1930 Model A Pickup, woken up from hibernation.

- Time to pull the Model A pickup out of winter storage and get her ready for cruise season. We repack the bearings and adjust the brakes and take her for a cruise. I built this truck from parts a few years ago and powered her with a 2.2 Chevy 4 cylinder along with a 5 speed trans. The rear end is a 42 ford pickup banjo with open drive. and in the front we have a 3" drop axle and wide 5 wheels all around on it.

Thanks!
See now you made an old man cry, sold my 30A pick up same time my dog passed a couple years ago. Thanks for the ride.
Love the way the old truck looks on the road looked like it was straight outa the thirtys . Cool ride.
Thanks dude!
I thought the same thing. It looked so natural driving down that dirt road and parked in the field. The music added the final touch to make it seem like a 1930’s film. Well Done!
@@Jddvs that's why they have thin or nerrow tires to cut through the dirt roads, now that most roads are pathe the wider tires hug the road.
@Elvis Stone nope, I built it with the parts I had, this way I can fix and weld on it as it needs :)
Man that truck has the right stance. And the right look with the parts used. Made me smile when you raised the hood and see a more modern engine. Great job.
Thanks Dan, was just random stuff I had around when I built her.
The wheels on the ‘30 pickup are spot on: the perfect size and style.
If more people could just understand that contentment you've got there, the dog and an old truck! Way to go Brent.
Haha don't need much more
Your some kind of WIZARD . These old cars and trucks were just waiting for you to save them and bring back the memories.OUTSTANDING.
haha Thanks, yeah one persons junk is a car/truck in the making :)
I always come back to this video. Love this truck. Great to see she's still running.
I'd love a truck like that. Especially with a longer bed. What a gem
I am Always impressed w the different Ols School Velichles you Work on / Build..
Totally cool daily. No shame in having a four cyl. I wish more builders would make cool builds without race motors. It's vintage outside and modern mechanics inside. I bet it's a ball to drive around. There's a place for hot rods and you've got that covered too. 👍😎🍺
That 30 Ford pickup is another example of the variation of your collection.
Awesome!
Man you have all kinds of goodies hid out I haven't seen yet !
That's a neat little every day driver.
Always like those little 2.2l. Easy to work on basically sounds like a old s-10 setup. Seen these hi little buggers go dang near 300k with a little love
haha yeah this on is prob almost up there in the miles.
I love the whole vibe...and not everything needs a V8 to be fun.
Yeah man, I got my fail share of hot rods :)
@@HalfassKustoms ... in my neck of the woods we have a few hot rods with the 4.3 V-6 Chevy. The interesting thing is that with a dual exhaust it sounds like a wild cam is hiding in there because it's not an even firing engine. The 2.8 V-6 is probably a better fit, space wise (narrow V configuration) and sounds about the same. Either one will be at least 100 HP more than stock.
That truck is just plain cool along with the car u moved out of the way . U have a very good vision for making something cool out of nothing that will make anyone love and want. You have a super cool collection of cars that I would drive the wheels off of them and I know that u get tons of attention with them. Just plain ol cool truck. I would drive the wheels off of that thing cool stuff man
Thanks man
You could not have gotten the wheel combo and stance, along with the top chop more spot on. Perfect!!
Now Brent that just might be my favorite hot rod to date. Love that truck
Thanks John!
That is a peach of a low buck truck. There should be many more of these around instead small and big gas hogs. Favorite. Raced the 2.3 Ford for 6 years on the circle track.
U make really cool stuff. No two ways about it. Just beautiful. 😊👍👍
Your little truck rocks. So much fun. Never give it up. 😁👍👍
Staring at a gravel road down the hood of an old classic, you can just imagine what the view was like almost 100 years ago.
Haha I think our dirt roads where a lot nicer than the ones 100 years ago
The view was great, no doubt, how-ever it wasn't all fun & games. Why did a lot of vehicles carry 2 spares, a hand pump & tire tools? You could easily have 2 flats in 15 miles of driving. Lots of horse shoe nails, and other bits of metal on the roads/trails.
@@HalfassKustoms you should do a part 2. maybe a slightly longer bed and a few more custom things for the fall before winter?
Such a sweet little truck. It’d be a blast to take on a cross country road-trip. Load the box with some vintage style camping gear and mosey your way across the country. I can picture that truck at the side of the road with an army surplus tent setup next to it and a pot of coffee on a campfire.
Look like a newer door tag on the drivers door hinge post. Like the varnished wood under the top. thought the horn under the headlight and luggage accordion was a nice touch. The ragtime music fit perfectly with the cruise on the road.
Thanks David, She's a fun little pickup.
I LOVE IT!!!! ROD & CUSTOM RENNSANCE!!! I LOVE OLD MODEL A TRUCKS. SO SIMPLE. GREAT VIDEO & THANKS FOR SHARING.
I love that truck, and the music you choose was perfect, thanks for showing the old moon shine girl.
Love the ragtime model-a montage, courtesy of the drone footage. The drone adds a nice thick layer to the overall content.
Thanks man!
thats an awsome truck i like all your toys
Thanks Doug!
Very nice. Really like the odd choice of engine and the fact it's a driver. Really like your builds and the commentary about how you go about it.
Thanks dude!
That is a really nice daily driver, pure driving fun!
I was thinkin'...imagine driving that down the road in the 30's or 40's!! It would have been an alien on the streets with that stance lol....stares for days!!!
Yeah woulda been a little outta place in the day :)
Absolutely love your pickup from the roof chop to the rake. 👍
Отличный автомобиль . Мечтаю о таком . Вы настоящий мастер если умеете строить такие.
Cool little ride I really like it show the other classics you have in storage love to see them
Will do as summer rolls around and I get em out of storage I usually cycle them around in the summer.
That’s just like my grandpa’s truck was. He passed away in 54, but I still remember climbing on the stake bed and going for rides with him. I was only 6 when he died.
What a Magnificent collection of cars. I am so envious of you.
Thanks Kenny, theres a few years of building stuff in there haha
Halfass Kustoms I been following the Pontiac build. Mad skills and I love all your work but that A model takes the prize for me. I could see myself in that for sure.
Dang I Love that truck Simple n a everyday driver
It’s never a problem having too many hot Rods!
You bet :)
I say more rod's
The time you spend breaking down wiring is appreciated! 💪👍🏼
That truck is a nostalgia effect great! At 2:15 rockin perfectly the surround scene and the lot it's planted on. Love it...
Nice to see you with a old friend. Thanks for sharing.
That was awesome! Love your builds -- that looked like a great place to go cruising to in the summer for a good burger, fries and a shake!
It was, it's about an hours drive if one is just sight seeing around :)
Nice drivetrain combo... sweet ride
Thanks 👍
My brother just got his '29 Ford Pickup roadworthy. So far it's limited to trips around the neighborhood until he works out all the kinks.
The old rag time music playing made me think of my grandma Ruby. We'd go visit, and everytime we did, she'd sit down at her piano and play Alley Cat, and The Entertainer. There others she'd play as well, but I don't remember what songs they were.
Love that stuff too. Used to own an 1893 Kimball piano had that old tinny sound too it. Learned the entertainer as a lil kid in the 70s wish I coulda hung onto that thing .
Thank you very much, loved the Jelly Roll Morton tune you added at the end
That dog is lucky and enjoying the ride, nice truck.
I have a thing for these trucks. I think it's the grill, especially when it's chromed nicely or nickel plated. I prefer the latter.
Thanks for the entertainment & your music is just right!
Aloha from Kauai
Same here...grille, right period lights, light bar just give it a look that I never tire of.
"It's fancy. At least for me anyways." I know what you mean! Very very cool truck! Just awesome!
Very Cool, keep up these great videos.
Thank you.
I think you will find the antifreeze leak is from a crack in the water jacket in the head. It collects in the spark plugs tube and you will start getting a misfire on that cylinder. It's a common problem for a few years of late 90's 2.2's. I like that the truck is simple and useable. I'm glad to see you enjoy using it!
hmm I'll have to check that, hoping it was just some loose heater hoses.
Wow you're saving these cars and trucks from the crusher. That's a cool truck, nice daily driver. Perfect music at the ending. As always.great video.
Thanks Jay!
luv your model a pickup, its so got the cool factor, classic ride.
Thanks Neil
That is one sweet little truck (and cute girl too)!! I sure would drive that truck if it were mine, and be proud of it!
Haha we got a lot of miles on that truck.
Love, Love, Love. it Brent. You truly are a genius Mate. Billy J..... Australia.
Thanks Billy!
Thanks for showing us around. Cool the cars all started right up. Cheers, A
Haha for the most part they should they are both fuel injected.
Love the 30 pick up...man you have some great rides...that little truck is cool...
That is the most beautiful Model A I've ever seen.
Thanks man.
I'll take the crappy roads ( I have them also) for living in the country. I've lived in the same place for over 40 years & the landscape hasn't changed very much. Stay safe & enjoy our collection!!!
Thanks David!
LOVE the fact you kept the 4 banger true hot rodder!!
That truck is perfect, I like everything thats been done to it. Would love to have a daily driver like that someday.
Love that Model A p/u. That bad larry is the coolest!
Love the way ya put things together i know it takes time an i really appreciate all ya hard work
It'd be amazing to see a refresh from auto makers for these vehicles. Ford did that with their Mustang and it'd be just as successful with these old truck designs.
What a sweet ride! Cool passengers too! Fun when you can share your toys!
Beautiful 53 Buick Roadmaster Leadsleds are Awesome ..The truck is cool but she still needs Alot of work but she's Looking good and she's still counting milles so that's the main important part and The full lenth tins are a great addition and even though they're not the correct year doesn't matter a rat rod is supposed to be built from mixed matched parts that's the whole idea
That is sweet!! I would only change one thing on it! Ownership! Lol. Love those type of builds. You have way too much cool stuff. I'm living in the wrong side of the country! Lol
haha you got some cool shows out your way though, and congrats on the boom your channel got been watching your stuff :)
The 2" chop really suits the cab. I have often thought that an A or 32-34 pickup powered with a later 4 would make a cheap runaabout.
Yeah man, I have a hood and side so I can hide the ugly haha
That is such a great lookin pickup. Really glad I found this Channel.
Brent, thanks for sharing with us all, you have built some really cool rides. Most of us are “jailed “ in our homes and bored to tears , so your video’s are great way to distract us from this bullshit going on.Between the awesome hot rod’s and your over the top skills, it’s a much needed outlet for us shut-Ins ,,,,,THANKS ,,,,, ,, from Randy..Long Island NY. ,,, I Really don’t care what you record I’m watching !
,,
Thanks a lot John! I enjoy making them :)
Man, what a righteous ride you have there. Happy Motoring.
That is so cool a hot rodded not hotrodded ford pick up I like it
Thanks your buddy from the speed shop sent me over here I really enjoy your channel. That's a happy dog

U got yourself a great little truck there!!!
Thanks for your tour vid-very nice rides you have-looks like you have a few extra projects going on-keep your vids coming
Thanks Dude, will do!
THANKS !!! MAN U got A BUNCH OF HOT RODS !!! ENJOYED THE RIDE !
Thanks!
Man did you bring back some memories Brent, I remembering going to the Half Moon way back in the mid sixties, sitting in the back of my Dad's 59 Beetle. A hot dog, fries and pop was .36 cents.
I wish that was the case, coupe burgers, fries and some pops could fill the tank with gas on the A haha
Pretty cool truck, i think it's beautiful. I'd love to drive one just like it. Please don't change it
I don't plan on it other than if something is broken :)
The only way it could get any better is teaching the dog to drive. Great video, Thanks
Seriously, heated seats?
Not kidding?
Nice truck!
I love ur little truck.. its something i would do up and cruise around in here in Australia
Super cool little truck.🛠 happy motoring
Thanks 👍
that music at the end fits the truck very nice ,,,
haha Thanks Bill!
Que bueno loco....entraron en primavera y el hielo empieza a derretirse....muy linda esa pick up Ford.
jaja tan pronto como se calienta, saco los autos de verano :)
Awesome little ever day driver there....sounds like she runs g00d......
Just found your channel this week and love all the vehicles so much. There’s something so classy about the old trucks that really speaks to me. I want one so bad & hope to get one some day. I currently have a ‘65 stepside, but would like something from 1930-1947. Thanks for the inspiration.
Well didnt see that coming but glad i am able to see it drive cool truck .bro you got lil of everything up there iam from Texas !
Yeah man been collecting/building for a few years haha
Loved it! So simple. With the music and the scene I really thought you were going to fade to black and white or maybe cipia. Very cool!
Haha I thought of that when I was editing it :)
You mentioned those brackets on the side of the radiator that are broken away and I got to thinking about how so many older vehicles had "stay rods" going back to the firewall along with a lower triangle bracket down low on each side. That's probably something to look into since nobody would ever see them with the hood closed.
yeah I have in the past made my own rods to attach the grill to and may have to do that the next time I have to fix these.
Great little truck!!
It sure is!
I like the set up on the truck. Need to build another like this and video
Haha I have the one in the video no need to build another :)
@@HalfassKustoms oh. You have a series of videos on this truck?
@@punkinsgarageandpaint8299 haha not this one unfortunately but I do of my T pickup
Man, I love the look of your little truck! I'm almost ready to hang the fenders on my channeled '29 A hot rod shop truck. I love the little econo cruiser. I built a '40s style '31 A coupe on wide fives that I powered with a Mustang 2.3L and T5. It runs and drives great and I can get 22 mpg at 65 mph! Keep up the good work!
Thanks dude! not sure how the 22mph at 65 works but sounds neat haha
@@HalfassKustoms Oops, 22 mpg, my bad! Or 9.35 km/L if you prefer! 👍
@@QuickSpeedShop haha I'm a mpg kinda guy
I believe Pablo's gonna love the Fitty five!
Nice to see the dog got a ride
Yeah that's his favorite going for rides.
Nice! Them shakes and burgers always taste better in an old school.....
I also am a fan of your big old Buick flamer!
Started up good time to go for a little ride. Nice truck!
That thing is awesome! So simple, it’s cool. 👍Tony B
Has got to be the coolest daily driver around 😎👍
Thanks Dan!
I loved your pick up, my consumption dream
Great video! LOVE THIS TRUCK!
Wow, you have a great collection there, congrats!
