Wow. I have high respect for his wife and son. I am speechless and cry with happy tears at the same times because most of us left our loves one behind. I hope someday I will find my siblings. I left my family since I was two days old.
This is very touching. I’m happy for your father to have found his family and for you to gain more relatives. My parents went back to Laos to visit their old village and where they grew up and it’s all jungles and graves now. War is such a disease and the innocent pays the price.
Amen! Only the elite and rich people profit from war, that’s why they push for war! Look at the Ukraine war, Russians and Ukrainians suffer. Only the big corporations and elite profit from the war. Normal, innocent people always suffer from it.
Thanks for showing us your family’s journey. It’s great that you can speak and read Hmong. My kids are fully Hmong and we’ve tried to teach them but English is so natural to them. Love it when you speak Hmong!
Is to commend his mother that even she is not Hmong made sure the son learned the language and his roots. Important in any marriage of people from different cultures, countries.
Great video log! Thanks for documenting this journey and reunion for your family and I'm happy that your dad was able to re-connect after so many years.
it's crazy that you speak fluent English. As a Hmong American who speaks only two languages I am always envious of foreign born people who can speak like 3 languages. I made friends with a Hmong French girl who spoke fluent English, Hmong, French, and Japanese lol
Thank you for sharing your reunion journey with us. It brought me to tears. How torn apart families were from the war, and being able to reunite after so long.
Dang ..! Love ur families stories for me tears up we have similar life stories came from the same motherland I hope someday I would find my ways back home .. ❤ thanks for sharing
This video brought me tears of joy because I also have families in Laos that I haven't met in years because I left Laos when I was a baby. You speak Hmong so well lol. Did you take hmong class? Or your Dad taught you to speak hmong? And where are you from? Glad that your Dad found his family ❤
Thank you for the video. Like many Hmong, we all share similar family stories and history. After the fall of Laos, my father made the long and dangerous trip to Thailand on foot, swimming across the Mekong River into freedom. He had to leave his family behind. After 15 years in the US, he was able to sponsor his mother, brother and sister. Sadly his father passed away in the mid 80s, so I never got to know my grandfather. My grandmother passed away about a year ago but at least she was able to live the last 25+ years with family. Anyway, we the current generation of Hmong must continue sharing our family stories and history. We are here today because of the sacrifices made by those before us.
Thank you for sharing brother. It is imperative to retrace our roots and reconnect. Understand where we come from and cherish every second of life. God bless you!
I’ll definitely consider that. I do have a couple videos with him on this trip in my Laos play list. You may find them interesting if you haven’t watched them already
It took me forty four years to get back there; crossed the bridge of Hin Heu in foot with my older brother reminding us that that bridge gave us freedom..!!
Thai story is so beautiful! Not a lot of mix Hmong French kids can speak Hmong. So glad you found your cousin!! 😉 just realize you’re NOU’s husband. Cool!
Nyob zoo os. I’m so happy for them both. I didn’t a similar documentary of reuniting with my biological father after 33yrs in 2018. We the Hmong people still have so many missing family members during the war. Thanks for this inspirational video to encourage others to keep searching. Hmong strong 💪
@@passport_ced Just curious if his French wife speak Hmong at all because she hardly said a word to any cousins there. Maybe she wasn't feeling comfortable? LOL
I understand you live in France. I am amazed at how well you can speak Hmong and your mom too? The credit goes to your dad who taught your guys to speak Hmong.
Geography and distance won't stop family coming together. Happy for your family. Question: why is it that your parents speak French and you speak English?
That's what love is. I'm so I happy for you that you have found your cousins, even though had been long time. Everyone's of us had almost the same story.
no disrespect, but I didn't think your Hmong speaking wasn't gonna be that fluent but good job with all respect and love all your videos. do more video with you speaking in Hmong

Looks like you got a good experience from all of this. I'm glad. Most people whom goes overseas without a good guide usually ends up bumping into unwanted behavior or end up being lucky enough not to experience anything crazy. The old generation of Hmong tourist especially the bad ones are slowly weeding out. OGs use to go over there and create a bad name for us hmong tourist and those overseas would get use to categorizing all hmong tourist the same.......that we only go over there to take advantage of them. But over the years, I think i see the narrative changing. Especially now that some of the younger hmong generation are making a difference overseas. Soon.....hopefully their will be less of a love and hate gap between hmong Americans, hmong french and those overseas
I'm so glad you gotten the chance to experience and see what life is like back in the mother land. I think it is nice that most of the younger generation would have experience what you experience so they can appreciate how wonderful and lucky they are to be in USA. I do also want to maybe one day to give my children to experience the same. Great video and thank you for sharing. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
What touched me most is you speaking Hmong to your aunt.
Really? That’s kind of you to say.
@@passport_ced your father's hmong accent sounds frenchnized different from us in america.
Wow. I have high respect for his wife and son. I am speechless and cry with happy tears at the same times because most of us left our loves one behind. I hope someday I will find my siblings. I left my family since I was two days old.
Wow! Your siblings!? I hope you guy get the chance to reunite someday. And thank you for watching. Much appreciated

Believe me, I went through the same things with my kids. I was lucky enough to grow up around my grandparents. That really helped.
The loyalty, the importance of family is what makes this story important.
Your cousins are your first friends in your young life.

So happy to know that you as the son can speak Hmong so good. Your story is not so much different from our stories.............
Thank you. I appreciate that. And yes, most of us share a very similar background/story.
Thank you for this. My soul needed to see and hear this today.

I actually live in the states now. And yes, we grew up in and around the community so it was inevitable.
You need to have your mom and dad to share how the met, and ask your mom to share what
Geography and distance won't stop family coming together. Happy for your family. Question: why is it that your parents speak French and you speak English?
We are multilingual. We speak French, English and Hmong. I was born in France and later moved to the US. Learned Hmong through the community.

the U.S should definitely open a program to reconnect families that have been disconnected because of the war
And France too since a lot of Hmong also migrated to France, especially the overseas department of Guyane Française
