  • Just a video of my 1931 Ford Model A Roadster. it's got a 255 Mercury Flathead v8 with a I think 36 top loader 3 speed trans. I'm running 16" wires all around and with a banjo rear. The front is a speedway 4" drop axle with juice brakes all around. Modified F1 steering box and modified F1 pedals also. The car is running a stock model a frame with a spring behind in the rear to get the car down a little lower.

A cool roadster and a good dog makes for a fun country cruise. The supercharger plan sounds like a great project.

It’s beautiful, seriously, just beautiful. Imagine the looks I’d get driving around in that in my neighborhood on the weekends scrounging garage sales. Perfect.

Your right Its important to check all your fluids.. it's very important that you do so .so opening the fridge I found to my horror that all my fluids were extremely low .so it was a trip down to the supermarket .you can never be to careful

I love it. That is a cool build. Simple and lots of fun. Those front bones look to be zephyr. Don't see too many with the step in them. Love how to tear it up. Fun car.

Wow, memories of 14 years old with a ‘31 roadster on a back road in BC. That’s where it started, and there’s still nothing to beat what you’ve got right there. Thanks so much for sharing it.

My dad bought an all original 30 Model A Coupe in 1990 that ran and drove. He parked it in the climate controlled garage next to his 76 L-82 Singray, 78 Lincoln Mark V (or whatever) 460/4brl/C6/9 inch posi with rear disc brakes, triple black, sunroof, factory CB, an 81 Harley Davidson Wide Glide (bought new) and my stepmoms brand new 1988 S10 Blazer. The Blazer was the only daily driver. Dad drove a 68 Ford 4WD/360/4brl/granny low 4spd with a 6inch chassis, 3" body lift on 17/40 mudders....daily. I drove a 64 Chevy C10 that would be considered a rat rod today but I called it "unfinished" what was finished was on that truck was a strong 350/300HP heads shaved .020 ( off a 66 Chevelle) an Edelbrock Torquer, 650cfm Holley, 2:80 Magnum Comp Cam w/double roller chain, Hedman headers and Cherry bomb header mufflers. I was smoking Fox bodies and 3rd gens until the mid 90s (and owned an 82/TA, 87 Formula 350)
My point is; I begged Dad to drive this 30 Model A. It had been restored in the 50s and was red with black fenders. I also wanted to put the Lincoln 460/C6/9inch Posi in it with a blower!!! Here is what happened. The vette, the Harley, the Lincoln, the Model A sat in the dark until dad died in 2012. The Lincoln was sold for scrap. My kiss-ass cousin got the Harley and traded it to have his driveway repaved. The Blazer traded on a fucking minivan. The Vette traded for a damn lawnmower. Dad also had a Henry J gasser with a DZ/302 and a 78 3/4 Ford 460/C6 with tandem trailer he pulled it with.
My stepmom was nice but did not understand the value of these cars. My punk little half brother was a Starbucks barista and cant open the hood on his Hyundai. This is what sometimes happens to car collections and it is so fucking sad.
Glad to see an old Model A on the road!!!

This is terrific , If your desperate for hubcaps you can have mine then your only short 1 hubcap . I'll borrow a friend's comment about Brainard a few years ago , "this is gooder than good !"

That is one sweet incantation to a timeless classic. I had a career in paint and love the fact that your 31 has none ! it was relatively easy to cobble together a roadable ride from a pile of junk and your work is a testament to that. Super that you were able to find four wire wheels to compliment the appearance in just the right way. A Grand National blower on a flatty, now that's sumthin" .

Neato! I have a '30 coupe hi-boy with a lot of the same parts: '40 Chevy taillights ('39 Ford are so common); bored and stroked '47 Merc flattie w/top mount gen and fan; '39 trans; '36 rear w/ aft spring for drop; F1 steering and pedals; '36 banjo s/wheel (which is what you've got there); dropped 'A' front axle w/split bones; early Lincoln hydraulics etc. I'd love some '35 wires, but these are getting very hard to find these days, so I'm running '40 solids w/ caps and original ribbed beauty rings. She's a hell of a lot of fun..

As a kid in New Zealand in the early 60's I remember lots of A V8 roadsters were running around. There were lots of V8 engines left over from WW2 and model A's had been big sellers, add to this the sale of Hot Rod Mags in the news Agents and guys racing cars in Europe and the US in the late 40's who bought back parts and ideas all made NZ a little hot rod heaven ,
