I love Clare Fischer's work. Many times there would be a song I would hear and think "man those chords and orchestration are amazing". Then later on I would find out it was him. His work on Robert Palmer's version of "You're My Thrill" kept me up for weeks. And your composition sounded great. I really dig those changes.
Maybe this isn't a helpful way of looking at it, but personally, I see those first three chords all as being different levels of tension over the V7 (G7). You can look at the E minor over F minor as a structure from G mix. b2, then G13 as a less tense colour taken from plain G mix., before upping the tension again with a structure taken from (maybe) G super loc. I doubt he thought of it that way though. Like you said, he wrote this with the movement of each voice in mind.
Your information is very interesting and I'm relatively new to CF. However, don't take this the wrong way but I find the comical interjections to be very distracting and not conducive towards learning.
@@Keith_Horn I am only mentioning it because your videos have great potential and I have become hooked on CF. If I didn't rate your ability I would not have bothered to leave a comment.
@@monsterjazzlicks I appreciate that. Thank you. There is something addictive about his music. Do you have a favorite album of his? I love "The Latin Side" and "A Family Affair". "Pacific Jazz" is also excellent.
Studied arranging with Clare through the Dick Grove CAP program back in 1982. Amazing musician.
What a great privilege!
Love your channel Keith, great work! At 1.51 you have transcribed E 's in octaves where the lower note needs to be a C making the C 10 sound.
Thanks! Yep - you're right - good catch.
Wow....this is fantastic stuff! Gonna need to watch (and practice) this 10 times till I understands what's happening here. Love Fischer!
Thanks! He's so brilliant.
Care Fisher you say; will take a look, many thanks. The snippet you played of 'Dude...' sounded really good. I wonder what the rest of it was like?
Thanks! Here's the whole song on Spotify if you'd like to hear it open.spotify.com/track/0nxz9lPYknXfo8v0jg4faq?si=b3b788ee65b94ece

Right? His arrangements are second to none and his original work is on another level.
Love your Chord of the Week videos. How is the second chord a G13 if there's no F? Looks more like a G69 to me.
Thanks for watching! That's my mistake - I'm playing the F but I notated an E. It should read (from the bottom) G-F-A-B-E-G. Thanks for catching that!
Thanks a lot!
Thnak you for watching!
Genial
Gracias!
Great video, and I love that deep cut of Superman III :)
Thanks! Glad you caught that.
6:28 Some of those mistakes sounded good those. Especially at 6:07. Very different vibe even though it's just one note difference.
Thanks! As I'm not a jazz pianist, this one pushes my abilities a bit.

That's a nice way of looking at it. The first chord is almost the whole Gmix b2 scale!
Awesome vid!
Thank you! CF is amazing!
yeah man! it's a phenomenal composition FILLED with incredible harmony. I own both the lead sheet and the big band chart as recorded by the metropole!
It's a masterpiece, for sure. I realized the other day that the B7/C10 is very similar to the famous Rite of Spring chord Eb7/E major
I can’t find this version of the song anywhere.
It's from the album "Tjaderama".
Thank you!!!
Ermeto Pascual definetely borrowed a few harmonic concepts from Claire
You're probably right about that. Hermeto is amazing!

That's not the first time I've heard that this week. Thanks for the feedback!
