You are correct❤ . coyotes attack live stock than wolves . Grampa use to put cowbells on the fence between every fence post . Everytime he heard them he would find coyotes in the field after the calves Kansas 1970 I don't think he found wolf had eaten any of his chicken rabbits or pigs . But he shot lots of coyotes inside the pins they killed two boxers pup's

Wolves were utterly exterminated from the lower 48, the federal government put a price on each wolf pelt of 20$. This program was ended until the 1930's, when the last Wolf in the lower 48 had been slaughtered.
The fear of wolves has never matched the reality.

Europeans brought it from the Europe. Native Americans admired and lived with wolves for thousands of years.
There is also a theory that wolves in North America were actually decedents of early dogs brought over and wolves followed the humans though the Bering Strait when it was still frozen when it's ten thousand years ago.
