    If anyone new to the channel is wondering about 12 o'clock vs 45 degree offsets, he already made a great video about that almost 2 years ago called "Offset Red Dots".

    I mount red dots, so the rear of the dot is on top of the shell deflector, that lets me get behind the optic with NODs and keep things consistent. I don't feel the need to push dots out to the edge of the rail anymore, having them back closer to my eye works better for a few reasons with little negatives for me. so, putting a micro dot on an existing optic, I prefer to run them on the rear ring top unless I plan on using the elevation dial, then it goes on the other ring top so I can see the dial. it's a case of what works for you. it's always a good idea to consider options and think things through, maybe there is a better idea out there, thanks for the time, great video as always.

    Badger Ordnance Condition One mounts also allows optic placements at 12 o clock and the 45/35 angles. They tend to be a little bulkier and more expensive though. Reptilia is a really elegant mount and I've been super happy with mine.

    Reptilia needs to release a 30mm and 34mm top mount for the Aimpoint ACRO footprint. I'm surprised they haven't yet. I'm running the RMR, but having to remove the RMR to throw in a fresh battery is annoying. Also, the closed emitter on a RDS that's just hanging out in the middle of nowhere seems like a good choice.
    EDIT: Just checked their website for the first time in a few months and they are now making them. Sweet.

    Thank you again for the sharing of knowledge and information. ADM makes a 90 & 45 for their Delta series of mounts. They are not footprint specific, just a section of pic. I find the 90 works best with the 1.5 mount, and the 45 with the 1.93.

    Great points👍. I’m just looking into modifying my rifle optic setup and with so many mounts and optics options it can get expensive very fast just in mounts alone. You bring up and show some very good examples to help narrow down options that I think would work well. Thanks!

    American Defense Manufacturing delta mount also has a replacement scope ring with a 1913 section for mounting mrds. I've got a 509t piggybacking a primary arms glx 2.5-10x44 and I love it.

      Got a holosun 508T @ 12o’clock on the same PA scope 2.5-10x with a reptilia mount and it’s a pretty sweet set up!! . It transforms my 18” DMR into a more versatile rig!!

    I like LPVOs but found when aiming passively through nods I kept bumping the scope when trying to use the top mounted red dot. Scope was mounted at 1.54 with proper eye relief.

    Reptilia makes a standalone rds mount for 30mm scopes too. Which allows you to do the same thing with other mounts. Its better suited to run the dot towards the front of the scope though.

    Steiner offers that P4XI LPVO in a G1 green reticle ( 5204 ) , and its in MIL vs MOA like the P3TR reticle. . i have an astigmatism , and its much better to the eye than red . lots of green dots out there also .

    I considered a 12oclock mount but went with an offset on my Unity 2.05 mount. That way I have the riser for my 1-6x and still natural feeling red dot for close

    Great points!.. Unfortunately I like to run arisaka or ggg 45ish offset at the rear. Only cause I had the OG arms 22 rings with pic rail top ring. Problem was that, my scope had to be sent in for warranty.. It was a Leupy .. Free of charge but then my rifle was down and out. If shtf and I needed it, well I was SOL. Since then, I ran arisaka offset or GGG offset or AMS offset pic rail sections (excluding arisaka since they make specific plates) with RMR or holosuns so I could atleast make my rifle useful with something. Havent used irons since like 2010. Prob never will again. Although I haven't jumped on the bandwagon for pistol red dots. Only irons with pistols still

    Hard for me to wrap my head around a dot mounted on a LPVO . On my rifle with a LVPO I keep it on 1x and dial up when needed. No if I had a 3x or 4x whatever scope I can see a red dot being mounted also say on an ACOG for example . NVD use I can absolutely see a reason to have this setup . Until I try it I won't really knock it .

  • @FirePrank6
    @FirePrank6 2 роки тому

    Would like to add a few companies have a 1 o'clock mount, like that reptilia mount you have, probably the best option if you plan on using scopes instead of an LPVO, as it allows easy dialing, moves the red dot out of the way of potentially large turrets, and makes it a little easier to lift your head up to use the red dot for gross target acquisition while the scope is on high power, trend I saw coming from PRS competition shooters. Still easy to use NODs, just not very ambi.
    Final thing I will share, I prefer to run the red dot on the rear because of the easier presentation, especially under NODs, but also because it allows me to mount a thermal clip-on onto my LPVOs. This only matters if, like me, you use an objective mount (Rusan) instead of a forward rail mount. Some people get annoyed by it getting in the way of their hand for dialing magnification, I actually like it because I tend to use it like a place to hinge my hand on if that makes any sense.
