Save one of the okra on the plants until the end of the season and let it dry on the stem. You can cut it open once completely dry(brown and shriveled) and use the seeds for next year.

I had to use many different tricks and " baby" them in order for them to grow with the desert climate. People in non- desert like climates in the US should have good results growing okras, especially the South east.

Did you mean: Another option instead of tissues? Is toilet paper or a thin material. As long as it's wet to create a moist cover for the seeds, as it gives it water to begin to germinate. I used paper in the past, placed seeds inside, fold it, lightly spray water, place in a sealed container and place it under my bed. Check in a couple of days for sprouting. Easy done

You can transplant okra by scooping with the soil instead of pluging it out totally from the soil... For me it worked very well...
