Possibly one of the greatest toys ever created in the 70s
My favorite toy as a kid , if I still had one it would probably be my favorite toy today at 52 yrs old !😂
I was obsessed with this toy. My grandmother hated him because my grandfather didn't like him because he said evel was jealous of him and apparently they got into it a few times
Me too! I just discovered a company called California Creations is making them again. I know what my nephews will be getting for xmas this year.

Nephews?
I ordered one for myself a month ago, and now I was suckered into ordering the "white" cycle set the other day. I'm reliving my childhood, and liken' it.
53 years old, same here.
You guys are my age .I think we need to form a "club"😉😂
Evel knievel is an American icon that shouldn't be forgotten. At one time he was larger than life. I grew up with evel knievel
Im 63, my best friend bought me and himself one when it first came out, with money he took from his moms purse, I think about $12 each!
He did get a wippin and grounded, after that we did play with those things until they fell apart!
Great time of my life!
He was a jerk and an a... but he could jump a motorcycle.
53 years old and just got it today!! i wont be leaving my house for a few days!!
Man, I had one of these. Wrecked about as much as the real thing. This guy was my hero in the early/mid-70’s. Pre-Star Wars, I was all about Evel Knievel and Steve Austin (and Super Friends). 😂
don't forget... planet of the apes and kung fu 👍😋
One of the few toys that actually worked as well as the advert made out! Thinking of buying one of the new ones…is that sad?😂
BEST. TOY. EVER.
I lived in a foster home as a kid. We weren't allowed to really have toys, but I had Evel Knievel and that's all I needed. 52 and still ride to this day. Getting ready to pull out the R1 soon. R.I.P. Evel
I remember this toy when I was a kid. Now I'm 53. My aunt bought me this toy for Christmas. RIP to my aunt and Evil Knievel.
Had one in 1976 for Christmas. Dad built a ramp in driveway. It was incredible toy. Dad loved as much as I did
Best toy of a generation, ask anyone from gen x about the Evel Knievel stunt cycle! 🤗🤗🌹🌹❤🔥❤🔥🤟🤟
These were a blast as a kid !
About 40 years ago, I sat on the back patio at a friends house playing with this thing. We got that hand crank wound up as fast as we could muster and launched. 'Ol Knievel took off across the patio like a streak of lightning, not realizing the ride he was was in for. That bike, at full speed, ran right over the golden retriever's tail that was laying on the patio nearby. The flywheel powered rear wheel just kept spinning, as it wound itself up into the hair on the poor dogs tail. The dog, Rose, took off about as fast as the bike did....yelping in fear and running a hundred miles an hour around the back yard, like it was a racetrack. The dogs fear was probably exacerbated by the fact that the 'ol Knievel was still wound up in her tail hair and following her around the yard as she ran. My friend and and I may have both wet our pants that day. I'll never forget that. RIP Derek...miss you, buddy.
😂I'm picturing the poor dog and you boys in hysterics !!
I had this and the sky cycle. Tons of fun
i had sky cycle too... didn't work as well but looked really cool 👍😋
I had one when I was a kid. I LOVED it!
Loved this toy as a kid in the 70s!
there should have been a figure with this toy that flopped like a broken body when the bike lands..a choice of two figures, a good day Evel Knievel, and a bad day Evel kenievel :D
My favorite toy of my youth by far. That bike/Evel were nearly indestructible. Sad thing is that only nostalgia nerds like us will buy it. Kids won't play with that anymore because it doesn't have a screen.
I’d want it
boomer kids still like toys
That's bullshit, and I'll tell you why. Kids these days like toys that actually *function*. That's why most of what you see selling these days are robots, bicycles, Nerf guns, airguns, and the like. Kids still go outside, they just don't buy crap. I can almost guarantee you that if more kids knew who Evel Knievel was, they'd be clamoring to buy one of these monsters. I just ordered mine, we'll see what the young kids up the block have to say about it.
-Sincerely, someone born in the '90s.
I found a way to kill mine: shag rugs. To its credit, it actually got four feet across one before it got jammed up.
@@cubdukat Bro what were you thinking? 😂😂
I wore a blister on my hand playing with that thing.
Loved this toy when I was a kid!
This toy , The Six Million Dollar Man doll, Stretch Armstrong, and Smash Up Derby, Weebles, and Playmobil.....great toys of the 70's....and then came...Star Wars figures!! If there's a Toy Box Heaven...you know they got ....all those greats!!!!
my stretch armstrong cracked in his armpits... leaked red goo all over my other toys 😩.....that was the end of poor stretch 😂
@@butters395 When I was a kid in the 70s, Evel, Joe, and Stretch had a fight at my house. Stretch lost the fight and was bleeding. 😂
Had one of these. Great toy. Pretty sure I grazed my knuckles a few times in sheer determination
And my parents wonder why I started jumping everything on anything. Thanks Evel
My favourite toy when I was a kid in the UK! That bike took a serious battering but kept on going, even with a few bits missing, even after my Knieval figure got wrecked.
That said, I asked my mum a few years ago whatever happened to it, she said I got bored with it and stopped playing with it, so she eventually gave it to a jumble sale at the the local scouts. Oh well.
My Evel Knievel would do those jumps off my 6th floor apartment balcony. Wish I still had it.
A friend had one: Evel was best at going straight, it was just really hard to aim him for that ramp!
-most of the time he'd miss it and just keep on going!
-and that's why the Toy Evel never broke any bones: Ideal built him with a strong sense of self-preservation!
I had this back in the day when I was a kid. many decades ago. I loved it and would like to have one now at 58.
It's great that you can still get these. I had one when I was a kid, and 30 years later my kid had one, and 20 years after that a kid can still get one!
RIP Evel. Thanks for all the thrills. It's great to see that your legacy is living on for later generations to enjoy.
Where can I get one Brother ?
@@dizzodiz3714 They work great too!
Walmart or Amazon
40 years later,I still have the scar on my left ring finger from getting it caught in the gears! 😂
I still remember his last jump off of the top step just before the front end broke off. Where have all the good times gone.
Great memories for sure!
I just got mine I am in 50s love it - jumping with book ramps - company California Creations
This toy was unbelievable when I got mine in 1975... It was so incredible that it could be produced back then.. the best toy... ever made... Im 57 and just bought the remake... Can't wait to get it..
My favorite parts of the commercial
When the grownups are the ones playing, as I would be (0:09), sometimes while the kids are forced to watch. (0:16)
"Daaadddd! I wanna play tooooo!"
The way Evel's body bounces around the ground, just like in real life! (0:34)
The way Evel has the chin strap of his helmet covering his eyes, because he knows what horrors are coming. (0:54)
I had one of these as well! I remember we had a raised back garden and I made a ramp to fire it out the second story window and land in the garden... it did as well!
This is the coolest thing I have ever seen in my life.
This and my Ricochet Racer...heads up trying to collide them, holy crap, the memories
i remember having one of these as a kid! my favorite toy! i'm guessing 1978 ish
Good times, fun toy playing in the dirt. SST smash up derby set. Never did choke to death on small flying parts. When I was young we ate food!
I have scars on my fingers to this day from that toy!
I remember one of the first commercials had the melodic line "Evil whew! Knievel" but I think Evil didn't like it for some reason so they pulled and erased it from existence. It was cool! And I remember I and my friends used to chant the line and omit Evil and Kneviel and put in our own names! It was some hilarious nostalgia!
Back when they made toys. I remember opening this up on Christmas morning. Best toy ever. On the other hand we can by remote control quadcopter drones today.
Still have one and still love it! Also have a Robbie Knievel to match.
Brilliant video loved it. :) One of my childhood heroes.
I had every Evel Knievel toy made. I'm 51 and if I still had them I'd be playing with them
The best toy ever.
I want to buy one now!!! Waaah. That one of him jumping over the fence and wrecking -- too close to the truth. YIKES!
Lmao 🤣 I remember this in the 70’s!
My favorite birthday gift.
I had one. Coolest toy evers.
Heroes were certainly better back then.
I always wanted one of these back in the 70's. I guess I never asked for one for Christmas or my birthday. Not sure what the F I was thinking back then.
Someone took the audio of the original '70s ad and made a new ad with new footage? That's dedication.
This was one toy that really lived up to the advertising, & pretty durable. The bike finally met it's end being ridden by my friend's sister's Barbie doll, attempting a daring jump from a 2nd floor window- over a patio, and onto a raised lawn. Unfortunately she failed to clear the retaining wall... . The bike was wrecked and Barbie looked like Ernest Borginine after that impact.
Still haven't got it for Christmas..... Come on father Christmas.. I'm 48, can't any longer.
My brother and I got this toy for Christmas!!
Man, I got one too. That was the best damn toy I ever had, I loved that thing. I might try to get one now!
I was too poor as kid to have one and had to play with my cousin's when he let me. I'm getting it! My favorite 70's toy!
Evel Knievel and Bionic Man. Sorted. No Iphone, no Xbox, no TikTok just a brilliant time!
New Improved model out now, Got mine last week
I remember having that as a child, but I don't remember playing with it. Born 1970
0:27 Evel, going for the first back flip ever😁
Begged my Mum & Dad for one of these for Christmas in 1977, when I was 6 years old….if I remember correctly I think it was £9.95p….I got one & to my dismay my older brother snapped the left handle bar….it wasn’t the same after that as Evel wouldn’t stay on the bike as it kept snapping off, despite trying to super glue it😞
NEED this!
Loved thos toy
I still have my Evel Kenvel stunt cycle and doll in mint condition
I wish I still had mine. It would be something really cool. Didn't think about stuff like values as a kid
Never had this toy when I was a child. But my dad did build me a ramp and placed it at the end of the driveway. We lived on the busiest street in town. Boy was my mom mad at him. She told him it wasn't close enough to the street.
Had that when I was a kid
That is Duke Caboom Canada's greatest stuntman
I had that and the sky cycle!
Loved this toy. I always wanted the rocket bike though with the sparks
My favorite toy as a kid
My younger brother got one for Christmas. Started doing some jumps out on the front sidewalk with lower ramps than what they show in the commercial and a plastic gear inside broke within the first 15 minutes. That didn't last long.
Best toy ever!
DANG IT! I'm 23 yo and I want one of this more than my economic independency.
great vid
Had ONE!
I had one of those back in the day... but I don't remember it having shock absorbers. Wish I still had it. It would be worth a pretty penny. 😂
Our whole family played with this toy
We beat the snot out of it and it still kept going.
I had this !!!
Can't wait to buy it
This was the first $10 toy I ever saved for and bought with my “own” money. I was thrilled. I think this was in 1975 when I was 10
Love the 70's footage. I had the original back in 76!!! Oh what a toy...NETFLIX take notice for the next edition of The Toys That Mad Us. But ...seriously c'mon....this has to be directed to us (Late 40's and above) as collectors. What kid today would relate to this....They be like Evel...Evil...WHO!??
Reminds me of the SCTV parody super Dave Osborne. "How are you super Dave?"
"I'm in pain!"
Godspeed Super Dave

I remember I am 49
My brother loved this thing. He's greghg warner brooklyn ny. 70s
A lonely kids favorite toy I played with this thing for Days by myself that's all you needed was yourself this toy and some stuff to make ramps with like everybody else said this toy was indestructible believe me I did everything jumped it off the highest things imaginable literally jumped it into walls unbreakable
You can buy the sets at Cracker Barrel still
Ohhhhh nooooo Mr. Bill!
best $40 i've spent in a while!!!
who has it for $40?? Need this!! :) :0)

California Creations.
I've got the first one, and the new "white " bike set is on the way.
My only complaint is its from Ideal's "trailbike" mold and not the "Harley " mold but it's still badass. $45 including shipping. Well worth it to me.
Check out their website.
mine had the chrome forks... handlebars and exhaust...all my friends were just white plastic 🤔
They are available again
some of those bad landing's looked like the real evel 😂😲
Not sure which was cooler, this, Super-Toe football field goal kicker, or Whirlybird.
There's a weird mix of original and new footage included in this vintage commercial. It's all great, though.
I always wanted me one uh them thangs. But I guess I never got it.
That music's cool
At mark :50 there was a drone shot before a drone shot was called a drone shot. Back in the days. Lol😂
All my mates has one and I didn't. I'm 50 and looking on ebay for one.
All the toy minus the hospital expenses
I came here from that 70's show
