5 Tips to Grow Lots of OKRA | Ladyfinger Bhindi
Вставка
- Опубліковано 28 бер 2021
- Okra also known as ladyfinger and bhindi is a summer vegetable. Start okra seeds inside 2 weeks before the last frost and transplant seedlings outside when the danger of all frost is over. Okra loves water, so keep the soil moist at all times. Pick okra when the okra is 2.5 inches to 4 inches long. Okra loves full sun and heat and will thrive in over 100F if you keep the soil moist. Let couple of okra go to seed to save seeds for planting next year.

Eating Lady Finger regularly can help control cholesterol levels and keep the heart-healthy. Okra has been found to have lectin, a type of protein that prevents human cancer cells' growth. It contains Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Zinc, which can help in improving eye health. Thanks for uploading this video. Very good info.
This video has been an eye opener for me who has started a full size garden with okra as the main crop thank you and God bless
Lectin is bad for health, recently I learned Orkra has high oxalate, which will cause stones.
Thanks for the video I've planted Okra for the first time Thanks a lo😢
Yup. I grew 3 plants in zone 9b Arizona. They're thriving despite our infernal weather. Very pleased with this plant.
My family loves okra and last year was my first time growing it. I planted 12. Just wow. I still have massive amounts of frozen okra. This year i am only planting 4.
Lilly is so adorable as a pup and enjoy seeing her in the newer videos. She is still adorable as ever. Thank you Jag for all the videos that you make for newbies, experienced and those who just need a refresher course.
I just started gardening this year and so far okra has been the most satisfying. 4-5 days from flower to harvest, it’s crazy how fast it grows.
how is it posible please tell me some tips honesty
@@suryalatha2551 as far as I can tell, they like hot, and keep them watered. I’m in Florida and we planted around September. I’m betting late spring will be good too. Like I said, we just started this year, so I’m still in the experimental phase of learning.
I used rabbit poop one year my okra got eight feet tall and was picking it every single day. Okra everywhere!
Rabbit is the best 👍 🐇
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I wonder if home depot has some xD
Wow ! 🐇 💩 I wonder if Amazon has 😀
People have no respe
Lmmnv was our.
I live in Texas and okra is taylor made for Texas climate.
There are a few okra varieties that you can allow the pods to grow up to 16 inches and they will still be tender (Louisiana Long Pod) but the Clemson Spinless is the best tasting in my opinion.
16"...holy cow...!!!
Try Longhorn okra…
Long pods 8’-10’ and still not tough
Yes,I do love watching Lily🥰
Thanks a lot for your inputs. Just planted some seeds a couple of days back. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Thank you very much for the information! Now I can finally add okra to my vegetable collection this summer. Okra, along with asparagus, ranks first in my list of favorite veggies.
Perfect timing. Just started my okra seeds today.
Just about to start my okra seeds. Great info. IT HELPS ME seeing what to do with my acid problems I had last year. THANK YOU😃
My 6 yr old watched the video along with me and wanted me to tell you Lily is ADORABLE 😊
This is a great video. I think you covered everything!
Getting ready to plant this weekend. Thanks Jag.
Just started from seed few weeks ago.thanks for the video 👍
Lilly looks very happy ❤
Thanks for the tips. I just picked some up from the nursery and will transplant them tomorrow, but I will be planting some seeds also. Take care.
Great tutorial. I love okra and will be planting mine for a June 1 transplant date. I will be using biodegradable pots so I can plant the whole thing without disturbing the roots.
Thank you for the video that has lots of great tips. Love to see you and Lily interact so well. She melts my heart!
Out of all the plants I grow I must say I enjoy growing the okra plant. As you stated and I agree it does not attract many insects. This year I planted my okra in a raised garden bed. The spacing was not the best, but being close together the leaves of the okra create a very nice shade and I have noticed I do not have to water the plants as much like I did in years past. I live in Texas so that is a huge plus for my okra plants.
Thank you for the info. I'm 75, quite new at gardening and never have grown okra.
I like planting stuff that likes a little shade under them
Please look into alfalfa hay mulching. One of the benefits is that, this will greatly reduce the watering. And it needs to be deep mulching, with 2 or 3 inches I believe.
Thank you so much for posting this
Wish my pups would go after weeds. They love to dig in my raised beds. Trying to grow okra for my husband who’s originally from Delhi and loves okra!
First time watching one of your video. Your presentation is really well made. Lot of great closeup shots. Really pleasant atmosphere. And I especially appreciated the depth of information regarding okra - you basically covered everything I wanted to know about, seed to harvest. I am extremely thankful.
Thanks for sharing your experience with Ochoa. Love the flowers.
❤ God Bless You& Lily👏🏾👋
You're so right they don't like to be disturbed. I choose a spot on my garden and sow directly for best results.
I am attempting okra this year from seed! I think your videos are just lovely great quality and lovely on the eye and ear!

Very informative. Thank you.
Thanks! Great information on Okra! I put it in my raised bed. The heat in So. Alabama is perfect. It’s really starting to take off and it’s starting to rain everyday. Just added my homemade compost…Didn’t realize they love to be heavily fertilized.. Your Lilly is precious!
Thank you
Okra does well directly sowed in warm soil. I'm in Zone 6B (Louisville) and direct sow in late May to early June. They sprout and grow quickly, basically into a tree in these parts. By mid-summer, I'll start getting pods galore, and that's just from a few plants.
Thank you. I was wondering about direct sowing which I will be doing today, July 4th in zone 9b. Happy 4th to you and yours, Jag & Steve.
thank you for your time and information.

I tried growing okra in the mountains of Costa Rica and it wasn't happy. A friend at the beach in the Pacific side took my seeds and they grew 6 or 7 feet tall and produced enough for everyone who wanted it. My friend gave me a huge basket full when I visited, more than all my plants grew up in the mountains.
Now I'm in NC and hope to plant okra tomorrow, even though it's a little late maybe.
Perfect information
