My Grandmother lived in Sun City AZ. Everyday the quail would march around her house. I loved her so much.. Thanks, for bringing back good memories. Luv ya, love your channel
Is there another hi top company you can talk to before making your decision? It doesn’t sound like you got all the info you need to make a final decision.
For the clam...I have seen folks make it through the whole season with them. However, they had to rachet strap each side down in the ground. I guess the wind likes to pop the walls in.
I bought a 6x10 cargo trailer from Outlaw Cargo Trailers in Douglas GA. Had it insulated, 3 windows, rear stabilizer jacks, 3500 pound straight axle. Lots of other options available. Only thing I would have added was front stabilizer jacks and extended tounge. I got it for around 4700.00. Made so much better than a factory built camper.
We had a travel trailer years ago. Lots in it that we didn’t need. And we didn’t like the layout all that much. This time we have a 6x10x6’3” high inside cargo trailer. Single axle, no electric brakes. Very simple. Total cost for it and very minimalist buildout 4 years ago was under $3,000. We just went through Hurricane Milton and not one drop of water inside. We wouldn’t do anything but a cargo trailer conversion, even though we might be slightly limited as to where we can go. And we pull it with a 2017 Honda Pilot AWD.
Hey you Robert from O24 I was your camp host during the meetup. Headed down that way got the road bug again made a slight detour to Texas first hope to see G and Co.
Do nothing is often the best decision re) roof..when you hit 75 consider it,just my 2 cents witch is actually worth a half cent..put some spikes in your slides and hike up go gold panning. 😀 Become one with your environment..thats what i do..kinda..gor mevtaking pics id great..then if i like the joint i stayb meet ppl, ask local s only they know, i identity trees, shrubs, flowers..rocks..in the desert i guess ya gotta take off all the plurals i just wrote..tree flower..:)

A couple of years ago, I saw a Bob Wells video about his high top conversion. At first he liked it, and after a while he didn't and eventually he bought his ambulance. I'm thinking you could find it in his past videos. Just found your channel last week. Looking forward to watching it.
Monday 10/28/2024. Watch the weather! In Tonopah, we started the morning with clear skies predicted, but now we've got wind and rain predicted for tonight.
I feel the same way you do about Fiberine. Honestly I feel like you'd need to add a couple to few thousand on what they quote. By the time it gets done add time in a hotel, gas to get there, and the 'unfinished' product. It just felt like I would be better off saving my money towards another vehicle.
Electric brake controllers have come a long way. There is now one that goes on the trailer and senses when you apply the brakes in your vehicle and applies the trailer brake via Bluetooth i believe.
I have messaged you a few times Matty about my 2023 7×16 Cargo trailer in Quartzite for sale, however, I understand, you must not be interested any longer
You did good giving that power station to her! As for the trailer, brakes probably wouldn’t be necessary if it was just a 6x10 or 6x12 since your van brakes are really heavy duty. I would recommend it if you travel a lot in mountainous areas though. What I would like about a trailer is it keeps your camping spot and all the stuff that interferes with driving would no longer be needed in the van. However, I really like your high top idea. Always wanted one. So I’m no help, ha ha. Take care!
That is so cool how you found her right away and that you were able to give her those things! The more I travel and meet people the more God/ the universe “just happens” to either help me when I need it or help others. Excited to be in Quartzsite soon! My camping buddy is finding us a place today. I’ll be there tomorrow. We had to wait until it got cooler because yikes.
I just got a 5X8 cargo trailer, they are around 950 lbs so, you really don't need brakes, I put solar panels and an awning on mine and a 39X76 inch bed with under bed storage and carpet on the floor and it has a side door, and I put in a window, I tow with a jeep compass with a roof top tent. I try to keep it small; I had a class A and then a ford transit, high roof and extended, still too big. So, the compass and small trailer is just right.
Matty across from either the Roadrunner or Coyote there is a private residence with a bakery attached that sell different breads and killer pastries, somewhat reasonable, run by a nice family, sometime the little kid waits on you the best he can , kinda cute. Not always open they tend to run out because they are getting popular but worth giving them some love rather than the more pricy places!
If you get any trailer get twin axels. In case of a flat and crash. Trailer is PITA. Generally pretty cheaply made. Do the high top the hillbilly way. Cut a three foot hole and blue gue an No. 3 washtub on it. There you go, you can stand up. That would ring the bell. All good. Who builds ambulance high tops.
I don't know if it would work for you, but you might consider hydraulic trailer brakes. Those don't require any connection to the Towing vehicle other than the hitch. When you hit your brakes in your vehicle a hydraulic cylinder compresses as the trailer moves forward against your vehicle and applies the brakes to the trailer. Something to consider you might Google it
Hi M, Ask to speak to the owner of Fiberine. The person answering the phone is just some high school kid. He probably doesn’t even know she is not versed in customer service. The owner does all the fiberglass work, he doesn’t answer the phone or emails. He would never give you the brush-off. Don’t give up on the high top just because of someone’s lazy kid. Talk to the owner. -J
PS They do it in about 6 hours, then it’s done, waterproof, and gorgeous, and the inside is beautiful, they put a white gel-coat on the inside. Even Bob Wells recommends them. They usually have an after thanks giving sale.
Matty I agree that if you are having a bad feeling about the hightop then put it on hold. My Dad always told me to go with your gut if it don’t feel right it probably isn’t
After having a van, a pick up and camper, and even a cargo van, I went with a cargo trailer. Picked it up cheap. Tandem axle with brakes on both. It’s not fancy inside, but it’s home. Because I am in cold weather. I have three forms of heat. And when I get to the warm, I have a 12 V mini split. 600 W of solar. 510 amp hours of batteries. Knock on wood. Everything is running fine.
It's clear=God wanted Laurie to have the bluetti. Good for you, you did God's work! As for the trailer, get one with two axles. It will be very stable and have sufficient braking power. It will track better also. Stay safe and God Bless!
My Grandmother lived in Sun City AZ. Everyday the quail would march around her house. I loved her so much.. Thanks, for bringing back good memories. Luv ya, love your channel
So glad Lori got the power station.Love your tent looks like a good one.
I hear that quail is delicious 😂
Karma - so important! Happy for Lorrie! That was so nice of you Matty- Thanks for being such a kind person 😇
Dan Quail 😂😂😂
What are the odds of Lorry being there!?
Are there not other companys doing high tops?
Thinking of stopping there on the way to Baja this winter and was wondering if ppl in vans have to be w/in 500 yards of the bathrooms?
Thanks Dave
Thank-you for gifting the power station to Lorri ❤
Is there another hi top company you can talk to before making your decision? It doesn’t sound like you got all the info you need to make a final decision.
That’s a great looking tent.
Enjoyed, Swap vans with Hobo Jo😊
I woke up around 5am too and layed the solar panels down flat. That wind kept waking me up
Yo! Where you let's hang soon 👍
@Matty Van Halen - Hey Matty how many watts / volts are you getting out in The Q?? Will be heading there for the winter.😊
Hi Zora! Batteries are staying topped off with all the sun here so I really can't gauge it. Give me a shout when you arrive 👍
@MattyVanHalen I'll give U a shout (somehow) when I pass thru.😊
I look forward to her videos.. nice of u to hook her up!
The power station could not have gone to a more deserving person 🙂👍
For the clam...I have seen folks make it through the whole season with them. However, they had to rachet strap each side down in the ground. I guess the wind likes to pop the walls in.
Love the Lorrie story! Glad you could help her.
What camp area are you in and how crowded is it getting? Ill be at Las Posa tomorrow late.
Have you ever thought of getting a scamp they sound like they meet all the requirements you have mentioned?
Yes it would be great but they are too short for me to stand up in

Good decision on the hightop. I haven't heard a good thing about that company afterward from fellow Nomad who did business with them!
looks like God was using you to help out lori. How cool is that !❤ 😊😊😊❤
Yeah there are a lot of people in that area that are having a hard time making ends meet so that power station went to a good home.
Super good that you were able to help Lorrie, be safe out there!

That was God Matty.
I watch her channel as well. Glad she got it! Thank you for helping a fellow nomad ❤
Good heavens Matty, you're hilarious.
I Agree!!
Check out wasatch overland in salt lake city. Cheaper and better than fiberine.
I was looking at that place in Salt Lake for Hight tops. Wasach Overland. I actually talked with them on the phone.
Robert Witham is making videos on dyi high top construction.
Tiny birds but tasty eatin 😊
Lorie definitely needed it. She has been staying in Quartzite to save money for a long time since she visited family and wiped out her funds.

I think the quail is probably smaller than Dan Quayle ever was.
I love my small utility trailer with my van .

I'm glad to hear Lori got the Bluetti. I I follow her also she's a very nice lady God works in mysterious ways.
Those Quail are good eating😋, Matty.
Good video. Cargo trailer is the way to go. Smart choice to set back from a company that doesn’t seem interested.
Good for you recognizing that business doesn't want yours. Something good will come your way.
After my van I bought a class b, but I missed my van, then I didn't! Standing is cool but living is a big thing! You can only decide...
You do you.😊
Electric brake controllers have come a long way. There is now one that goes on the trailer and senses when you apply the brakes in your vehicle and applies the trailer brake via Bluetooth i believe.

I didn't see the messages. What app did you message me through?
Mother Nature loves to throw curveballs to keep us on our toes! It’s trick or treat time. Hope the rest of your week is peaceful. Carry on! 😎
Gee Matty, some of us are up at 5am everyday!
Talk to the others that have high tops. There has to be other companies out there.

Good for you Matty! That made me happy when you said you gave that to Lorrie 😊.
Hey Matt were was that you got a mail box IN QS that you could use as residency and get registration? Also is it a PMB box?
I just got a 5X8 cargo trailer, they are around 950 lbs so, you really don't need brakes, I put solar panels and an awning on mine and a 39X76 inch bed with under bed storage and carpet on the floor and it has a side door, and I put in a window, I tow with a jeep compass with a roof top tent. Hi Matty...good thing the wind didn't blow your things away....you do you and things will work out....fingers crossed...take care .... Deborah 🇨🇦🍀
Lori's Way....had to be a God thing.🎉

Sir. You are always ending up there! Go back to your heart in Colorado!! Love and miss you!
Don’t get a trailer…it’s a hassle
Lorries way great choice for the power station
Me I have a hightop van and a enclosed 7x16 trailer works great for me
Peace
I also passed on getting a high top. Too many bad reviews.
I've never seen quail or eaten them. Have you?

It was obviously meant to be
Cool how things work out?
Hopefully tomorrow will be less wind
I just watched lorries video before seeing yours. I’m sure she will love the gift!

You're right to pass on that high top business. Customer service is so important.
That backpack power station to Lori was just the universe smiling. You'll notice when you pay attention 🌞.
Matty ,,, when you said 8 grand for that hightop shell,,,I said too much money!! Im glad you decided against it.
Hi Matty
5 am is late
Windy.. 10 2024....Brown toilet tent seems to be doing fine..Laxvespa-LosAngeles

Ment to be ❤
it's good that she got the power station. Bluetti would be happy to know that she has it. She is a good soul.
Aww thank you so much!❤
She was the first person I thought of and I am so happy that you found her. What a blessing. 🙌🏻
❤🙏🏻
What a great story! I love stories like that! What a perfect bit of serendipity! There are no accidents!
I agree with your assessment of the high top business. Your van is just fine the way it is.
