This is a true life story. An Loretta wrote most of her songs. She is singing from the heart because this is her life an all she sang about threw the yrs. was written from stories in her life. Listen to songs like: Fist City, an The day I got the Pill, an Dont come home a drinking with loving on your mind. An she had some great songs as a duet partner with Conway Twittey that are awesome I think you'll like. An Loretta had songs in the early days that the radio wouldn't play but it didn't deter her she sang them anyway an everyone loved them. That's why along with her great voice that she became country music's Queen of country music. A legend!
Loretta Lynn was the real deal!! Every song she recorded was one she wrote herself all about her life...Love ur reaction to 'Window up above' by George Jones..
Growing up my mom drove us all crazy with Loretta Lynn and country music but as I got older I never gave it up because every song told a story with Loretta Lynn and they were always amazing whether sad, funny or just sassy. Country today not my thing because most are missing great vocals, the stories and the heart and soul of true country music.
See what you did to me !! Lol your shows are great you bring back good memories of me being young hearing this music repetitiously in our home so when I see and hear the songs with you bring back awesome memories being this little girl I would listen to the music in home my hairbrush and like a lot of little girls they also dreamed of being a singer just like Loretta Lynn or they would want to be princesses and that was my really fun time in my life.... so I want to thank you for bringing These Memories Back To Me so for the amount of time that I listened to your show I forget about the here and now and I just listen and dream again thank you stay safe peace and love Lisa Marie from Connecticut
She was married at 13 and a grandmother at 26. Coal miner’s Daughter was a movie about her life. Sissy Spacik won an Oscar fir playing Loretta. She even sang all the songs herself. Sounded just like Loretta.
Loretta was a badass with a sweet smile on her face. She sang the truth of her life & was banned by country radio stations 8 or 10 times because of it. Listen to all of it. Then find her gospel album. Fantastic.
I'll sub because you seem like a really good, down to the earth, sensible human being. And that's getting more and more rare to see in people. Keep up the good work. Great reaction. 🇺🇸😃👍🔥🎄
My mom cannot listen to this song without bursting into tears. She was a West Virginia coal Miner's daughter and she loved her dad my pawpaw very much. Very humble Christian man who had a lot of love in his heart it didn't matter the color of your skin. If you go to the Beckley West Virginia coal mine exhibition you'll see black men and white men elbow to elbow they all went into the mines together worked hand in hand and would joke they would all come out black lol. Humble humble hard-working people but they were happy and loved life.
I lost my uncle this year and about to lose another one. My uncle from West Virginia would take me up on those mountains on a bulldozer and I would scream my head off he would scare me so much. He was a tough guy but a gentleman. I had a lot of racism in my heart when I was younger brought on by my upbringing from a tough stepfather. My uncle said something to me that resounded in my heart as a little boy and he helped me out of that. These were good good people.
I visited her Butcher Hollar to tour her family’s house where she grew up. No words, you have to see it to believe it. It’s the size of a small living room in the middle of no where Kentucky. This song is her true story.
Loretta is my all time favorite female country artist. I've seen coalminers daughter easily over 100x. Listen to ...Wings upon your Horns, darkest day, and im the other woman. Her songs all have so much meaning. No one in my heart can ever compare to Loretta.
I am two coal miners' great-grandaughter. Robert Moore and Robert Rose, Keystone, West Virginia. Only Loretta could get tired and hard to rhyme. My grandmother comes a few counties away from where she was born, and they talked the same accent. Van Lear coal mine does sit at the bottom of Butcher Holler, outside of Paintsville in Johnson County. My favorite line from the movie Coal Miner's Daughter was "woman, if you want to keep that arm, you better get it off my husband".
"Borned," "warsh," rhyming "hard" with "tired." This was country with no pretenses. I've personally always preferred the more western-oriented styles of the older "country" music, but this gal made there be no doubt why the genre was named the way it was. Keeping it real, 1960s (1970, technically) hillbilly style. Her father died young, like so many other miners. Her baby sister, nearly 20 years her junior, is also a singer, but known for a much less raw, more refined pop style.
Yes, that's the Scots-Irish influence on upcountry Southerners, especially in the Southern Appalachians. My wife and I are both the first generation born out of the mountains. Our parents were genuine hillbillies. Anyway, I did some research and read a few letters from the 1750s written in America by Scots-Irish immigrants, and mailed to their family still in Ulster. "You'ns come and bring the young'ns with you'ns." That was within one of the letters. LOL We drop the g in fishing, hunting, etc., just as they did. "You'ns" is a contraction of "you ones".
She had a great voice. What was interesting in the late 80's/early 90' many of the then popular Club groups had some Pop, and Country artists sing their songs. Example was 1991's "Justified and ancient" with Country singer Tammy Wynette. Kon Kan's " I beg your pardon" sampled the country/pop song "Rose Garden" The Pet Shop boys had two singers sing two of there club songs too, Dusty Springfield in " What have I done to deserve this" and Liza Minelli in : Losing my mind: I still have all those 12 inch dance singles.
Dj Pj, welcome to Real Country!!! It's from the heart:). I would like to request a song by Mr. Merle Haggard, "Roots of my raisin'". Am enjoying your reactions!!
Loretta was an amazing advocate for women’s rights before it was cool with her unapologetic writing style and sass. She was a prolific writer and an incredible guitar player, mastering many difficult techniques. You gotta do more Loretta so you can really see what she’s about. No matter what she said, she always delivered it with that amazing smile!
She was one of those artists whose impact transcended the genre of music she performed. Fun fact: she has had more songs banned from the radio than all male country singers combined. She was honest, spicy, independent, and she empowered women. Unusual for both her times and her chosen music genre.
She is the Queen in my opinion. A lot of folks say Dolly is but Loretta paved the way for her . Patsy Cline took Loretta under her wing. She was her mentor and very close friend. Love Loretta sooooooo much. She writes her own songs and they are autobiographical. Here's my list: Fist City The Pill You Ain't Woman Enough (to take my man) You're Lookin at Country Just a few to start with. I am 65 and have loved her my whole life. Her husband was a notorious womanizer. Her life story is told in the movie Coal Miners Daughter. Great movie.
Another great distinct voice is Tanya Tucker!! She recorded Delta Dawn at 13yrs old. Beautiful song! I like all her stuff, but What's Your Mama's Name & Delta Dawn are my favorites!! Please check her out!!
Hi, I love the fact that you are probably only listening to all this incredible music because you LOST a bet but you turn right around and now look. It feels like you felt like anything but country! That is how I see it. Your story tickles me. You WON!! Please play Anan Jackson DRIVE official video. It feels so good and I can imagine my life like that!
I am sitting here at work right now listening to this and ironically I work at a coal mine. LOL Love Loretta. She has a huge catalog of great music and she wrote this song about her own family. It was also made into a movie with Sissy Spaceck playing Loretta.
I love both Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton because I was raised very similar to both of them..I was the 9th child of 10 kids in our family and was raised in a holler also and l was 20 years old before I lived in a home with indoor plumbing..lol
Your childhood story reminded me of my mothers childhood. Poor and no electricity till she was 16yo. Only difference was she lives on a tobacco farm in Kentucky. It was too far west into the state for coal.
She was really born in Butcher Hollar in Kentucky actual hillbilly that came from nothing but her voice made her millions! She’s in the Country Music Hall Of Fame
Nice reaction! Welcome to country music! Loretta, the Queen of Country Music, changed country music when she got there. She was the 1st female Entertainer of the Year. She was the most awarded female country artist and the most #1 songs, 24 I think, unless Reba has overtaken her on that. Not sure of which is first now. Both are outstanding! Love Loretta! Try her songs You Ain't Women Enough, Fist City, If Your Looking At Me You're Looking at Country.
This amazing lady turns 90 y/o this April. I hope that there's a big celebration for this amazing icon who always made her pride in family and religion very clear.
You have an intelligence and insight into music that most reactors do not and that is refreshing! A lot of them either don't get it or phone it in and don't really pay attention.
Thank you for doing this. I have not seen anyone else react to Loretta and she definitely deserves more attention. She was my Mom's favorite singer and this was her favorite song because my Mom was also a coal miner's daughter. I miss my Mom but this makes me know she is still smiling with me.
Loretta is another one of those before/after artists. She changed country music by saying things we all were feeling and thinking, but hadn’t been addressed in music, songs like The Pill, One’s On The Way
Wow, how young she isi this video! What a country music pioneer! It's like trying to get your friend to listen to a song you love. Great reactions and thanks for graciously inviting us along!

The movie about her life, “Coal Miner’s Daughter” is worth watching. She really had quite a life.
She was married at 13 and a grandmother at 26. Coal miner’s Daughter was a movie about her life. Sissy Spacik won an Oscar fir playing Loretta. She even sang all the songs herself. Sounded just like Loretta.

I grew up rural poor; this song resonates, my folks worked so hard to take care of us.

What an incredibly lovely lady. I envy anybody who had known her personally.
Loretta Lynn Fist City is a great song

I am two coal miners' great-grandaughter. Robert Moore and Robert Rose, Keystone, West Virginia.

What a line! She was not playing around. I appreciate you being here
She lived it, then wrote it and finally, sang it!
I love her voice!

Loretta is a true gem of the Country Music genre.

Thanks again. Great reaction. This is her life story. My favorite Loretta song is “Fist City”. Her life was something else.
You should discover Buck Owens and the Buckaroos, Rita Coolidge, and Susan Raye.

Stupid question, what is a holler?
Holler aka Hollow. A valley usually between mountains.
Yeah...if u lived up the hill a ways you would holler at your neighbor across the way

It's hard to believe but Loretta Lynn had songs banned from radio station. I know one of those songs was, THE PILL
She could be singing about any family of any race
The ultimate success story. She's came a long way from that holler
That kinda work is satisfying and actually less taxing than all this automated stuff
This is an autobiographical song for Loretta. A movie with the same title, based on her life, starring Sissy Spacek was made in 1980.
