Just ran across this video and am so glad I did! You did the best job explaining the building process out of at least 100 videos I have watched. Thank you!
I like the way you ended this video: "Hope this helped somebody." It sure helped me, I was about to spend way too much on something not as good. Thanks for sharing.
I can do this! May have to re-watch this video a dozen or so more times, and tweak the overall diminsions to accommodate bigger ladies, but they will appreciate a sturdy, safe, & comfy home!! Thanks for a practical, inexpensive solution to my first building project!!
I've made a couple of coops in the past, different styles and sizes. We just moved and decided to have chickens again. I watched many videos for inspiration. Because of the move money is tight, I saw your video and just completed building your coop. It cost me $30 and looks, and works great' Thanks for the great video' Regards Steve
Finally I found a video where you explain things perfectly and a plan simple enough that I believe I can make this coop!! And I have leftover siding from my mobile home so it will match my mobile so cute!! I was just going to use fence pickets be cheaper than plywood. I love it it's so simple!!
Hello outdoors with Tim here this one definitely helped me thank you for making this video I know which direction I'm going to go making my backyard chicken coop
Great Video. With the price of lumber these days I am going to use this plan and add wire mesh for bottom and sides for ventilation. I agree with many of the comments this being a best how to video.
Very nice job on the video. You were patient enough to cover every aspect for those of us less adapt at woodworking. Thank you and good luck with your chickens.
I've been looking for a coop design and yours is spot on, going to make it a bit bigger because of the hens I'm getting. Think I'm going to make one modification, that being a door about 2ft high across one of the bottoms for ease of use cleaning wise. Top video though.
Im doing my chicken coop out of exterior ply boards that I reclaimed from inside someones shed, they was stacked nicely in the corner and not being used so I borrowed them but they took some carrying as they are 18 mm 4x8 boards
I have just built one, similar size but with legs. It's better that the coop is off the ground especially in cold climates and they can use the space and also use it for shade in the summer. it houses 4 bantam chickens.
Excellent instructions and good idea. One tip: if you can find a pallet that has a solid top, you can use it for the base. Two questions: 1) I've always heard that chickens need ventilation or they get respiratory issues. So you might want to cover the window opening with heavy wire + hardware cloth instead. 2) Isn't it hard to clean this? Maybe the chicken door should be wide enough to get a garden rake in? Or you have a miniature garden rake you use?
@@mookie2000mhhs If you raise the roof with spacers, small predators could get in? Opened where? Aren't the only openings the roof and the chicken door? What do you use to clean it? Will a scoop shovel fit/work? Or a square-nosed shovel?
just got some pallets and waster wood in good conditon so I will be building my coop when the weather gets nice again. I want it to be four by four by four feet
Thank you for sharing your video I’m really thinking on getting two chickens and was wondering how to go about building a coop. Are you going to put ventilation for the air to go through so it won’t get to hot during the summer.
Backyard Fisherman mostly from Lowe's, call around to hardware and furniture stores and see who needs to get some out of their way. There is a link in the description of the pallet popper I use to take them apart.
sarah Verner this roof was exterior grade paint, which works but isn't the best. Shingles or metal is best, but with children running around I was worried about the sharp corners. I have a video of me making a pallet popper, I think that link is in the description.
Do you believe someone whose never worked a circular saw before or built wood anything, can build maybe even a simple coop than this? Lol that would be me!
Cheryl Pluto some woods from overseas are highly sought after. The pallets I use are single use disposal ones, it would be highly unlikely that they would have any treatment if they are only intended to be used once. Even if they were treated, they are coated in paint.
I need to know this I'm big into pallets, I have been subbed to you for quite a while and enjoying every moment. Have you been able to stop by mine yet ,if not and if you get a chance ,love to see u down under. Stay safe
jaeskes the thing about the roof being hinged is you can wedge it open for ventilation if need be. If a vented roof and a door won't suffice not sure what will.

You got this, it ain't hard unless you make it hard, show us your creation.

Love the video. Thank you for explaining it step by step. Not many videos out there go into details.

Thanks so much for taking the time to document this project! I plan to build a replica in a few weeks
Perfect. Thank you for sharing. Best easy coop I've ever seen.
Very precise detailed information. This is the plan I will use on my next coop. Best plans that I've seen so far.
Turned out really nice!

Thanks, glad you found it useful
Perfect. At last i found a super detailed video of making chicken coop. Easy to learn. Thanks bro.
Nice video. I've watch several and your right about store bought coops so I'm going to make mine. Thank you for the video its inspiring
Your voice is so relaxing 😊
That wood is beautiful just plain, you did a great job sir, thank you for the video, God bless you
Thanks for the video. Can't wait for the temperature to get above ten degrees to start cutting some boards.
This is perfect. Exactly what I'm making. Thank you
Appreciate the simple and thorough explanation.
Nice coop , should probably have some ventilation to help keep out moisture. I used a lot of your ideas to build mine , just added screen windows
I’ve made a coop with bits off my old shed, and this is great sir
You did an excellent job and you gave me some good ideas. Thank you!
Great instructions! I think I could make this one.
Thank you, nice simple, it does what it's meant to do, good use of recycled matterials, round dowels only improvement I could think of
best video man thanks a lot u made that as easy as it can get
wow this is bad ass coop im trying to make me one it's hard to fine pallets. thank you great job .
Very well done video/explanation. Thanks for the time it took to do it.

Be my first building a coop but going to try and make this my next project very soon.

Pretty awesome thank you I will try to build me one
Great video! Thanks for the info.
Great price on your chicken coop. I am going to build one just like it for my coop here on my backyard.
Thanks this really helped me out
Wonderful!
Just perfect👍
Hi there
Use things that you have and save money
Have a good day be safe god bless
Keep on growing 👍👍👍😉
I have just built one, similar size but with legs. It's better that the coop is off the ground especially in cold climates and they can use the space and also use it for shade in the summer. it houses 4 bantam chickens.
Hi. It,s a vert good work BRAVO!
Excellent instructions and good idea. One tip: if you can find a pallet that has a solid top, you can use it for the base. The entire roof is hinged, so spacers can be inserted to create as much ventilation as needed, and it can be opened fully for cleaning.
@@mookie2000mhhs If you raise the roof with spacers, small predators could get in?
Opened where? Aren't the only openings the roof and the chicken door? What do you use to clean it? Will a scoop shovel fit/work? Or a square-nosed shovel?
Very good vid.
How hard is it to clean out the coop? Do you rake it through the chicken door?
Great video. Thanks so much for sharing.would the same design suit ducks ?
just got some pallets and waster wood in good conditon so I will be building my coop when the weather gets nice again. I want it to be four by four by four feet
$550 for the co-op at Coastal feed. Yours looks just as good.
watched your video.. Great:-) would be a great brooder, or bantam house..
Ventilation keeps chickens healthier
Thank you for sharing your video I’m really thinking on getting two chickens and was wondering how to go about building a coop.
Are you going to put ventilation for the air to go through so it won’t get to hot during the summer.
All you have to do is put a spacer under the hinged roof to create a gap and ventilation.
If u put 4x6s down the edges they would act as skids if u ever want to move it, a little bigger for expansion later
You need more air flow, love your coop!
What is the dimention and size your projecek please write to me.
Very easy nice to work.
Great video thanks!
Make sure u check lead in the paint u can still buy lead paint in places
Where did you get the pallets? How did you pull them apart?
Backyard Fisherman mostly from Lowe's, call around to hardware and furniture stores and see who needs to get some out of their way. There is a link in the description of the pallet popper I use to take them apart.
How many pellets did you end up using for the chicken coop?
I don't remember
What did you use on the roof that was weather safe or is it ok to just use whatever as long as it's weather safe?
Also what did you say you used for taking the pallets apart? I must've missed it
sarah Verner this roof was exterior grade paint, which works but isn't the best. Shingles or metal is best, but with children running around I was worried about the sharp corners. I have a video of me making a pallet popper, I think that link is in the description.
What did you use to attach the batten boards?
Ben Walter i just used the same crown stapler.
Joe How many Chickens can possible fit?
D.I.R the amount of chickens depends on the breed size.
I'm planning on bufforpingtons and I would like to get 2
D.I.R I'd say that exact size coop would be good for 3-4 buff's.
Do you have the exact measurements for this coop
Jaydon Ballman 38x42 floor and 34 tall
Do you believe someone whose never worked a circular saw before or built wood anything, can build maybe even a simple coop than this? Lol that would be me!
how many chicken can live in this coop?
Aly Ibrahim depends on the breed.
hinge upside down....pin might fallout.
why aren't they out playin
Pallets are made of wood from overseas and can contain toxic chemicals. I wouldn't use it near any food source.
Cheryl Pluto some woods from overseas are highly sought after. The pallets I use are single use disposal ones, it would be highly unlikely that they would have any treatment if they are only intended to be used once. Even if they were treated, they are coated in paint.
How many palates did you use?
I need to know this I'm big into pallets, I have been subbed to you for quite a while and enjoying every moment. Have you been able to stop by mine yet ,if not and if you get a chance ,love to see u down under.
Stay safe
Not enough ventilation
how much
J C what do you mean?
It's good except you always want round dowels inside... it's better for their feet.
Edward Smith I have to disagree unless you can cite a study that favors your opinion.
It's easier to "cheat" and finish a project than sit unfinished...
Hinge isnt on right
That would be correct if it was on a standard door, but in a chicken coop anything that allows the door to open and shut is correct.
Do people just raise chicken for a hobby or is it for money?
Darn trash pandas 😤😅
too many roosters and too little ventilation!
jaeskes the thing about the roof being hinged is you can wedge it open for ventilation if need be. If a vented roof and a door won't suffice not sure what will.
