4500 as it's what I could afford lol, but it's also a tried and reliable unit, also I have a Gold Monster 1000 which is great for mullock heaps and creeks 👹🤓
Just bought my first 4500 (2nd hand). Went with this after a lot of research. Classic and trusted machine with heaps of coil options. Have found yellow stuff with the Legend too!
That mine shaft hole under the bush was deceptively deep, deep enough that we would not have been able to climb back out. A lot of shafts get covered up by sticks etc as well (false bottoms), so you really have to watch where you walk at all times. Cheers :)
As an ex hunter and now a prospector I’m constantly cursing myself for all the lead I put out there and now I’m cleaning it up one buckshot at a time. 😂. Serves me right! Love your vids Mish. Gold luck to you both.
Thanks Mish and The Coffee Kid for all the hard work! LOL Great to see you back again! I do hope your vacation was a good one! Keep up the good work and maybe the next time you'll be giggling over the bright yellow stuff!!!
Sadly not a vacation, I lost a family member... slowly making my way back but the videos might still be a little scattered here and there. Catch you on the next one Jesse :)
Thanks Pat! We filmed this one just before winter hit, but I finally had time to put it together for UA-cam. There's still one more collab up the sleeve which I hope to get out this month sometime. Then I'd better go on some more adventures. Cheers :)
It's great to see you again, Mish! My preference is beach, dirt, gold. The gold doesn't excite me much as far as searching for it. BUT, as I've said before, whatever you do... I just like listening to you. : ) As always, take care and God bless! ❤
Hi Mish and Andrew that was something new for me as well as you. interesting how the method is the same but finding is slightly different. it must give you a buzz every time you get a signal because it could be gold. You lead us to the place, i could not resist. thanks for the video looking forward to the next one ( gold )👍
Man Mish...it sure feels good to get see your videos again. I moved into some deeper forest with totally lousy wifi. With all the darned buffering it would take over half an hour to watch a 10-15 minute video. Hopefully I'm past that now. It was really great to get to see you and Andrew detecting again. I sure hope you still do some tide pool detecting sometimes. As I've already said, I have loved tide pools since I was a little boy. Anyway, it's wonderful to get to see your videos again! Be safe and well... Cheers from Hoodsport, Washington!
Moving into a deep forest sounds very appealing right now, Terry! Sounds like a delightful location despite the internet troubles. I'd love to check out the tide pools again. At the moment we are approaching the coldest water temps of the year, which is typically around September where I am, so it's not particularly pleasant on the hands but by November or so it should be more feasible. I do like putting them on videos, as there's always so much to observe in them. Cheers!
@@DirtFishMish and another great thing was seeing that Andrew of Adventure Gold was still making videos and surviving. I've thought about how he was doing for the entire year of no WiFi. Welcome back Mish & hi to Coffee Bush Kid. Enjoy ALL of your videos Mish. I'm heading to Northern / Central NSW end of this week from my home state of S.A.& I hope to have a day or 2 in Bendigo district on my way back in couple weeks time. Absolutely, you'll never know if you don't try! Hopefully you at least find an amazing relic/coin or two even if no gold pops up. Plenty of history left to find. Cheers :)
Hi again Mish. Well I'm back home in South Aus. Didn't find a lot on couple short goes detecting in Qld/NSW/VIC. Got one small silver on a rural property in southern QLD. Met CBK & Gold Digger Dave in Bendigo store. All the best, Lindsay.

I kept an eye out for you, but it must have been closed! you snuck by me! I had an sd 2000 back in the 90s and found nearly 3oz of gold, all nuggets, and they ranged from 1.5 to a 26 grammer but i didnt find much in the sub grammer range, it was'nt built for the tiny stuff. now days, you have to be lucky to get onto a good patch, and they are few and far between. coins and relics are my preferred targets now, and im happy with that! And im happy to see you back on the screen! Cheers Mish, good to see you, and that bearded bloke as well...! Hooray!
I definitely snuck this video out there yesterday, but I'm so thrilled to see my community flooding the comments again! Missed you all! I'm honestly tossing up between the 6000 and the SDC 2300, pros and cons both ways really, but a big price ticket difference too. Hmmmmmm. Cheers Wayne!

I’m considering adding an SDC into the mix as a second machine for the other half, the waterproofing is a nice little touch as well. Hope you’ve been having luck with the 6!

Thanks Pete, we only had an hour and the weather was pretty dicey so it was a case of simply trying a spot near where we could park our vehicles. It was still a good chance to hold the machine and get a feel for it. Tossing up between this or maybe saving some money and picking up an SDC (the waterproofing would be an advantage for me), but I wonder if the weight of the SDC would annoy me lol. Big decisions!! Cheers mate.
Hope alls well for you Mish. I'd like to see more, it's fascinating how the hope so often comes 2nd to the reality. There must be tons of lead and iron out there.
The anticipation for each target is crazy, especially knowing it's 99% chance of junk but the 1% could be a game changer! I can see why people get gold fever. Cheers mate.

We only had an hour before a rain front was due to hit, so there wasn't much time to overthink the spot - it had lots of promising signs there but plenty of lead shot too! Next time. Cheers :)
The SDC 2300 is what we run atm for gold. It's a great machine, but I find it a bit on the heavy side (I have some physical limitations). Would love a GPX 6000 but I'm also looking at another coin detector. Decisions. :-)
I really appreciate this comment, as it pretty much details the exact dilemma I am facing! Those are the two machines I am trying to decide between. The waterproof nature of the SDC is great for me given that I'd be likely to submerge it in water at some point, but I do dislike heavy machines and the GPX felt amazing to swing. Decisions indeed. :)
No worries at all! It's so important to have honest accounts on UA-cam especially for those considering the hobby, though hopefully I can chance across a nice little nugget at some stage. Cheers Paul :)
That's pretty much what gold prospecting is, finding a whole lot of junk and sometimes getting a bit of yella if you're lucky 🤣😂 Thanks for the video Mish and cbk 👍🤓✌️

Now if regular detecting takes patience, gold prospecting takes the patience of a Jedi Master! My only gold machine in the arsenal is a Garrett Infinitum (circa 1990s) it is a bit finicky and a bugger to noise cancel looking for a clean channel & may be a slow death sometimes... But it'll get the job done. But mostly here in sunny, and lately extremely hot Florida, i only break it out to search for gold chains on clean beaches just to chage up the routine. It is not a comfortable machine to swing with the original shaft, a must to get an Andersen shaft! But way better machines exist now!!! Have fun 🏖️🌊🪙⛏️⛏️⛏️
I'm currently tossing up between the 6000 and an SDC 2300 which is waterproof, but heavier - as I'm sure I'll be tempted to swing whichever machine I choose out on the beach! Hopefully I can pick something up later in the year. Cheers mate. :)
Well Mish. I have to be the idiot who says it. Those were the smallest sinkers I've ever seen you find. Very interesting vid. Seems like you need to swing much more slowly or maybe that was centering on the target. I wonder if I use my Nox 800 on gold mode would I need to slow the swing down?
heh heh heh. They're the goldfields equivalent of sinkers, along with musket balls. Correct, gold detecting requires a much slower swing as you're generally listening for smaller targets and sometimes they only give the faintest blip. A fast swing would not give the machine enough time to process what was going on under the coil, and finer targets would be easily missed. Take your time with the Nox, check old tailings piles etc and I hope you come across some goodies :)
Look, if they can train a pig to find truffles and a dog to find drugs, they ought to be able to train something to find gold. Maybe the ants could specialize. Just have to come up with a bribe that they can’t resist…..
Yep, you've got to keep your wits about you in the old gold working regions! Letting someone know your general GPS coordinates is also super important for the same reason. Cheers :)
QUESTION: Prospectors, what gold-specific metal detectors do you use, and why?
Sdc2300, Portable, waterproof and very simple to use.

heh heh heh.
If you buy one of those Mish, you won't be able to afford the coffees on those cold wet mornings anymore.
Hah! Fair point, but surely that massive gold nugget that's still out there somewhere would cover a few hot beverages. :)
Certainly Paul
Better luck next time.
Bom dia linda
Look, if they can train a pig to find truffles and a dog to find drugs, they ought to be able to train something to find gold. Maybe the ants could specialize. Just have to come up with a bribe that they can’t resist…..
🤣 I would be very happy with an army of gold-prospecting ants!
Is he your husband 😅
lol no, my husband is in several of my videos but detecting isn't one of his main hobbies. Everyone needs good detecting buddies. 😁
Nice hunt , I like beach hunts 😊
Hope everything is good for you.
Nice see coffee bush kid !
Great to see you back Mish.. those hidden mines scare the shit out of me. One step and........🫣🫣
Yep, you've got to keep your wits about you in the old gold working regions! Letting someone know your general GPS coordinates is also super important for the same reason. Cheers :)
