Thank you very much for this full length video, extremely helpful and accurate tips for online sales
Glad you enjoyed it! - Mia, Art Prof Staff
This was SO incredibly thorough and helpful
this video has the perfect timing!! I just created my own website for my art and I was deciding on wether I should add a shop. But I was just too unsure about everything so I decided to just do a decent website to begin with. Can you do a video on how to do good quality prints, material, printer, general tips etc.?
Yes! At some point we will do one with Song Kang, who has tons of experience making prints. Check out her prints in her shop: www.song-kang.com/shop -Prof Lieu
Art Prof: Create & Critique Oh I‘m so excited! Thank you so much I will definitely check it out.
Very informative and lots of helpful tips! Thanks very much!
The drawing with the fingerprints allover has a vital feeling of movement - I think it is a marvellous drawing
It is for sure! - Mia Rozear, Art Prof Staff
Thank you Teacher you’re my Hero
Fantastic and so comprehensive, thank you Clara! -- I wish I had heard this before I shipped my first artwork!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for this! It has helped me tremendously
That's awesome! Sometimes this info can be so hard to find, even online - Mia Rozear, Art Prof Staff
Very Helpful!
Very helpful 🖤 Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Your channel is immensely informative.. almost anything & everything you need to know in the art world is here.. Otherwise its such a maddeningly crazy world out there... Thank you so much
We are soooo happy you're liking it! There's still so much content we'd love to cover in the future-- stay tuned :) - Mia Rozear, Art Prof Staff
Thank you for all the detail you gave us on this video. I’m now subscribed and will be tuning in to all future videos (and past videos- since this is 3 years ago😂).
Awesome! Thank you! Btw here is our 2023 updated video on selling: ua-cam.com/users/live_CzBJQ7zgms?feature=share -Prof Lieu
Thank you Prof. Lieu! I am "older" and old school. Your teaching videos are explaining so much. I have been thinking about going online for awhile now. Getting braver now!
Go for it!!! -Prof Lieu
Love how helpful this is! Setting up shop for my own work is rather intimidating, so it's pretty reassuring to know what to expect for art-specific setups and that yes, people are still doing this as "late" as now.
Just going to mention this too in case anyone finds it helpful: one way to learn and refine one's process on how to do online listings is (if you are so inclined) to sell whatever personal items you're decluttering (clothes, books, unused art supplies etc) on a platform. Like yeah, ebay's not etsy, but personally, going through this process was useful in getting comfortable with the idea and several steps outlined in the video. Dipping a toe to test the pool's temperature, as it were.
Thanks for the tips for people just getting into online selling! I wish I had done that when I first started, I could have used a few practice runs before setting up shop! -Lauryn, Art Prof Teaching Artist
Thank you so much - your lectures are detailed, delightful, and so practical! I do my work solely on computer, using my own source material. All my "originals" are therefore computer links. As I am very close to 80 years old, the physical work of going to printers, coleecting,, p[ackaging and shipping are really daunting. Is there a safe way of selling online by selling links to buyers?
I would have to investigate the shipping issue as my country does not have a post office. We only have couriers.
I just found you, love your content, I juust subscribed, I wish you existed when I was in art school
Welcome to the Art Prof family! :) -Lauryn, Art Prof Teaching Artist
I agree with this. This is why my "stuff" has its own address 😂🎉
Thank you. I just took the time to listen to this. Fantastic. So much information! One question. Would you suggest that, if just starting out, posting one print on Instagram (to test the waters) might be a good way to go?
Thank you so much for watching! We're glad you liked the video and got something from it. Selling a test print is a great idea-- then you'll get a sense of your audience and an estimate for how much packaging to buy, how to price your work, etc. If you liked this video, you might also enjoy this one: ua-cam.com/video/UuYF6pTnPto/v-deo.html

Happy D. sells her artwork in a variety of styles and mediums, it works for her, so variety can work, as long you organize it correctly.
I lob happy D
One more video: bingo. Content, timing, incredible. The only dilemma of mine: should I continue to listen to how NOT to have 10 items in my Etsy store ( and I do have exactly 10) or, I actually should stop listening and make more paintings to upload to my Etsy store? On the serious note, thank you again and again for posting this material. BTW, this dilemma: listen or create is actually very real. I am absolutely in love with Art. Prof. There is no channels on youtube ( and I am UA-cam junkie) you can compare with this site. None. But, I have to be very selective in what to listen, otherwise, it is hard to digest all tons of incredible quality of videos and, on the top of everything, to realize how little you know. Basically, what I am trying to say: THANK YOU!
Thank you so much for watching!! So glad you found us. -Prof Lieu
Is there a summary for this livestream? I'd love to listen, however it's difficult due to the terrible internet connection :-((
A summary would be immensely appreciated!
Hi! We do add time stamps to the videos, but it takes a little while for our staff to get to it, so eventually. -Prof Lieu
you need to set up a sup domain for the web url
I was sitting here working on an 8x10 orange sunset watercolor painting and I wish you could have seen my face when you said those words! Made me laugh
Omg I’m dying 😂😂😂 -Prof Lieu
The times I have sold online has been to people who I know but I am curious to hear about possibilities to find out how it can be done
It is definitely doable! If you found this video helpful, you might enjoy this one too: ua-cam.com/video/oFuaoXYFy04/v-deo.html - Mia Rozear, Art Prof Staff
I would love to print locally but have no idea how to develop that relationship. Are many printers willing to do a test print and isn't that contingent on committing to a big print run? I have outsourced printing for biz cards and xmas cards and 50% of the time - not exaggerating - there is a problem with really basic things like the cuts or the print borders so a local relationship would be great.
Hi Jennifer! Thank you so much for watching-- I think the simplest way to develop a relationship with a printing service is to send emails or go in person to talk about who you are as an artist, and the services you'll need. The more you go in, the more they'll get to know you! It's a lot more reliable than just ordering online (I've had experiences with terrible quality prints and damages that cost a ton). USPS is offering free shipping scale with Stamps.com signup. you pay shipping but the scale is free. limited time offer.
maybe the third time I've watched this stream - but why photograph rather than scan?
A lot of useful information can be gained by showing the artwork on a wall like the quality of the paper, the scale, and dimensionality. -Lauryn, Art Prof Teaching Artist
Prof did you print your art works?
I haven't in the past! Maybe some day. -Prof Lieu
I went to Tamara’s insta and website and can’t find her t-shirts :(
I would message her, she’s super nice and might do another run if people show interest. -Prof Lieu
Do we have to claim the money we make from our sales on our taxes? How does that work 🤔
Yes you do, it’s done through Schedule C. -Prof Lieu
Ive heard Etsy isnt what it used to be.
I've heard soooo many good and bad things about Etsy, I can't figure out what's real! - Mia, Art Prof Staff
