This game's art style and aesthetic is RIGHT DOWN MY ALLEY. The characters designs are amazing, even the NPCs are so cool looking. I love the tiny town so much you have no idea. I agree that the story started slow but the characters made it enjoyable.
Thank you for pointing out the detail with the unique art style for the vhs tapes. I love seeing a variety of art styles both in general but also within the universe. I love the aesthetic of this game. I completely agree with your opinion of wanting to just spend more time as our pulled characters and the world/game feeling a bit limiting/claustrophobic. I hope they eventually change that
For new players or people who are new to ZZZ in general the animation is the best any hoyoverse game the squash and stretch on all the characters is incredible especially Billy if you like HiFi Rush's animation you'll love this 😊
ZZZ can be said to be a game that is quite easy to get used to when first exposed, especially its fighting mechanism, but in comparison, it's like the "street" version of Honkai Impact :)
I was blessed with Lycaon as my first S-rank from standard. Also I've got Ellen as first from limited banner. And now I'm two Nekomata's later and waiting for 1.1 and 1.2 for new boys. I hope this game will be at least the same or more entertaining. Also I wish that I'll have more time for commissions and know how to build my characters XD Also I'm happy that you like this game, because a lot of ytbers I watch don't like gameplay but they only played it like 1-3hours. I really love puzzles and how gameplay is relaxing most of time
I really love the vibe of the game. I can just have the character screen out and listen to the lofi music while I work. I know a lot of ppl don’t like the TV system. It’s a mixed bag for me. I love the idea and performance but I wish they speed up some animation so it won’t feel lagged. But I think once you get to the abyss you won’t be doing this a lot anyway….? Ppl said they don’t get to enjoy combat this way but they can easily customize their own battle arena. And that unlocks super early in game. I used 3 of lv20 characters with a lv 50 boss and spent 30 minutes fighting and practiced a LOT of perfect assist lol
At first, I felt a bit bored, but later on, I started to fall in love with this game. Especially after lv. 31, you can chat with your favorite characters to increase your favorability, and the 3rd chapter story is also very attractive❤
13:30 If I were to change the way the fast travel is set up I would design it as a brochure of the city or an amusement park map with big symbols showing off each place you can travel to. I think that would be much better and more pleasing to look at and make it easier to traverse as you wouldn't have to scroll over to your next area and you can just click what area you want to go to.
I loved the review. I would love to see more videos in this style. I think you have a really nice and down to earth style when talking about things you enjoy.
my personal thoughts on zzz condensed -Game is a lot of fun -Character designs are really good so far -Plenty to do -Story is great and has a very fun way to watch it unfold -TV section is genuinely fun and I hope for more -Bangboos are so gosh darn adorable i love them -My one negative is that you can't halt the main quest. I have had quite a few times where I wanted to do side quests but I couldn't because Main quest wouldn't let me. its like its forced. -Hopes for the future is that we get some longer combat when we do get to combat, not in the "this enemy has 3 billion HP" but more waves of enemies. ideally, as a challenge area, you would start with small combats then the longer you go, the more enemies come in and the bigger they get? -More fun and adorable Bangboo's -A more complete roster *cough cough physical shouldnt be just dps cough cough* lastly -Team builder like in Genshin and Star rail. Somewhat annoying having no party set up or team builder for preset options that are easy to swap -a character viewer like Enka
Yeah I tried to swap the quests but it wouldn't let me. I feel like if it's going to tell you that you're entering story mode, that it should tell you when you're out of it too
Its the coolest and best balanced gacha-game out there in aspects off grinding diffeculty! NO annoying open-world, a cute cozy city with lots to explore and a lot of cute little stories, supercool satisfying fights, lovely but also crazy characters, all the features and things you can do are so cool. Also all these puzzles in the caves - a wonderfull new and innovative way in the gacha-world! Next to Wuthering Waves its the best and most entertaining ga-ga "for me". And who dont want to own and manage a vhs-rentalstore ;-) Played to level 30 in three days because I couldnt stop. Just bought the battlepass but got already so much luck getting grace, soukaku 4x, soldier 11, lucy 3x, piper 3x, Ellen, etc. - And DUDE...parries are soooo satisfying!
Great Summary of the Game Jon, Very detailed and u highlight all the things u like as well the amazing work ZZZ devs did well. Looking forward to more such videos.
Of all the takes on ZZZ, I have never heard the game feeling claustrophobic. But I completely agree. I absolutely love the game and I have full confidence you will to as you progress, but the restrictiveness and the lack for teasing of future feature, does bring the game down.
Great video! Couldn’t agree more that I want to be able to walk around with the characters I pull. I love that about Genshin and HSR. It’s what made me stick with hoyo games at first because it really felt like I got to enjoy the new character
It actually have more background music than you think if you go to your own room. The HiFi system you can toggle all the music in the game. (The music amount is base on how far your storyline progression/ maps unlock)
You know what is soo satisfying in zzz hitting perfect dodges but even more with perfect assists 🤩🤩and yes I agree with saying the music are bops, I love this game and it started when I watched you streams playing it before it officially came out😁also I love Billy Kid (ps you can stay as your current character when it shows the swap you can just let the time run out then you will stay as the same character you’re playing)
The music and the art direction is the best thing in the game by far, its a refreshing and new touch, the characters are alive and very unique, also the factions are a nice detail. In a personal note, I love the fact that the game is not open world and the maps are quite small, i'm already bored of huge open worlds. that makes it not as time demanding as other gacha games.
Spot on! The story is really refreshing as it gives you a more nuanced worldbuilding by starting small. But WE know it’s larger than it appears to be especially when we meet one of the bosses in the game. For me, I somewhat agree with the characters usable in the city but I’d integrate it in the Story Modes instead. I actually like the immersive nature of me being Phaethon and having to talk to the Agents in Sixth Street, Lumina Square, etc. Having it differ to Genshin and HSR makes it very distinguishable for me. Anyway, nice review! Do play the game more so that Lycaon will visit you in your pulls 😂
With ZZZ I felt that the story puts characters in the spotlight and the lore comes between the lines which makes so much more natural. I agree that the start wasn`t the most exciting, but I was surprised by how much more I was attached to the Cunning Hares compared to the Favonius Knights or the Express crew given the same time played.
My thoughts are about the same as yours. One thing that I’d also like to see is team load outs; basically building different teams that you can switch between. I’m far into chapter 2 and I’m still enjoying the story! P.S. Rena is my first 5 star and she gives me Lisa vibes. 😮
This game has been receiving so much hate and it’s so nice to hear someone appreciate all the details and artistic intention behind the game. This really puts words to how I feel :)
WHY IS THE RATIO FROM WOMEN TO MEN SO UNBALENCED??? seriously, I'm sobbing. There's like 13 or 14 girls to play and there's only 4 guys to play. I KNOW THIS IS A ANIME GACHA GAME but SERIOUSLY???
Ah, Tell me about... Sadly, this is how it is, because they prioritize players who wants waifu's more than the male characters enjoyers. It useless to tell them in the survey everytime, because I've been doing it for a year in Genshin, but they never listen. 😮💨
That is ridiculous and probably one of the reasons why this game didn't get my interest, now that I think about it. 🤔 There isn't any character that I am interested in (you can guess I would prefer a male character.) Btw male to female ratios in other games: HSR 18 male, 33 female Genshin 30 male, 53 female WuWa 7 male, 13 female
You’re probably not going to see this, but if you do, I highly recommend playing astral chain. While playing ZZZ it’s literally all I could think of bc the general gameplay and vibes are just so similar, down to the giant furry mascot for the police department, to the fighting otherworldly monsters with your sibling. Also the hub music slaps. Okay, that’s all, thank you. Love your vids!!❤
Based on his analysis, not gonna lie, i thought he would choose Belle because she looks honestly good and cute. But i’m so glad Wise is getting some love too, it’s a wise decision after all-
AYOOOOOOO! totally completely absolutely 100% accurate and same thoughts on ZZZ. Just hope that ppl can appreciate more on the tiny details that the team has put efforts into!
I really wanna try it cos it looks so freaking gooood. The bouncy animation is so awesome to me even though I'm not into scifi, and the combat looks so fun. Problem is there's really not much of an open world from what I've seen in reviews. ):
I had no hype or anything going into this game. I randomly saw a friend discord stream it, and decided to play it, myself. The story and presentation is vastly superior to other Gacha, so if you are looking for that, it has so much character, spirit, charm, and vision for what it wants to accomplish. The characters are full of depth, and the game world, although not open world, is packed to the brim with detail to compensate. The game doesn't feel like a chore, rather, you want to learn more and do more because it's so fun. It's really got a PERSONA vibe to it, where you have the social side to things, and the action/fighting side to things. Both are really fleshed out. The fighting is amazing, it feels like some kind of fighting game, like I am playing Marvel vs. Capcom III or something with the dodges, perfect dodges, assists, counters, parries, combos, ultimates, and you name it. It feels fantastic to master with a depth to learn. They improved a lot. There's a lot of different modes to try and I don't feel "gated" in progression too much. Characters all feel rewarding to play. In short, although it's a Gacha, I feel respected for my time and as a player for now.
Does anyone else find it weird when you say you like zzz and how it plays, then a person that play wuthering waves have to respond to you to tell you how much they like wuthering waves over ZZZ. I'm the only person that finds it weird that they feel the need to respond and tell you everything they prefer in wuwa over zzz?
I really like what i have played so far! the art style is amazing, the characters and their development are really well thought out. Billy is also my favorite character right now. I feel its really close to how the persona series plays(not the combat of course). If they continue this kind of game play I would love to see something like social links between all the characters. they invite you out to do stuff they like, they hit you up on the weekends to, get to know them better and what's going on in their life. this is set up perfect for something like that and I hope they go in that direction.
This game has A LOT of personality compared to other Hoyo games. The art style is way different, the music, the mood, the character interactions. It's amazing and I love it! I just wish they would make more male characters. And that they'd not be cowards and give us full-on furry female characters too, not that half-human, half-animal waifus.
Zzz is a great game, that keep getting better and better as you level up and unlock new stuff. The problem is that the game start a little slow, and having 4 different gameplays (tv, fight, story, city exploring), it can push some people away before they can check the new stuff. Tv isnt nearly as bad as i imagined. Now i kinda like it, they add something fresh to the game, not only hack and slash. But of course, if puzzles arent your thing, you wont like it so much. Cuty exploration is a little clunky to get it, but after a while, everything becomes easy to understand. The reason is that they made new design choices for something we are so used with genshin and star rail being very close, that we need time to figure it out the links, menus and places. A big overworld map with all locations and the hollows in it would be great to immersion. Story is great. Sure, unlike genshin that makes you to jump in right on the first 5 minutes on the journey, zzz is more episodic and have way more focus on the characters. You will love the sibiling way before know what is their main purpose. Same with the combat characters. Thats great and a breath of freshnair when compared to the usual "chosen one to save the whole world" games we had before. The game has an overarch story but is not the most relevant at least until now. Combat is a slow burn. The enemies are too weak innthe beginning, even on challenge mode, so we dont really feel the need to understand the stuff behind it. But after they unlock the endgame, the combat become awesome. The parry need to be fast, the animations are great, the rush of adrenaline fighting a boss, and the perfect sound effects, is just what i needed. The fact the game has NO HEALERS makes every hit count a lot. Im still need to try more chars, but im lovin Corin saw attacks. The sound, the animation and the vibrating reception on my controller, gives me a perfect experience. Overall it wont be a game for everyone, and with the recent drama seeking meta for ccs, it was expected to people to be very aggressive against the game. But the reception outside of social media, and the initial revenue shows that this whole thing is just overreacting.
A little qol thing zzz has that I fucken love and appreciate is the skip button, me and my partner usually play similar games, so I'd already seen most of the early game already, and being able to press skip and quickly catch up was so very nice
@@alvinlee7710 i humbly disagree. They already separate tv mechanics and combats mechanics in different category (exploration and combat). The tv mechanics also helps the story and the hollow zero to explore a deeper story within them as they have more variety compared to the combats (bombs, debts, etc). They are also generally require a bit more strategy to clear and that's actually is quite fun to do. I think the main problem is the integration between the combat and the tv mechanics itself. Since the combat can appear easily during tv mechanics gameplay (if we stumble upon the ethereals) the flow of the gameplay can feel disrupted. They probably should find more ways to avoid having to constantly changing between tv mechanics and the gameplay too many times (although i think chapter 2 and 3 have better integration in the gameplay). Most importantly i think they need to add more variety in combat gameplay. Like many combat in later commission is so much more engaging than the earlier one with many different objectives they need to do to properly clear the combat. However the combat in story and hollow zero still feels lacking in a way compare to other commissions. They should really expand and allow combat gameplay to explore more especially since the hollow itself seems very exciting to explore. I think the best way they can do is to add on more combat exploration for some specific goals and reduce the tv mechanic's dependence to achieve the goals. Like some of the tv mechanics goal is so much more fun to do for combats than the tv mechanics section. And they could probably add varieties on the combat categories since i think having the players to search for coins or some goals to complete the combat section makes it much more fun to explore then just to get clearance goal just based on the clearance time.
I have also played ZZZ before it’s a great game I have the same opinions as you (almost) but something I disliked idk if it was for all of you but when I got it and downloaded it there was something on the right of my screen that said blah blah blah update to non beta version… I did because who wants the beta version and it about 6 hours but it was worth it the art is amazing!
True the game should've went with a wow factor or mysterious approach during the introduction like Persona 3's dark hour reveal which would've gotten people more interested in the story
I really really hope they keep the tvs and just move it or something cuz I really really prefer the tv system and do not find the outpost stuff as fun. I think its because it feels relaxing for me versus having to be so intensely engaged the entire time when in like open world or on a map. I’m disabled so I’m biased in this way

ZZZ is my favorite Myhoyo game. More grounded and casual story and likeable characters is more refreshing for me than another story about god-being hero, who need save the world. ZZZ is more like Durarara and Persona vibes, when we more focus on casual things and grounded things. And i really like it
I lost my first 50 50 to Nekomata as well, thought it was like 14 pulls in so I can't even be mad, plus as I tried her more and more I have to say I really enjoy her swift play style among all the other 5 stars.
this actually took me out a bit off of genshin. maybe because i have already 100% the maps and i have well built characters just waiting for the next patch. But ZZZ took me in, as a working class, like genshin, the casualness of this game is something I can squeeze in with my schedule without demanding too much
I think it was mina that called out hoyo for just wanting to make an anime - and like zzz makes me wish they'd do a slice of life thing to just watch and I love that zzz has a video archive to review the cut scenes so I can rewatch the fun plot points lol I wish their other games has that sort of CG review

Also I wish that I'll have more time for commissions and know how to build my characters XD
Also I'm happy that you like this game, because a lot of ytbers I watch don't like gameplay but they only played it like 1-3hours.
0:13 dayum nice tectone reference
13:30 If I were to change the way the fast travel is set up I would design it as a brochure of the city or an amusement park map with big symbols showing off each place you can travel to. I think that would be much better and more pleasing to look at and make it easier to traverse as you wouldn't have to scroll over to your next area and you can just click what area you want to go to.
I loved the review. I would love to see more videos in this style. I think you have a really nice and down to earth style when talking about things you enjoy.
my personal thoughts on zzz condensed
-Game is a lot of fun
-Character designs are really good so far
-Plenty to do
-Story is great and has a very fun way to watch it unfold
-TV section is genuinely fun and I hope for more
-Bangboos are so gosh darn adorable i love them
-My one negative is that you can't halt the main quest.
-More fun and adorable Bangboo's
-A more complete roster *cough cough physical shouldnt be just dps cough cough*
lastly
-Team builder like in Genshin and Star rail. Somewhat annoying having no party set up or team builder for preset options that are easy to swap
-a character viewer like Enka
There's a menu whete you can swap quests. Unless you're in hyperfocus mode which some parts of the main chapter have.
Yeah I tried to swap the quests but it wouldn't let me. I feel like if it's going to tell you that you're entering story mode, that it should tell you when you're out of it too
@@darkworld0167 yeah, that's true, i was kinda confused at first too
I got her twice, her weapon AND koleda before Von. Hang in there Jon, I believe
I love Soloing with just Billy, He has my favorite Play style in the game.
God I miss the video rental stores 😭This game gives me flashbacks to my childhood, the vibe is so nice
Love this man’s content, even better at night lol
your commentary was really cool and well thought-out, i really liked this style video!
It’s what made me stick with hoyo games at first because it really felt like I got to enjoy the new character
totally agree with your comments jon!! i rly love their storytelling style, wasn't expecting myself to get so hooked :>
It actually have more background music than you think if you go to your own room. The HiFi system you can toggle all the music in the game. (The music amount is base on how far your storyline progression/ maps unlock)
A lot of battle theme in zzz is crazy good, like endless construction day - day, chaos gamma is epic too
ZZZ is puzzle heavy.
And i feel like the main character isn't Belle or Wise, but our special Eous.
Eous is the main protagonist XD
I also enjoy the puzzles to an extent. The conveyor belt one took me like 20 minutes.
What I like the most.. Fairy's sassy sense of humor it's just peak 🔥🗿
I just love it because of the art style and different pacing, and the battles never get boring either.
I just downloaded the game and I'm super excited to play it! I love your content, Jon! ❤
Go jonathon i love your content
My thoughts are about the same as yours. One thing that I’d also like to see is team load outs; basically building different teams that you can switch between. I’m far into chapter 2 and I’m still enjoying the story!
P.S. Rena is my first 5 star and she gives me Lisa vibes. 😮
Thumbnail : frown
Start of video : ZENLESS ZONE ZEROOOOOO
I bet my life savings that you two never heard of Honkai Impact 3rd.
@@kergmund5868 nah, I heard about it, but never played it cuz there's no single playable male characters. It looks funny to me. :^)
That is ridiculous and probably one of the reasons why this game didn't get my interest, now that I think about it. 🤔 There isn't any character that I am interested in (you can guess I would prefer a male character.)
Btw male to female ratios in other games:
HSR 18 male, 33 female
Genshin 30 male, 53 female
WuWa 7 male, 13 female
don't know what you two talking about. women just sells better 🥵
This game just scratches an itch - its so refreshing, honestly hoyo nailed it!
love you always jonathon u quickly became one of my fave content creators
You’re probably not going to see this, but if you do, I highly recommend playing astral chain. While playing ZZZ it’s literally all I could think of bc the general gameplay and vibes are just so similar, down to the giant furry mascot for the police department, to the fighting otherworldly monsters with your sibling. Also the hub music slaps. Okay, that’s all, thank you. Love your vids!!❤
Based on his analysis, not gonna lie, i thought he would choose Belle because she looks honestly good and cute. But i’m so glad Wise is getting some love too, it’s a wise decision after all-
I like this video!! It is definitely cool to hear what you think of the game.
AYOOOOOOO! totally completely absolutely 100% accurate and same thoughts on ZZZ. Just hope that ppl can appreciate more on the tiny details that the team has put efforts into!
Jon screaming makes my day alwaysss
I had no expectations for my first 5 Star, frankly didn’t care. But I got Lycaon and gotta say, he’s pretty good when combined with Corrin
I love this game man , Billy kid is my favorite along with the two siblings
The TVs really need to be replaced by some kind of 3D VR type thing where you run around with your chosen sibling.
I loved seeing this kind of video from you!! 🥳🥳🥳 I haven’t played ZZZ yet but your first impression comments make me want to 🤩
This game has A LOT of personality compared to other Hoyo games. The art style is way different, the music, the mood, the character interactions. It's amazing and I love it!
I just wish they would make more male characters. And that they'd not be cowards and give us full-on furry female characters too, not that half-human, half-animal waifus.
I Tried zenless zero and the story is really good tbh
Adding vocal to music when you got the S rank makes me hype to the max
Thejonathon always makes good content. This is what made me play genshin
Oohh..when you talk about it i suddenly remember Persona 2 remake
Thats why this game system feel so familiar for me
I'm definitely going to watch every second of the stream, since almost everyone skips the story and want to see their reaction to the story
A little qol thing zzz has that I fucken love and appreciate is the skip button, me and my partner usually play similar games, so I'd already seen most of the early game already, and being able to press skip and quickly catch up was so very nice
Hope to see you make a video about Shiyu Defense (Spiral Abyss for ZZZ)
“did u call me?meow~”
"nope"
😂
Zzz kicks ass, my favourite hoyo game since HI3
Dont remove the tv gameplayy that feature is really unique and so much fun honestly
Yes!
I agree, I have never seen anything like that in a gacha game
Yes i agree, although it would be nice only if they implement it on hollow zero. For some reason the tv mechanics feels like only for hollow zero
If TV gameplay was a standalone game, would you play it?
I wouldn't. "Uniqe" is not always "good" or "fun".
I think imma gonna play the game
if they could implement "RALLY" commision style into some part of the story later on.. it would made the TV's became more bearable...
True the game should've went with a wow factor or mysterious approach during the introduction like Persona 3's dark hour reveal which would've gotten people more interested in the story
My guy I agree with your takes also the first moment I got to the city walk around I got persona 5 royal vibes very much persona coded
I really really hope they keep the tvs and just move it or something cuz I really really prefer the tv system and do not find the outpost stuff as fun. I think its because it feels relaxing for me versus having to be so intensely engaged the entire time when in like open world or on a map. I’m disabled so I’m biased in this way
I like the story too, even if there's the skip option I never felt the urge to skip any part
YESSS JON MAKING ZZZ CONTENT 🥰🥰😍😍
EU AMEI!
TBh, I didn't think it at all that you've said.
I was just there to play and see all they're personalitiddies
Tbh I feel the same way about changing it a bit similar to how genshin is, being free to roam around and stuff
Not the twerk at the end dude. caught me off guard 😭
for a non open world game, i prefered solo leveling better. But in general i tend to lean towards open world games
the story is fr good, peak worldbuilding
this actually took me out a bit off of genshin. maybe because i have already 100% the maps and i have well built characters just waiting for the next patch. But ZZZ took me in, as a working class, like genshin, the casualness of this game is something I can squeeze in with my schedule without demanding too much
the developers know what we want in the characters
I think it was mina that called out hoyo for just wanting to make an anime - and like zzz makes me wish they'd do a slice of life thing to just watch and I love that zzz has a video archive to review the cut scenes so I can rewatch the fun plot points lol I wish their other games has that sort of CG review
Dude my arm bashed my whole table and screen the moment I saw john twerking because of how sudden the action was. Also btw try beating raiden using scara alone it gives me the funny feeling of a parent vs child fight. (I did it c0 and no signature weapon (I use widsth refinement 3 lv 90) so you can do it!
