I've seen some people fill up a hot water bottle at bedtime or put a few hand warmers in their bedding or sleeping bags to help stay warm. Hope all is going well for you.
I actually have a hot water bottle, and never use it. 😄 I can sleep completely without a heater to very low temps and lots of layers, doesn't bother me. It was the fresh water and also my computer's water cooling that I was concerned about freezing and maybe bursting a pipe, same like in a house. And I am fine thanks, just behind with editing videos since this takes so much time to do.
I'm okay with the Wave 3 for the winter months, and this will be my fourth year using it. I have to swap out a propane tank every 7-10 days, which includes cooking and using it as a on person heater. I also wear warm clothes and sleep without the heater on, except on super cold nights way below freezing, which usually only happen in certain areas. For anyone staying in seriously cold, snowy regions further north, I recommend diesel combustion heaters. As for me, I stay in desert areas in the southern U.S., and my van is well insulated. If I wanted it warm and cozy throughout the entire van, though, the Wave 3 would certainly be too small.
@@vancomposer I'm just guessing, but I think the Wave 6 would be overkill for my needs given I'd be using a heater in a TAXA Outdoors Tiger Moth travel-trailer (TT) and it's so small I can't imagine a Wave 3 not being enough. However, I have heard good things about diesel heaters...but (1) I'd have to carrying another fuel around with me and (2) I'm not sure about the quality OR their safety (Chinese Crap, like most thing we buy nowadays). Still, I'll look into a diesel but again, it'll likely be overkill and I'd need something with less BTU output...even though it sometimes gets just a tad cold in Colorado. good luck...cold is no fun ... get a few years older it will really suck. lol. all the cold ventilation mixed with a little wave 3 doesant quite cut it...done that one In a cold winter in a van...it sucked..lol...good luck bud...hang in there
I'll take the cold over the heat any day now, at least in the desert winter. Heat is my number one disliked aspect of vanlife. This year was pretty bad again, and after six summers, I'm on the verge of barricading myself somewhere with an AC next year.
Man, get a dog 🐕 and a down comforter and turn off all your gadgets read a book and go to sleep. And I really do not understand why people shut out the entire world I want to see what's going on all around my van and my little curtains do fine. This van life started out as a simple idea and it's hard to believe the extent to which people complicated it with technical gear. No offense really.
Oh man, totally agree with you on getting a dog (again), had one for 13 years and foster a friends one sometimes, BEST company ever! And you mean like my computer setup I use (need) for work? This has been the most liberating 6 years of my life having found a way to put this into a van, can't go simpler then that. I guess live and let live but we are on the same path here buddy, none taken. 🙋♂️
Any issues with condensation?
No, it's still too dry in desert winters, where I usually stay during this time of year.

...then get a Wave 6 and use that instead of the 3. For me, the Wave 3 may be the best choice given the TT I plan to get is way smaller than your RV.
