I made these last night and was floored at just how beautiful they came out! It was my first time making and using modeling chocolate too. I took three pink roses and three red with heart sprinkles regular cake pops, arranged them in a small short vase with the bottom filled with mini dark chocolate chips to look like dirt.....it was stunning! I'm addicted to my cupcake addiction!
Hi - Yes, I use modelling chocolate for my people toppers and figurines and it dries firm, but you can use the heat of your hand to soften it again to make it workable - great if you make mistakes. You also have a lot more time to work with it than fondant as it doesn't dry out, but if it is hot, the heat from your hands can make it a bit sticky. Its kind of a trade off!
She is amazing! I look up to Yoyomax12 and am happy we could collab with 2 awesome cakepop ideas :) Really, we make the same sort of stuff so it kind of made sense to get together ;) So glad you liked this cake pop - I was over the moon with how the video came out :)
They are time consuming, but they are so worth it! I wouldn't make these for sale, I'd just make them for special people in my life, that I think are worth the extra time! :)
Hi! I made 3 and they were all fine. The cake pop itself is quite small, and you can add fewer petals if you are concerned. I left mine on the bench in pretty warm conditions for a week and they were all fine (not to eat, but to look at)
my last video for you I've officially watched all your videos and watched your show, you have made it Elise I'm so proud. You're so talented and I'm so happy for you 💙
Hi - did you leave the modelling chocolate to rest overnight? If it kneads up nicely after the overnight sit, and then goes sticky it might just be a bit warm and need to go in the fridge for half an hour or so. And the modelling chocolate won't go completely hard, but it will set enough to hold its own shape and be wrapped in a bag. perhaps wait an hour or so after making them to wrap them though, just to give the chocolate time to cool after you've work with it :)
son los cakepops más bonitos que he visto nunca, igual que regalar una flor pero muy dulce. Me he quedado con la boca abierta. sigo diciendo que eres la mejor.
This is absolutely spectacular! I was absolutely wowed by these & I could imagine the wow factor by giving these as gifts! Thank you for this great tutorial!
Hi - If you use paper lollypop sticks, they will absorb the moisture from the cake pop ball after about 2 days and go a light yellow tinge. You can make them about 3 days in advance and they will be fine but I wouldnt recommend any earlier. And I would make sure you charge accordingly for these - there will be a lot of time on 150! The modelling chocolate will be firm enough to hold its shape, but won't dry out for a couple of weeks. :)
I made a bunch of these and they are amazing, I used a rainbow dot cake mix for the ball, and some of the cake pops I left with only a few peddles. Also for the green bottom I used green tootsie rolls flattened and cut into shape. There so beautiful, almost to pretty to eat! Thanks for the great tutorial!
Kudos to you! Regarding (all things cake and cakepop) tutorials, you are by far THE BEST. You are precise and straight to the point with directions which also adds to your genius. Thank you for sharing your creations with us all! Your tutorials are very helpful!
I used buttercream frosting and it turns out great. I even use creamcheese frosting if you want. You can of course use store bought for those quick fixes though.
Thanks Angeline Gatchalian, the idea is that anyone recieving these would be amazed at the beauty of the roses and then again by the fact they can be eaten! ;-)
Thanks for taking the time to tell your story Becky Moore! ;-) It's great to see you had success and also tried a few variations on the basic idea.....this is how new recipes and ideas come about! Elise
I made these for Valentines Day (along with your modeling chocolate) and they turned out perfectly! My dad thought they were store bought and nobody could believe that they were cake pops. Thanks so much!
Make the full modelling chocolate, knead it and everything. Then once it is completely ready to use, add food colouring paste a little at a time and knead (or massage) it in until its completely mixed through :)
The reason it looks better with odd numbers is because in nature, all things follow the fibonacci sequence which is 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 etc. so even though it's technically not "odd numbers" it's not the perfect symmetry that you would get with even numbers :) You are so talented!
Hi Guadalupe! Thanks so much for your lovely message! You are so welcome - if you are having trouble with materials, check online sellers and ebay as most places are willing to post worldwide and its a great way to buy hard to find items for decorating :) I'm so glad you're enjoying the tutorials, messages like yours make it all worthwhile! XXX Elise
Hi Carli Mario, There are many varibles when considering how many roses a batch of modeling chocolate may or may not make..run with 3-5 and see how you go. Better to make too much than not enough as it is a very versatile food. :-) Elise
Hi April - yeah, sounds like you overheated the chocolate. Slow and steady is best, and maybe half power if you're burning it often - about 30 seconds at a time :)
I liked your FB page then saw the link to this tutorial. You're videos are so clear and you make a great presenter!! Thanks for creating awesome tutorials :)
Great to hear you had success Woozworld Starzz, Love to hear that people are trying a few different ideas out and working outside their comfort zone. :-) Elise xx
Hi - Have you let it sit overnight? If its particularly hot, it may just be taking a little longer to set, so you can try putting it in the fridge for an hour. I haven;t tried this recipe with candy melts, I just make all mine white chocolate and add the colour as I need it. Let me know if this helps, otherwise I will try to help you troubleshoot! xx Elise
Hi Daigilia, They wont melt in a room which is a 'comfortable' temperature. I would look at packing them as if they where real flowers, just try to be gentle with them. Good luck Elise
I sooo appreciate this tutorial. I skipped a major step with decent results. Based on the final shape of the base of the cake pop/rose, and the fact I wasn't hunting down all the ingredients, I used frozen whole strawberries. Put the lollipop stick from the stem side (which is removed) Dipped them in the chocoate, and then proceeded to continue with every thing as video shows. End resut? Good! The strawberries need to be kept cold/near frozen--if I could have found fresh it would be easier.
Lol Olivia, you have no idea how long it took us to get this one together! She is in Canada and I am in Australia so theres a lot of thought that goes into collaborating across that distance. I AM however collabbing with CakesByChoppa with some avengers themed stuff (well, one of them anyway) next week :)
Hi. I'm just curious could the 'cake pop' be substituted for small strawberries? I would like to try this with them but I'm wondering if the modeling chocolate woul stick?
Hey Marina - can you get glucose? It should be available in the supermarket there I think. Easier to get than corn syrup! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment :)
Me too Missy! She is awesome :) Glad you liked the tutorial! Thanks for tuning in :)
I'm glad this is modeling chocolate instead of fondant. I don't really like fondant. But I haven't tasted modeling chocolate yet
Awesome - so glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for tuning in :) xx
Great to hear Brianna Simulumbu!

Hi. I'm just curious could the 'cake pop' be substituted for small strawberries? I would like to try this with them but I'm wondering if the modeling chocolate woul stick?
it does work but you still need to use something like melted chocolate that would help stock it
I am definitely going to be making these for my mom's birthday. She'll love them :D
Lol - Thanks! I love yoyomax12 and am super stoked we could collab for you guys :)
