Riddle was his own worst enemy. Guy could have been a solid player in WWE for years, but he kept messing up. Had he not gotten in trouble right before the TKO deal ended, he'd probably still be in the company.
I doubt it honestly even if he didn’t mess up then he’d mess up eventually and they’d get rid of him

I genuinely think riddle just didn’t understand the wwe mindset. He was calling people out online like a UFC fighter would to build hype for a fight. But that’s really not how wwe does that.

I was very big fan of Matt Riddle in WWE from his MMA background fighting style to his stoner layed back character. Really enjoyed his partnership with Randy Orton as RKBRO and that rivalry with Seth Rollins taking about how his “wife took the kids and don’t want to see your bitch ass anymore”. But he unfortunately couldn’t keep himself out of trouble. He’s a big WHAT IF?

The sad thing is that Riddle rejuvenized Orton's career (imo Orton's best tag team partner by far) and the partnership put Matt Riddle on the Upper Midcard/Semi-Main Event level. Such a shame man, he really was this generation's RVD.

“Pay Your Dues”. I think that’s the best way to put it. Riddle already had some name recognition coming into WWE and wrestling in general, so instead of hunkering down, he tried to take an easier way of just calling people out.

Orton was like Riddle before but he had Shawn, Triple H, Edge, Undertaker and Cena to look after him.
It’s so crazy that he really was such a pretty significant figure in WWE for a bit only to just disappear.

Weed was never illegal for UFC fighters.(at least since 2012). However For the various athletic commissions who oversee the fight and impose rules, it was illegal during pre fight weight ins and during the fight .there is still a THC limit . So all Riddle had to was not smoke weed for a week .

The RKBro story line was clever. They almost made Randy Orton too dark... not for me, I loved the psychopathic Randy Orton legend killer night vision using apex predator Viper, and using Riddle to humanize Orton is kinda great technical writing. The use of Riddle as a foil for Randy, and Randy being a genius at putting other wrestlers over and finding ways to do it that don't make him look weak and his natural charisma axiomatically increases the face or heel effect depending on how Randy acts while still having that unpredictable duplicity to him where he would betray anyone that was getting too close or becoming a threat to him.. really really good writing... I'm blazed out so thanks for letting me riff

Riddle is a well rounded WWE Superstar and has all of the qualities that you want in a WWE Superstar.

You said it perfectly at the end: incredible performer, but his UFC mind antics and provoking people the wrong way, or constantly doing dumb stuff just was too much weight to keep up with. WWE gave him so many chances and he blew it. Might still be a chance in the future if he cleans up his act but unless he wants to keep fighting people for no reason and smoking too much, he’ll be better off retired.

Matt Riddle was one of my favorite wrestlers in NXT especially in his matches against Adam Cole and The Velveteen Dream. Dude reminded me of a young Rob Van Dam and Shawn Michaels.

I'm honestly surprised Matt Riddle didn't immediately go to AEW following his departure from WWE. Would've been nice to see a grudge storyline with Brock Lesnar and Matt Riddle, but of course it could only end one way. Matt was delusional if he truly thought WWE would even consider allowing Brock to lose that feud, considering how he's the guy who ended The Undertaker's 21-year unbeaten streak at Wrestlemania. Brock is just lightyears out of Matt's league in this company.
