That and the fact that Windows isn't really optimized for handheld devices. Things might change with later generations but atm, I think the Steam Deck OLED is still the best deal.
I like that they're making some improvements over the Deck and others like the 1080p screen, newer (probably more powerful, who knows yet) processor, Hall Effect controls, etc. But MSI has a history of anti-consumer decisions with their products, so I am not as open to trusting MSI will do right by the user with the Claw.
Healthy competition in the handheld gaming space is always a warm welcome! Happy to see this thing being as user friendly as the ROG Ally. Shame though that they too when with the 2230 SSD instead of a 2280. But I'm sure like with the Ally, the Chinese will give us a solution to make it possible to run a 2280 without modifications to the case.
@@RoseStrohm There is a lot of competition now, Nintendo always has people flock to there Zelda/Mario games so they will be ok no matter what. Been loving my Steam Deck, console experience without the walled garden experience you normally get with consoles. Edit: Well maybe not hard to beat, but there is a LOT of options now for a portable gaming handheld, not just the Switch.
I love the repairability of this thing but I'm skeptical that they chose Meteor Lake inside. I feel like they could've gotten more if they went with hawk point.

Besides, a lot of budget ballers use integrated graphics whether its intel or AMD just because it's cheap, and on this line-up of chips, which arn't even made for normal PC's, the graphics hold up about as well as a low-midrange GPU in 1080p.

I love how we have so many handheld PC's being manufactured these days, growing up we had Game Boy or Game Gear, one was way smaller and used way less batteries lol. I think I still like the look of the ROG Ally best out of all but this one is very compelling.
My most recent MSI is the Pulse GL66 and I am looking forward for this one to get sold in Europe, especially The Netherlands, although I don't mind driving a bit into Germany.
I’ve gotta give MSI credit, recently a lot of their products have been pretty easy to take apart. Having just put a water block on my GPU, it took me maybe 10 minutes to get it apart which was just because of screws but almost all of the screws were the same size and if they weren’t it was obvious where they went.

It's great to see the handheld category expanding as fast as it does, very much looking forward to getting one in the future.
Love that the video is so short and informative, will watch way more if they all so short
MSI: makes CPUs
Also MSI: makes a handheld
MSI again: Uses Intel Cpu
Huh? Im scratching my head with this one.
since this vid came out 13 seconds ago i can tell you this is a classic
@3:21 Of course they do Linus, because every tech dude, slash gamer. loves you.
The only thing missing for me is detachable controllers like in Lenovo Legion GO - I think it's gamechanger, because you can use it as a tablet
whoever came up with that ad needs a raise
Healthy competition in the handheld gaming space is always a warm welcome! Happy to see this thing being as user friendly as the ROG Ally. Shame though that they too when with the 2230 SSD instead of a 2280. But I'm sure like with the Ally, the Chinese will give us a solution to make it possible to run a 2280 without modifications to the case.
the switch 2 has to live up to these now
Is there performance difference between 2230 and 2280
The difference is higher cost on the smaller stick per GB, and heat dissipation capacity is much lower
@@RoseStrohm There is a lot of competition now, Nintendo always has people flock to there Zelda/Mario games so they will be ok no matter what. But stuff like the Steam Deck that can go for under $350 and can play games like Balders Gate 3 or Hogwarts Legacy without the setting set to full potato mode like the Switch is going to be hard to beat. Been loving my Steam Deck, console experience without the walled garden experience you normally get with consoles. Edit: Well maybe not hard to beat, but there is a LOT of options now for a portable gaming handheld, not just the Switch.
@@FnD4212 Of course there is difference. 2230 form factor SSD has no DRAM.
I love the repairability of this thing but I'm skeptical that they chose Meteor Lake inside. I feel like they could've gotten more if they went with hawk point.
Honestly, please have Dennis do more of your sponsor spots. The claw was cool and all but Dennis was by FAR the true entertainer in this video 😅
Agreed😂
I hope more handheld manufacturers start using naming conventions like kung-fu movie fighting styles. "My Claw will beat your Lotus." "Yes, but my Crane will outmaneuver your Claw."
ALL HAIL THE CLAW
I'LL GET YOU GADGET!!!!!
Okay props to msi for letting check the inside on a pre production unit before release date!
$50 for more 512gb :O . That's not bad and a real good deal.
Steam Deck single handle changed the handheld game. I love steam for this. Even though Rog is my daily driver. My steam deck will always be displayed with pride.
Using intel integrated graphics is pretty odd IMO
It's not odd at all. What else are you gonna do, put a 4090 in it? Besides, a lot of budget ballers use integrated graphics whether its intel or AMD just because it's cheap, and on this line-up of chips, which arn't even made for normal PC's, the graphics hold up about as well as a low-midrange GPU in 1080p.
Meteor Lake graphics seem to be pretty good and roughly on par with AMD
It's odd because AMD integrated graphics is better than Intel integrated graphics.
@thegruia998 it's simple, AMD integrated GPU is much more powerful
I think he's calling it odd due to previous integrated graphics from intel were very power hungry and not very much performant for the wasted wattage
Dennis paying off the damage by selling ads is funny
I would love to see a true side-by-side comparison of the mobile gaming systems. I find it strange, that Lenovo Legion Go is not well covered by LTT. Seems, like Lenovo did not offer enough money
4:11
52 Wh battery
2 hours in 35W TDP mode (=70Wh)
8 hours in 10W TDP mode (=80Wh)
+ power for fans, screen, ssd, etc.
I think there are some problems with math
Here's the calculation:
Convert mAh to Ah: 4700mAh / 1000 = 4.7Ah
Calculate theoretical runtime: Runtime (hours) = Battery capacity (Ah) * Battery voltage (V) / Device power consumption (W)
Runtime = 4.7Ah * 11.6V / 35W
Runtime ≈ 1.56 hours
The modularity of this thing is nice to see. Too soon to tell, but the performance and battery life seem really impressive. If it had touch pads like the deck I think it could be a contender for the top spot. That said, using windows on a handheld is kinda like pulling teeth. I'm curious if MSI can come up with a solution better than the ROG Ally did. I hated that thing.
I love the bargaining over opening it, and that Linus will still send it to open the thing.
Whoever decided to use a crappy Intel chip for this instead of AMD deserves to get fired
Haven't found that channel yet that's just an archive of Dennis' ad spots.
Need to show people these, they're amazing.
No OLED screen = No buy
can't wait to see the full review of this first Core Ultra-powered handheld!
With those specs, you could watch all your tech tips in 4k anywhere!
THE CLAW
This did not age well
So cool and asome that msi build a gaming handheld i guess msi heard me cuz i comment in a video saying i would love to see other gaming companies brands build a gaming handheld.
I love how we have so many handheld PC's being manufactured these days, growing up we had Game Boy or Game Gear, one was way smaller and used way less batteries lol. I think I still like the look of the ROG Ally best out of all but this one is very compelling.
lmg is making a precision screwdriver kit? RIP the ifixit sponserships
Wow~~Love how Linus doing the intro!!! MSI Claw looks so interesting!!
I always love the MSI booth videos
My most recent MSI is the Pulse GL66 and I am looking forward for this one to get sold in Europe, especially The Netherlands, although I don't mind driving a bit into Germany.
The Claw's our master!👽
Okay the sponsor read is legendary 😂
I’ve gotta give MSI credit, recently a lot of their products have been pretty easy to take apart. Having just put a water block on my GPU, it took me maybe 10 minutes to get it apart which was just because of screws but almost all of the screws were the same size and if they weren’t it was obvious where they went.
Thunderbolt is great. Because it "future proofs" the device to a degree. It also means the device can be truly used as a desktop computer.
I love the penalty for breaking it isn't money, they know LTT and negotiate in sponsored videos
Nintendo: "*chuckles* I'm in danger"
Ah, yes. MSI. The ones who make laptops whose screen hinges break after a year, they blame the user, and want 300$ to replace the broken parts.
