Kenny, I can't believe I found you on UA-cam, and I'm glad I can tell you: "Respect man!" after so many years of enjoying original OMF theme song. I'm amazed by this piece since 1994. when I played the game. What an incredible piece of programming indeed. When I was a kid, I played the song over and over again listening left and right channels separately, admiring your skills composing all those instruments on only 4 channels. Yeah! Started on Scream Tracker 2, then Scream Tracker 3 and into Impulse Tracker. Also a bunch of other trackers in-between for projects. Eg. CDFM, MultiTracker... :)
I remember saving up allowance just to order the floppies for this, truly was a great age for DOS gaming ! I still have them and the CD later released, I miss epic megagames. @kenny chow your must literally got me into this genre, so thank you!
Someone finally mentioned the Stadium theme! I'm typically critical of my own music, but I liked writing that particular song. The bass line was inspired by a Die Warzau song I was really into at the time.
I kid you not, this is nostalgia incarnate. This is one of those things that keeps me awake at night, going around and around in my head. I love this music so much. Thank you!
OMG, this is awesome and I got goosebumps just listening to it. Excellent work ! And many thanks for the original compositions as well. Me and my sis we just loved all the OMF music !
I was 10 years old when this videogame released. I played it for 3 straight years because the music was so immersive and it set my young mind's imagination on fire. You sir, have done me a great service growing up and I just want you to know I appreciate it so much. Thank you for all you've done. I'll keep listening.
I think a remake would be nice. Make the music more modern, give the graphics an overhaul, but leave ALL the attacks and such the same. Make it 3D but obviously still a fighter. I can see a remake like that bringing back old fans and new.
The ability to say 'thank you' to the person responsible for the One Must Fall: 2097 soundtrack: priceless. It's safe to say that the title theme, menu music, and power plant theme (we had the shareware version back then) cemented themselves in my mind as some of the most enjoyable video game music to listen to. This is a beautiful remastering, bringing back fond memories. I may be forced to dust off my copy and DOSBox it up this evening. (Katanas rule.)
Wow, i never thought of meeting one of the OMF-Creators here on UA-cam. OMF 2097 actually was the very first Game i bought. 18 years ago, at the age of eleven. I can truly say that you influenced a big part of my life: The love for Games! THANK YOU!
Kenny, thanks for being a part of some of my fondest childhood memories. Man you have no idea what kind of impact you've had. Just wanted to let you know, carry on.
I barely ever comment on anything but this.. is amazing. I have listened to the original track more than probably any piece of music, digital or otherwise, and this remake by the original artist just blew my mind. Thanks you so much for this and the of course the original music of OMF2079, still one of my favorite games to date. Here's hoping you'll get the chance to rework more of the OMF-music.
THANK YOU! I have had this song stuck in my head for 30 years now! one of the greatest pieces of music ever composed. Thank you for updating it to really take advantage of my new sound card. Can you please do Stadium? I would buy a remaster of the full soundtrack or pay good money to see you perform it live at a rave.
Wait a minute. You're Kenny Chou? I know everyone already said this, but do you know how awesome you are? One Must Fall 2097 has one of the best soundtracks to any video game ever! And of course, the title theme here is positively LEGENDARY. Shamefully, I have not made a remix of any music from the game. I really should, though. I kind of have my eyes on the Fire Pit theme ("One Must Fall! 4"), actually... That theme is pretty great.
Just stumbled across this. I'm grateful for the opportunity to thank you personally for a tune that's been a favorite since I first heard the original, almost 30 years ago; this is a great remix, and will surely go into my collection/playlist alongside it.
Oh my goodness. You just threw me back nice 18-19 years. There wasn't really a better feeling than beating your friends in OMF. I loved my shadow. Oh those memories!
Damn you and all your requests. :] Hmm, I always wondered how the Desert theme would be like with a real guitar, or at least a more realistic guitar synth... hmm...
2018 and I still love this track. It must be weird for Kenny to think that he has influenced an entire generation of people across the world.... :). Im 32 and ill love this song till I die.
It's a great piece of music ... I got nostalgic and happy at the same time. 2021 and I'm still listening to it, now that OMF2097 is freeware. Thanks for the update !! A hug

@wangm3ist3rG I remember listening to my first .mod, then finding out how to create my own. All I did after school was rush home to work on tunes. I actually found a disc with most of my early stuff. They were some shitty ass songs, but oh... the memories they produce. :]
Ha ha I remember tinkering around with tracker music and all those samples back in the early 90s, too bad I lost all of those files. Generally it wasn't too special, some tracks were outright atrocious, but some melodies indeed were nice and now are lost to me :I.
I remember playing around with music using a commodore 64. At the movie theater a bit of music preceeded the movie. Using adr, I recreated that sound from using the computer!
Kenny thousands thanks for giving us this theme. In a rave was the f**ing song of the party and people dancind like jaguars in Salamanca, Spain!!!! Your theme has no borders
Often when I'm about to do something with a degree of competition - for example, in an hour or so I'm about to head out to play some indoor volleyball - this song gets stuck in my head while I'm pumping myself up. I loved the game back in the day - mecha and a degree of customization, nom nom. I still love the theme. Great job with the reconstruction.
And I'm back 6 years later. Listerning to the theme while - incidentally - pumping myself up, and had to do my every-couple-of-years playthrough of the tournament mode. Still love it. Even if it's gotten to the point now where it's just a little bit too easy (honestly, having the Jag as the starting mech is nuts; it's so damn good!).
You're the guy who did this piece in the first place? Truly incredible work! This game wasn't played by nearly as many as rough contemporaries like Mario and Zelda, but for those of us who did, this song is right up there with the most memorable game tunes of our childhood.
Awesome! I still have the original song on my computer. It's funny, how we wanted to give our addresses and phone numbers back in the 90's, but now when a stranger calls you, it's almost a panic, haha :) Different times, I quess.
I still remember back in the day when i was a little kid, I would often start up OMF2097 from DOS, just to sit in the menu and listen to this song play on repeat. Thanks a lot for the good Memories Kenny, this song is awesome and always takes me back to my childhood.
You, good sir, are a hero. Like many others, I also have the original as my ringtone :) The music made an already great game an amazing one. Thank you so much!
Oh my god, I had never thought I'd meet the genius behind this song online. You did some great work back then and you're doing some great work now. The video game universe should have more composers like you!
This is totally rad. Glad you're still around and know how much we all love your OMF2097 music. It's definitely one of my favorite soundtracks of all time!
You are a god among men, Kenny Chou. You're one of the reasons One Must Fall is the gem it is today, and one of the many reasons why I am going to continue the legacy.
I'm with @SilverKnight2138 on this one. You definitely inspired my childhood!! I remember for hours on end having the game pulled up just so I could hear this song. This is just one of those songs that seems like a lasting legacy. :P Nowadays it makes for an excellent ringtone on my smartphone and good driving music. You have mythanks for your creative genius!! :) Your an inspiration to us all.
Holy shit the original Kenny! OMF 2097 was (and probably still is) one of the best PC fighting games ever created. And the music was just so awesome that I always thought who would be the genious person behind it. And it was you! From the deepest recesses of my soul: THANK YOU!
Kenny - Wow, thanks! This has always been one of my absolute favorite video game themes and dance tracks in general. I really dig the spread of the original's lead with that granular feeling, but this was a pleasant surprise as well. Good job adding some new tweaks to a classic.
Hello from 2021 Kenny! Thank you so so much for the original soundtrack, and for this amazing remix/reconstruction! Bless you! One Must Fall is still my absolute favorite fighting game of all time! Cheers!
I think I was 9 or so when I played this game, and at the time this was the most amazing music I'd heard in my life, I'd sit on the menu just to listen to it over and over lol
Love this reconstruction, Mr. Chow. OMF and this theme is a big staple of my childhood. I remember making a MIDI recreation of your song on an AWE 64 way back in the day. Thanks for the good ole nostalgia.
I had one of the most pleasant events of my life listening to a chiptunes gig in Helsinki last year featuring Byproduct remix of this track and having a beautiful geek girl dance with me in the evening. Thank you, sir, thank you. You really are making the difference in the world.
It would be difficult to convert this to .mod. It's mostly VST based. I did try rendering down to sample once, but it came out sounding kinda static. Most people go by ear when remixing, or they just find the original .mtm/.mod versions online and work their way up. It promotes creativity working that way. :)
This is honestly a classic song, bringing back so many fond memories. It was such an amazing game, with a theme song that remains buried deep in my subconscious. Kenny, you are an artistic genius for making this!
@SilverKnightm2138 I just patted myself on the head. Close enuff. :] I heard the OCRemix version, and found it to be pretty amazing. I like how it blended elements of several OMF songs in one. :] As for remaking Power Plant... that actually is my current project. ;) Alas, Battlefield 3 came out, so it might delay the release. Duty calls! Pew pew!
I hope you still look at these comments because I still listen to this music. I don't hesitate to think OMF 2097 back in the day had a big impact on who I am today and this tune will always resonate with me.
MAN, Are you REALLY Kenny Chou!? got to be insane to know that you have influence a LOT of people on his music inspiration and styles, we grew up in the 90's with this nice videogame and of course that unbelievable OST :D I have made my own version the very first time i used modplug tracker, but it was only a scaled down with new battery and intro, and some distorsion guitar notes :D Dude, I would love to have my OMF2097 copy signed :D My friend Adrian will be nuts!! Greetings from spain!!
Kenny, way too late, but thanks for this epic gem of game score, OMF 2097 was especially great because of your work, it added this special flair and it will be forever in my heart. With all the 80s craze going on, Stranger Things bringing back the Synthesizer hype there's work for you as well I guess? Greetings from Hongkong!
Ahhh.... I was like "Reconstructed game of OMF... Finally!" but I found something MORE amazing! This is really nice remastery of main theme of OMF! You made my skin go gooze bumps just form the memory of the whole game. ^_^
Why did it take me so long to find this? The OMF 2097 soundtrack was so epic, I can still play ALL the songs in my head like it was only yesterday I spent my nights trying to beat just one more tournament...just one more, I swea..huh, morning already. And this new version is fantastic!
Man, I love you music Kenny. Not sure if you're aware of this, but I first found out about your music through a popular series called Freeman's Mind. The Power Plant Theme from ONF is featured in a small scene in Freeman's Mind Episode 2. Anyway, Thanks for making these awesome tunes :D

"To your surprise"? That doesn't surprise me, your music was one of the key things that made this game awesome.
Oh my god, I had never thought I'd meet the genius behind this song online. You did some great work back then and you're doing some great work now. The video game universe should have more composers like you!
An absolute legend.
This is totally rad. Glad you're still around and know how much we all love your OMF2097 music. It's definitely one of my favorite soundtracks of all time!
This reconstruction is sick! I've listened to it almost daily! Good job Kenny!
This is so good! I loved the game and so happy to see people still making content around it even to this day!
OMF-G... (hehe see what I did there?) Is this you Kenny Chou?? I bow to you, master... Long live this man's music
i love the song. Thank you for sharing.
Memberberrie of the highest quality.
I played the shiet out of this game and LOVED the music, Kenny Chow you are an awesome composer ;)
It would be difficult to convert this to .mod. It's mostly VST based. I did try rendering down to sample once, but it came out sounding kinda static. Most people go by ear when remixing, or they just find the original .mtm/.mod versions online and work their way up. It promotes creativity working that way. :)
Kenny, I gotta thank you so much! These video game songs are so important, and will be studied in the future for how they impacted youth culture.
This is honestly a classic song, bringing back so many fond memories. It was such an amazing game, with a theme song that remains buried deep in my subconscious. Kenny, you are an artistic genius for making this!
This tune is amazing. Up there with one of the all time classic video game themes.
I rate it right next to Guiles Theme and Vampire Killer.
You just made my day, I love this song. Have a great one mate!
The music from OMF holds a special place in my heart, and your remix is superb.
@SilverKnightm2138 I just patted myself on the head. Close enuff. :] I heard the OCRemix version, and found it to be pretty amazing. I like how it blended elements of several OMF songs in one. :]
As for remaking Power Plant... that actually is my current project. ;) Alas, Battlefield 3 came out, so it might delay the release. Duty calls! Pew pew!
I hope you still look at these comments because I still listen to this music. I don't hesitate to think OMF 2097 back in the day had a big impact on who I am today and this tune will always resonate with me.
This is the best remix I've heard yet. I loved the game, wish it had a better sequel though...
Thank you for this, one of my favorite tracker songs!
One of my favourite songs - and games - of all time.
With fighting games becoming more popular on Steam, is it wrong that I kinda want to see a revival of THE original PC fighting game?
If that's wrong, I don't want to be right.
Someone get on this, arrange something with Kenny, do a kickstarter for a remaster! SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
Heck, if they want to add more content, cannibalize it from Battlegrounds. Take some of the not-lame mech designs there and make them fit. :3
Looks like it's happening finally... www.openomf.org/
This is, by far, the best version of the theme music i have found so far. Good job mate :)
MAN, Are you REALLY Kenny Chou!? got to be insane to know that you have influence a LOT of people on his music inspiration and styles, we grew up in the 90's with this nice videogame and of course that unbelievable OST :D
I have made my own version the very first time i used modplug tracker, but it was only a scaled down with new battery and intro, and some distorsion guitar notes :D
Dude, I would love to have my OMF2097 copy signed :D My friend Adrian will be nuts!!
Greetings from spain!!
Wow how awesome to find this
Thanks for posting Kenny, love your work!
Hey Kenny, I´m Braziliam! You´re so Genious!!! I love the OMF theme!
As someone else mentioned, this song is one of the most remembered of the classic 90s PC games era.
This is some real professional skills right here. Thank you for resurrecting this awesome tune!
Thank you so much for this! I still listen to the original all the time.Brings back a lot of memories.
