Okra above all else makes you feel like a good gardener, it's so productive and hardy. Great vegetable to grow if you're needing to feed a lot of people. Love that bush variety! I'm trying a pink Japanese variety this year for my 5 year old niece.

Yes, I now have 2 plants since we cut the top from the bottom. The top started roots in water and the bottom now I am considering cutting as she is getting 4 feet again. For awhile stopped producing okra pods but still flowering those beautiful flowers, now producing both. Change cycles of life I guess, but tomorrow I will have 3 okra pods to eat. My beloved Plant Babies along with my strawberries, artichoke and tomato babies. Love them all.

For pests, you can also spray silver water or diluted hydrogen peroxide.

I tried these, I am in Florida, I sowed the seeds 60 days ago, the plant is beautiful and about 24" high. It gets watered everyday. I still don't have okra. It never produced. No okra, no flowers, no buds, nothing.

How much cow manure do you add in your soil mix?
How big is the barrel and how many plants can do u have there?

These are 24'' wide pots and 15'' in height. For plant food, I use worm tea every 15 days, a handful of organic fertilizer during planting and then after 2 months, another dose of organic fertilizer

Odd question: I've been told there is a reduced slime Okra whic is grown in Greece. Does anyone know the variety name?
Not sure of that variety but I think the slime adds to the health benefits of okra. Of course they are delicious too!
There is a Greek variety called Elinista? Don't know if this is the "low slime" variety

No I didnt. Soaking seeds sometimes causes more harm than good

I sow the seeds at the end of May and they started germinating very well. After more than 30 days (On Saturday 06/26), I added fertilizer and some potting mix (Potting Mix+Compost+Perlite) in it but the plant started drying after a day. Not sure what went wrong but what can I do in such situation to save plant from drying completely?

Depends on how much you eat. My kids can eat okra everyday so no matter how much I grow, we are still short!
But for one person, I think 6 plants should provide enough okra

I have a question.... I used the paper towel method to start my okra seeds, they germinated, and I planted them in peat pots, but as they grow, the seeds won't fall off of the sprouts and it's killing my seedlings.
How do I correct this? I did soak the seeds before I started.

When that happens, it means that you didn't plant them deep enough. Plant them a little deeper next time and that shouldn't happen.
