  • First encore song - "In your Eyes" form the Peter Gabriel I/O tour - on Monday 19th June 2023 at the O2 Arena in London, UK.
    Please note this is the only video (and no photos) I took during the entire concert because I wanted to be in the moment. Phone was close to my chest and there was no-one behind me.
    Other people there were not quite so considerate!
    The whole concert was AMAZING! Thank-you Peter.

    My memory of this song is bittersweet. I requested it of the local FM radio station at 5:30 a.m. on the morning I was to be married later in the day. They granted my request gladly. The wedding went on as planned; a beautiful day ! About 3 years later, my husband fell ill, and after a very long struggle and bouts of mental illness, died in his sleep. That was 30 years ago. To this day, I still weep when I hear this , but with a smile, knowing how much my mind was opened . No matter the pain, it is the journey that teaches us; not the destination.

      She is Ayanna Witter-Johnson, the cello player. She also sang the Kate Bush part on “Don’t Give Up” superbly. I’m sure you can find in on UA-cam somewhere. I was too wrapped up in the moment to do any more filming. This is all I took.

    Thank you for posting this. While I enjoyed it, I couldn't help but feel there was something lacking. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but I just knew that I didn't feel the goosebumps and excitement that I usually get when I listen to this song. Was it the drums that were following instead of leading the rhythm section (dare I say dragging?)? Was it the lack of dynamics (poor sound engineering)? Was it the dead patches in between the lyrics? Was it the lack of theatrics that PG has been known for? While it's cool to see PG out there performing again, it makes me sad to see that he's not surrounded by vibrant musicians to lift him up and carry him. It also makes me sad to see such a mundane set design. The PG of old - the showman - would never had tolerated this. After watching this I needed my real PG fix so I found the following video of live PG from the 1990's which did in fact give me goosebumps: ua-cam.com/video/evN6DIGPIJM/v-deo.html

      I agree the video you showed was much better with less carrying on from the drummer not as much energy in the other video

    • @mikebruce7723
      @mikebruce7723 Рік тому +1

      To start the audio is much better on the other video. Besides that, there is definitely more energy on the earlier recording, more talent and more instrument variety. But even PG doesn't have the same energy or sound, but I guess that's the difference between being 32 and 72. Although for 72 he's doing ok unlike say Bon Jovi whose voice is shot.

    • @jacquelinewoll5862
      @jacquelinewoll5862 Рік тому

      I agree too. He could've been singing from his couch and it would've had the same effect on me. This was just so bland n truthfully boring. Energy n enthusiasm was missing.
