Finally, episode 42. I've been refreshing my feed every 5 minutes for a week!
Thats a lot of refreshs
@@youssef6222 2016 refreshes to be exact
@@joerz666 r/theydidthemath
glad to hear im not the only one
You should've taken all that effort to wipe the brown stuff off your nose! 😉
Man I've missed this. Been checking UA-cam several times a day in hopes this would get released. Thanks for the killer content, Eric! If you posted 5 of these things every day I'd watch them all.
Me tooo woooo it’s here ❤
When I'm up material but behind on time, I prefer a strategy of blundering back my material as quickly as possible to simplify the position.
Impressively solid and yet agressive play by first opponent.
"My oppenent got very damaged there": 😂😂😂 22:23
Eric’s wit gets me every time lmao
Loving this series, and especially the last few episodes which have featured players at roughly my level for this time control. Eric is such a good teacher and I love his clear calm analysis and respect for opponents.
This is my favorite series on youtube!! not just chess series, but my favorite series. This is great stuff, thank you for all you do eric!
Never got excited for TV show or series like this. I really enjoy these episodes! Sometimes they make me laugh with your funny statements like "my opponent is playing a speed game" Don't know I'm the only one that laughs with such statements 😅 time runs when I'm watching these videos. Thank you Eric! Been waiting this for the past weeks.
Eric plays chess like Bob Ross paints
Pretty sure the last guy's user name would translate to Mate in 23, since the last 5 digits can be interpreted as binary. Maybe a game that has significance to him finished in 23 moves?
I thought the same thing and funnily enough, there was a potential mate on the 23rd move if the opponent wouldn't have defended with the rook. I was nearly expecting they do it for the lols.
I'm eating up this series! Glad to see you back again, and as always, thank you for the content.
That picture wouldn't happen to be the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, is it? It looks like it.
It was! There were several national scholastic tournaments held there throughout my childhood.
Great series, always look forward to a new speed run uploads from mr Rosen, I’m “for choice” :)
23:29 Maybe it's binary, so it's mate in 1 + 2 + 4 + 16 = mate in 23.
he last 28 moves, almost😅
I came here to say exactly this :)
Thank you for coming back with more amazing content. Entertaining and instructive as always. Looking forward for the next episode! Best :)
Always nice to see a video from the mellow Rosen! Keep it up my man!
thanks for this video and for all the instructive content over the years!
thank you eric for the great content
Great episode, man
Eric, you've created a monster. Everyone wants to watch you go undefeated to the GM level on this journey - which means, at least for me, I check everyday to see if you've put up the next vid. Your calm analysis of your every move is such a gift. You are very appreciated.
Hey Eric :)
Hope you are having a great day. Thanks for the video
Oh man when I see your video I immediately bring some food and popcorn to enjoy my time
This is the best thing ever❤ thank you Eric
15:58 that whole run was a picture perfect way to convert a material advantage. Bravo!
Love the series
I liked this episode a lot because the last game was very controlled and smooth, not like some games in the middle of the speedrun where the position is total caos.
Is very nice to learn how to play a positional game and with stategy instead of tactics!
This speedrun and Narodeisky's are the best. Waiting for the next episode!
"There might be the possibility of Nd4 Qf6 takes takes takes. I might have to save...okay, well never mind."
Dude nice, make more videos like this and more games
Brian Dama Ged. Oh, wait, that's Brain Damaged!
Thank you for the video, Eric. Hope you’re well.
HE'S BACK!
MOM!
HE'S BACK
My god, about time. You’re killing us.
If caught in a cave with a wild boar and that boar was named Levi, botez, mangus or Rosen, Rosen would be the one I'd be worried about, from a long time watcher. Go Rosen
I missed those 😁❤️🙋🏻♂️
Literally thought earlier today 💭 wonder when Eric will do a speed run video
Great! Waking up in European time zone with this is gold!!
Don't let Kramnik see that streak.
😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Finally it continues. Now that was a suspense. Let’s binge…
Great games!
I have also been checking my feed every hour for a week and a half... It was torture, I really hope you will be doing another speed run after this one. This should be your new bread and butter, the speed run episodes have to be among your most watched videos?
No way I look for anything else after I get the rook and king fork. Shows why I'm rated as low as I am. I'm trying to get better, though, and I'm loving these videos.
Oh no my day
I am somewhat amazed that he usually answers e4 with e5 and still avoids draws. I would have thought that an IM would always use the Sicilian or Alekhine against amateurs.
Feels so good to see another episode! Keep them coming.
Fantastic series Eric.
Was just looking at your evaluation of that last game. Doesn't Nd5 save the queen from getting trapped by facilitating Nb6 after Black plays Bb7 and counter-attacking the Queen? All lines seem to result in only loss of a piece instead of a full queen. Can you check this?
Cheers from Adelaide, Australia! 🇦🇺
Good game 👍
The 10111 in matein10111 is binary for 23.
I like the current set up...at leaste we can see you clearly and the boaed as well
Is there a chance, that in the next episodes you could play openings with D4 (as white), since most of the time when you are white I belive you play e4. I think that would be very instructive :)
Loving it so far but for the second opponent being 1550 it would be cool to consider the settings in searching for a game - possibly Leo of +- 50 or even 25?
I was literally just rewatching one of your episodes and you finally uploaded! Immediate click
Taking a break in the middle of a speedrun? Ok man...lol
Awesome as always, especially game 1. Why do you get paired with lower rated players after beating higher rated players?
I wonder if at 8:05 white to move: bishop d5 is a good move ? You can't take cause triple fork . Please advise me
Ive been playing for most of the afternoon and just made a couple of silly blunders, I needed this!
That second opponent was interesting. I think they're the type of player with really strong instincts, hence a decent rating, but don't really know the fundamentals. He didn't seem to have a plan, and that was obvious with the non-traditional opening. But I bet they're normally a decent positional player and can do well against most players their rating. It's just that you're able to punish their mistakes far better than any random 1600. I bet with some instruction or at least some work on openings and thinking they could really be a decent player.
oh no my addiction
131 wins
Kramnik enter the room
I think the last person's name means "mate in 23" but in binary 😅
24:00 I think opponent was going for binary for 23 so matein23
hello, I have a question, at 9:54, 9:54, aren't you in danger if instead of taking your rook your opponent trade queens and then take your rook ?
Oh yeah we're back!
A well spoken, witty and mellow IM offering online lessons for free has the audacity to skip a couple of weeks before uploading his latest in a series? Off with his head! 😱
We need one video per day.
19:09 as a Spanish speaker this part is funny
We are so back
14:05
After Nf3, why wasn't F4 played to trap the rook?
Rxg5 hxg5
Nxg5 wins the queen
"I'll pay openings I did at this age instead" plays e4 lmfaoooooo
yes sir. \O/
There is no way I watched 42 speed run videos! 🤯
Finally, this whole sleeping 8 hours thing was getting exhausting
42!
Weird to think I'd be lucky to win against you out of 100 games.
131 wins interesting
After my 3 game losing streak, I needed some actual good chess gameplay to get me back on track.
Was that photo at the Gaylord in Tennessee for nationals
Yes!
14:20 missed f4 trapping the rook? I know he gets it later but could've been done earlier
There was a fork on g5
@@vladyslav737F4 is the best move actually
It is still clearly winning, but the way he did it avoided the loss of his pawns
🎉
I'm still waiting for the first loss or at least a draw😂 probably up to around 2k3 elo 😂
It took a while for episode 42. He kept losing to these 1600s, but finally got back on track.
Posting a speed run video is a rare tactic indeed!!
Nice Roc pfp. Nice to know there are other chess/ DG people out there. There are probably dozens of us!
Is italian the new name for gioco piano?? (Sp?)
Old names
*Eric:* I'll give you a 60-year head start to get to 1650 before I do.
*Me at 7:* Heh heh. Sucker.
*Me at 67:* Dammit!
8:17 would Nf4 and d4 have trapped the rook?
No it would've dropped a pawn I think. Nf4 Nxe5 Nxe5 Rxe5 and the rook is free
We knew the rating had to be US because of the hairdo 0:32
It’s been too long! Haha
What a hairstyle you had back then! Rofl.
I can't wait until Eric finally loses to someone. 👺
Hooray! You're back!!
Doesn’t Nf4 trap the rook here?
I don't get how players like damaged88 are rated 1550!
Just a comment to boost engagement,
was looking for an excuse to not have an early night. lets go.
You 2nd opponents name was damaged88. Then you beat him and said he got damaged. lmao
Will this account play against grandmasters one day?
I love you Eric
Hey Eric, I don't think there's a good way to not seem like a douche, so I'll just go ahead and ask: About your Twitch VODs, they are only available to subscribers. AFAIK that is an actual option someone would have to willingly turn on. I have watched so much content of you, including all the speedrun episodes so far and I didn't get sellout vibes from you. Any particular reason? If you wanted to preserve content to upload for UA-cam, you'd disable VODs altogether I think. It's a really rare thing to see content creators use on Twitch, which makes it all the more surprising.
Idk, my cynical side is running wild, but I actively want to give you the benefit of the doubt. Sorry to put you on blast like that. Sometimes I'd just really like to chill to some VODs of yours as timezones absolutely do not overlap at all, but VODs beig sub-only and me not being a sub makes me feel like I'm supposedly not enough as a viewer unless I pay up. (That's the ugly cynical side talking.)
Again, sorry for all the drama. I've been genuinly enjoying your content for quite a while, which made it even worse to type all this out and sound like a damn psychopath.
9:55 can someone explain to me why white wouldn't trade queens first and then take the rook so that it could still have its knight on the board?
Black can take back with the rook!
Ohhh blind spot! Thanks haha
Did he miss QXQ?
.. at 6.56 first game. After exchange of queens he could have captured the rook.
I assume you're referring to the position at 9:49. After Qa5 Qxa5, black can play Rxa5 saving the rook.
what happened to your hair color
