portion that connects to the pipe can be spun in any direction. In certain low pressure situations

we replaced the cartridge and the casing is still very hot. Should it be hot?

My installer put the electrical box in the 6:00 position. What is the reason to NOT do this and what are the risks of doing it this way?

    • @TacoHVACtv
      @TacoHVACtv  2 роки тому +1

Hello Patrick, the reason for not installing the electrical box of circulators at the 6:00 position is for following best practices. Water always flows downhill and if there was ever a leak in the system piping, water could pool in the electrical box and create other unwanted issues. Otherwise the circulator will operate just fine. Thank you for watching.

Question. Does the flange gaskets come with a new circulator? Thx

I have a 10 yr old Taco 007 - BF5. I cannot determine if the pump is entirely dead or if I just have to replace the cartridge. Any suggestions ?

Typically the cartridge is the component that fails most often. That is where the moving parts are. The bearings typically wear to the point that the rotor cannot spin any longer. The other part of the cartridge is the impeller and if that has any damage to it, it may not flow the water correctly.
To find out if your pump is entirely dead, take off the motor as described and see if you can spin the impeller.

When the Plumber switched out my B&G 100, which only needed the Linkage fixed $15, He touted the merits of the "cartridge". Just checked on Amazon and even there the cartridge costs the same or more than a full new circulator. That's not a merit. AND he installed it upside down.

Sometimes, the cartridge can be as expensive as the whole pump! Go figure!

please help!!!! Am I suppose to oil a Taco circulator pump??...and if yes where?
I have had two pump go bad in two years and I was told that the pumps were not oiled. so now I have a new one and I don't want this to happen again.
if oil is not the issue what would explain why I'm on my third pump in two years???

the 00 series Taco pumps do not require any type of lubrication or maintenance, but it requires water flow for self lubrication, if the pump is air-locked, it could result in overheating and the bushings going out, especially if the pump is mounted at the top of you system, where air would tend to hang

i think they are selling you new pumps because you are buying them..... not because you need one

You never have to oil these..If you're going through them quick, see how your thermostat is set. How often is your heat running? Could be working overtime..
