If you remember , after verse two Dusty sings out; ''take me with you Jesus'', from 'Jesus just left Chicago', I add; ''but not tonight'' , a line a stole from the song ''Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox'' by the late Joe Diffie, who also left us too soon.
Just seen Billy Gibbons in a bar, fully star struck. I've never caught buck fever before but that must be what it's like. I said thank you to him, he gave me the finger gun and I absolutely knew what it felt like to be in the presence of greatness. I'll never forget it.
My first concert was Eliminator at 14. Mom had good taste in music and took me. Surrounded and protected by all these bikers smoking copious amounts of weed. Mom beat herself up about it, because we got a great contact high. Greatest thing I ever saw.
Playing the notes of Jesus Came to Chicago is easy. Playing them right is NOT so easy. This has to be one of the best examples of Billy Gibbons ' genius. This guy has so much feel and rythm. Dusty and Frank lay down a pocket and Billy weaves around in it. This is how it's done folks.👍
There will never be another band like ZZ Top. They were the one and only band of their kind. Happy Trails, Dusty. Texas and the world won't be the same without you. RIP.
Love they way they just CASUALLY WALK INTO the Song... they have done it so many times.. they could do it in their Sleep... Just sooo smooth... like glass.
I am so blessed to have met Dusty Hill and spend about 20 minutes chatting with him Class Act I can't say anymore got enough beautiful words to describe that man epitome of a Class Act
I've seen 'em a bunch, too, at venues big and small, from the early days right up to just before Trump’s plague. But one of my favorite shows was them headlining at the Cotton Bowl around '89 or '90, with Santana and the Steve Miller Band among others. THAT'S Texas! Rock in Pride, Dust!
Zzz top this is Kevin hamory god loves you and your music. And I do just as much. I will meet you soon. Keep rocking on. You will be even more blessed especially because of that song Jesus just left Chicago but all your music is decent. Have a wonderful day peace love and joy to your and your fans and the great state of Texas have a very merry christmas
I had the pleasure of working with ZZ as a production runner...met the whole band on more than one occasion, the best shows werer when Lynyrd Skyner opened...........
Was here with my now deceased daughter... Momma has been rockin to Tres Hombres for 40+ years Now y'all must be Rockin' out in Paradise.. Rest in n Peace Dusty & (of course, my Auriel) Priceless memories🤘🎸😇 See y'all at the 'Final Reunion Tour'.. date is TBA😉
Miss Dusty..GOD BLESS EVERY Member of the Mighty Machine nown as ZZ TOP..GOD BLESS EVERYONE.Billy Gobbons still out there with Mr.Frank Beard.Man,the new man on bass has to have nerves of steel to go out and get in the bottom..Keep On Rock,N.Roll'N those old Blues down the road...
Saw ZZ in 1970/71 at a small venue in Memphis. So small I could lean my elbows on the stage. Billy said "We gonna boogie all night long" and they did. He was clean shaven and was wearing cowboy boots, blue jeans, cowboy shirt and hat, short hair and wire rimmed glass. I'll never forget it.
I sang in various hard rock bands through the 80's to mid 90's and I swear to the gods...playing/singing ZZ Top covers--without fail--would get the girls dancing and the most tepid crowds rockin'.
I love the slightly slower version, their choreographed guitar thrusting, and after being one of my first albums, 1977, I have grown to love & appreciate them more and more..
I see Frank now sports a goatee. I wonder if he grew it because he got sick and tired of people pointing out to him that he was the only member of the band who actually didn't have a beard, despite his ironic name?
+scott harrison : Yes, I know Hendrix said that, but I think he would be disillusioned, were he still alive. Billy is known mainly not for his licks, but for his tone (managed by his guitar tech offstage), and the ZZ Top "schtick" - the beards, guitars, videos on early MTV, etc. There are many, many better guitarists out there than Billy. That being said, I'm a fan of ZZ Top, and caught them at the first Crossroads Festival in Dallas in 2004.
I'm going on 60 in Oct. 2013 and I went to a ZZ concert in around 1971 or 1972 and a friend of mine somehow talked to the guys and they invited us back to their Hotel in Las Vegas,NV. and we talked and drank and gambled with them in the casino. Man , that will be the high light of my life
Nobody can cover this song, with the sound and showmanship as ZZ Top, in most cases the originals are always the best, and in this case it rings true, thanks for the iconic songs and years of rock ZZ. RIP Dusty
Just saw the "little Ol' band from Texas" In Concho Oklahoma, daaaaaaaaaaaamn is all I got to say. Saw 'em with the best of the best of friends In San Bernadino in 1972 they rocked the house down then.........................and they still did in 2013!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is from the concert in Dallas that Dad had bought tickets for us to go to but we had me my heart's funeral instead which is way cooler than this concert could ever been
I saw ZZ TOP at S.F. Winterland...way, way back...nobody had ever heard of them. God bless their..."rock and roll souls" and the great tunes they have given us.
Heard the massive interview on SIRIUS, ZZ has three tour line luxury coaches. That is how they have maintained the prosperous group dynamic and that... ZZ longevity, by stayin clear of each others personality and only seeing each other at show time.
Reverend Billy and the boys are the best...80 people just missed the bus! I think I'll go put on my Sludgeco Tshirt now and shake the house with some more Texas boogie music...
To me the best part of this song is the beginning when dusty just wraps around that riff with that smooth ass bass. Not saying the whole song isn't magic because it is. But just in that moment you realize the guys are rock gods!!
They don't get old. They just get better.. I have loved them for over 40 years now... I bought a Bootleg 8 track tape of them way back in 74 before anybody even new who they were..
I just won tickets to see Billy Gibbons solo at "The Riverside" in Milwaukee, WI on Nov.15th! Can't wait to see him! He was the brains behind the band & the originator... Loves me some "Jesus just left Chicago"!!!
Had to stop by and get a dose of Texas vibe and Dusty real quick, so glad to have UA-cam so we can always visit our best friends (R.I.P. Dusty, you keep em in rhythm up there, ok?)
Was at this Crossroads and it was epic! This is my favorite musical segue ever. ZZ always impressed, and seeing them live never disappointed. RIP...........the Dust!
You might not see him in person but he'll see you Just the same.
Ain't that the Truth!
I am playing my fender strat RIGHT now and I was just about to type this same thing....
RIP Dusty, seemed like such a cool guy
That transition from Waitin' on the Bus to Jesus Just Left Chicago is epic and legendary.
Gets you wondering how this 3 ittle band from Texas! KICKED
Well said! 🤘🏻
RIP Dusty…. 🙏🏻
I've played this and YES, That segment hard!
The Transition is 'Spiritual'.
RIP DUSTY. Man I guess he finally caught that bus.
Right on man
Damn.i felt that.
If you remember , after verse two
Dusty sings out; ''take me with you Jesus'',
from 'Jesus just left Chicago',
I add; ''but not tonight'' , a line a stole
from the song ''Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox''
by the late Joe Diffie, who also left us too soon.
That's not a laughing matter but it is funny
Sure nuff did. Well said. RIP Dusty
The harmony between these three is phenomenal
They've been playing together since 1967 or 68.........
Almost as good as Rush lol
Billy's tone on that opening riff was awesome. God bless Dusty, ZZ Top won't be the same without you 🙏
Yes, what a hell of a sound
Which pedal?
@@BreadOmelette no pedals that I could see! Straight into the amp and crank the hell out of it!
I saw the recently with Elwood Francis, hes pretty good. It was good fine show.
But Dusty was Dusty. RIP Dusty.
@@stevengrinold3203 yep.
There’s nothing better than a great rock band who knows how to mix the perfect amount of blues in their music
Rest in Peace Dusty Hill.
RIP Dusty Hill! Probably the best trio ever
Cream , Jimi Experience should be considered - but all top tier.
Rush, primus all fantastic 3 man bands named here
Just seen Billy Gibbons in a bar, fully star struck. I've never caught buck fever before but that must be what it's like. I said thank you to him, he gave me the finger gun and I absolutely knew what it felt like to be in the presence of greatness. I'll never forget it.
Shared this glorious medley in memory of Dusty Hill, R.I.P sir
My first concert was Eliminator at 14. Mom had good taste in music and took me. Surrounded and protected by all these bikers smoking copious amounts of weed. Mom beat herself up about it, because we got a great contact high. Greatest thing I ever saw.
Hard to believe that's only 3 guys. That little ole band from Texas
+61sasquatch 5.56 They are badass!
+61sasquatch 5.56 "The Boys"
+61sasquatch 5.56 "And all points in between" (5.56x 63) .
Quaility- not Quantity
LEGENDS
For Dusty. God bless you, brother.
Real men right there. Playing real music............
That tone is ridiculous!!!!!!
Awesome
Billy is THE definition of COOL.
His tone is a surgical knife
Playing the notes of Jesus Came to Chicago is easy. Playing them right is NOT so easy. This has to be one of the best examples of Billy Gibbons ' genius. This guy has so much feel and rythm. Dusty and Frank lay down a pocket and Billy weaves around in it. This is how it's done folks.👍
Lot of people don't give Frank credit, he was an awesome drummer. He could keep up with Dusty and Billy and drive it, hard to do.
Yes sir
RIP Dusty Hill. Thank you for the music! :-(
The gospel according to the Reverend Billy Gibbons
Yes!
amen
Billy gibbons is absolutely the best guitarist ive ever heard, he just oozes tone and rhythm!
Just heard that Dusty passed away. Jesus, that's just horrible news. RIP, amigo.
Every time I hear these guy’s drop down into Jesus just left Chicago gives me goose bumps! They killed it!!
People don't understand today what a 3 piece band has to do. Cream, Rush, ZZ Top.
So long Dusty Hill, you’re with Jesus now.😢 🎶
There will never be another band like ZZ Top. They were the one and only band of their kind. Happy Trails, Dusty. Texas and the world won't be the same without you. RIP.
A guitar tone straight from God Himself!!
Love they way they just CASUALLY WALK INTO the Song... they have done it so many times.. they could do it in their Sleep...
Just sooo smooth... like glass.
Yeah it’s so cool , no big wanky build up , just walk out and smash it out of the park
They got that swagger that won't ever be replicated
like butter
Absolute baddest in the business.
It's been said that Billy Gibbons never wastes a note.
And he doesn't. One of the best. God, I love this band...seen em' 3 times, never disappoint!
I am so blessed to have met Dusty Hill and spend about 20 minutes chatting with him Class Act I can't say anymore got enough beautiful words to describe that man epitome of a Class Act
My wife and I have seen them 6 times in 20 years, love that little band from Texas.

That" little ole band" from Texas. The great ZZ Top! And what a tremendous loss, of the blues bass legend Dusty Hill. RIP
Legends.... RIP, Dust. And they sang it for Jesus. Don't kid yourself. They meant it.
Best live version of this I have ever seen. Gotta love ZZ Top.
I had the pleasure of working with ZZ as a production runner...met the whole band on more than one occasion, the best shows werer when Lynyrd Skyner opened...........

Good gravey!
That's some blistering hot shit gone super nova right there!
Rest in Peace Dusty. You were one of the best. 7-28-2021
First time seeing this. Hearing Dusty Hill sing "Oh, take me with you, Jesus!" just gave me chills. Keeping on rockin in heaven, brother. 🎸⚡🙏🏼
Yeah man, I saw them in CT. in I think '75 and Billy had a regular, close shaven beard. The sound of course, was HUGE
Even my computer turns this one up!
Davids garand THATS funny
hahaha
I sang in various hard rock bands through the 80's to mid 90's and I swear to the gods...playing/singing ZZ Top covers--without fail--would get the girls dancing and the most tepid crowds rockin'.

Texas Rock and Soul!
Doesn't get any better than this.
Enjoying this in Covid19 lockdown
incredible that many people came just to see 3 guys. Those guys are badass.
R.I.P. Dusty 😔. Thank you for all the great tunes
Even the brothas love ZZ.
Rest Easy Dusty! Thank you for your music and the memories
Who doesn't love ZZ?
Dusty Hill and Frank Beard layed down the groove that let Billy Gibbons preach! RIP sir!
That bus done got me mad!!! I'll be ridin til my Cadillac!!!
We are all going to miss him. Such huge talent snuffed out like a candle.
It was always nice seeing him around town on occasion.
Rest In Peace, Dusty.
RIP DUSTY YOU WILL BE MISSED
BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN
They had that superb timing and showmanship, that just made the music even better...
Nothing is cooler than ZZ Top blues!
Frank Beard, a very solid and underrated drummer. Love the Ringo sweeping hihat technique in Waiting for the bus!
I see Frank now sports a goatee. I wonder if he grew it because he got sick and tired of people pointing out to him that he was the only member of the band who actually didn't have a beard, despite his ironic name?
I could watch Frank all night, solid as F
It doesn't get much better than ZZTop!
I have written this before, for these guys, but this some Texas Bad-Assium, y'all!
Rest in peace Dusty Hill. ❤️
Eric Clapton said Billy G is an encyclopedia of blues guitar licks
John Hebert Hendrix said that Billy is one of the best.
+scott harrison : Yes, I know Hendrix said that, but I think he would be disillusioned, were he still alive. That my young friends is what you call. Playing real music, no backing tracks. I love it.
Masterful...
Nobody can cover this song, with the sound and showmanship as ZZ Top, in most cases the originals are always the best, and in this case it rings true, thanks for the iconic songs and years of rock ZZ. RIP Dusty
that entrance! Definition of cool! Then that segue into Jesus done Left Chicago is the best!!!
Saw them live in the '70's (Tejas Tour) - absolutely epic. Still one of the best concerts I've ever attended.
I SAW THEM IN THE 70'S IN ASHEVILLE, NC....THEY WERE GREAT!
Ssw these guys in the 70's. Drove there with a keg in my back seat.
They're not just cool, they're ICE....!
There will never be another Billy G... how fortunate we are to have his talent in our lifetime....he takes a simple blues tune to a stellar level...
Best versions of these two songs ever? No doubt.

That is how they have maintained the prosperous group dynamic and that... ZZ longevity, by stayin clear of each others personality and only seeing each other at show time.
So what's your point? And it wasn't always like that. They paid their dues. It is zz top after all.

The best 3 man band hands down.
I just won tickets to see Billy Gibbons solo at "The Riverside" in Milwaukee, WI on Nov.15th! Can't wait to see him! He was the brains behind the band & the originator... Loves me some "Jesus just left Chicago"!!!
Rest in Peace Brother Dusty. You will be missed.
Had to stop by and get a dose of Texas vibe and Dusty real quick, so glad to have UA-cam so we can always visit our best friends (R.I.P. Dusty, you keep em in rhythm up there, ok?)
Hell ya the rock dust just falls from the sky when these three played
the classic combo never fails from the ZZ
saw ZZ and Alvin Lee in Richmond, early 80's, best show I've ever seen
i cant count on two hands how many times iv'e seen the top but i know one thing they will NEVER GROW OLD FOR ME
Now this is some high steppin'.
These boys really know to cut a rug.
Waitin for the bus is just the greatest foreplay to the main. Jesus Just Left Chicago. Priceless!! Timeless. Goodspeed Dusty
This makes waitin for the bus a little easier.
Wow....such a great sound - could listen to these guys all day....and all from a set of and 2 guitars.
It's zz top bro. They been crankin like this for 40 years. Where ya been?
Was at this Crossroads and it was epic! This is my favorite musical segue ever. ZZ always impressed, and seeing them live never disappointed. RIP...........the Dust!

+Justin Greene If I'm a bet'n man, Jesus will most probably take care of any asshole who does't like this !
ZZ Top is like a fine plate of Bar B Que, bear down on the Meat and Ease off the Potato Salad.....
