    Sugestion: why not mentioning the european name for Arai models in your reviews? This one is Profile V in Europe. I suppose you have lots of views down here. Either way, very informative as always!

    • @gwot
      @gwot 2 роки тому +11

      because they're an American webstore, not just a review channel. They sell primarily to the American market, with American names, they have a lot of stuff they can't ship out of country due to manufacturer's regulation. And Arai actually makes different shape helmets for different markets, so the American Regent-X might not fit the same as the European Profile-V.

    Is a well fitted Corsair X harder to get on the noggin than a well fitted Regent X? I am 100% road rider, zero track. But, I have the budget for either - I'm leaning toward the Corsair X but a bit worried it will be overly tight on and off.

    I really don't understand why emergency cheekpads removal aren't standard. A $500 helmet isn't "cheap", and it doesn't include it? not like it's a high tech sophisticated piece of engineering technology that'll costs hundreds of $ to incorporate...

    I just bought the Signet-X...the fit is good and the comfort okay. I tried the Shoei 1200 but had a hot spot just above my forehead. Stores locally don't have the Regent or Defiant, so I cant compare fit. Can anyone answer if the comfort level of the Regent-x is on par with the Signet-x and Defiant-x or better?

    Hey guys!
    Can you confirm that the Profile-V Arai helmet sold in europe is in fact the same lid as this one here?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  3 роки тому +3

      It is not. The Profile-V is designed ECE 22.05 certified and has a slightly tweaked shell for that very reason.

  • @JobyStaneslavose
    @JobyStaneslavose 4 роки тому

    why is arai helmets sold in europe only come with ECE rating and same models from the arai americas line up come with snell?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  4 роки тому +1

      In the helmet industry different helmets get different ratings depending on the market they are sold in. Additional, there can be differences between the helmets. For instance, Asia market helmets always skew to a rounder head profile to better suit the typical user there.
      I hope that helps!

    I feel like Arai really dropped the ball on this helmet.
    Safety wise, I can never fault Arai on that and I truly believe they are at the top of the chart when it comes this aspect; no questions about it.
    What really struck out at me with this helmet is the I feel they pushed this to market too early and the compromises far exceeds the cost saving that is being passed on to the consumer.
    Some of which was presented in this video while others were not.
    1. Non-Removable Neck Roll, Top Liner
    (This is a big no no, especially from a high end helmet producer such as Arai, most people who are shelling out this type of money for a helmet expects a level of quality and being able to completely remove the gut of the helmet for cleaning should be one of them. I live in Texas, can you imagine how much sweat I build up in this helmet after just one afternoon in 95 degree heat, let alone an entire day at the track; gross....)
    2. Interior Liner Quality
    (From the just the visual inspection of the liner it seems that Arai is going back with what used to use in their helmet from the late 2000's and use to come on their Vector 2 Helmet. The material itself holds up fine and all but it was not comfortable against your skin whats so ever, it almost feels like fine sand paper)
    3. Old Vent Designs for Top Vent
    (Arai has opted for an older vent design for the vents up top, again this is probably for cost saving measure since the older vent are easier to produce however the reason for the newer slider design first found in the Quantum X and Corsair X was to make the helmet quieter with more position for tuning the air flow compared to older 2 position *on/off* which we find here)
    Conclusion:
    With all of these compromises of the Regent X it makes it extremely difficult to recommend this helmet to anyone, I would gladly pay the extra $100 to get into the Quantum or Signet X *which fits your head shape better*. At $550 USD for solid color which puts you into the realm of premium helmet and with the competition being the way it is you're left with no shortage on choices in this price bracket, IE Bell Star, AGV K6, Scorpion EXO- R1, hell... you can get a Shoei RF-1200 for less than this. Lets not forget that the RF-1200 is Shoei top end street/track helmet that is meant to compete with Arai's Quantum and Signet X.
    If Arai wanted to move more helmet , what they need to do is make this substantially cheaper like around the $350 mark to compete with Shoei and their RF-SR which is currently $399.00; by doing so they'll be able to get people into an Arai whom had never consider one before and once its time for a new helmet it'll most likely be another Arai they'll be replacing it with but from their higher end line. I believe that is why you see so many more people in Shoei than Arai. Both are consider top end manufacture of helmet but at the end of the day Shoei just has a more diverse line of helmet at a more obtainable price.

      My reason are purely personal as I've crashed in multiple Arai's from their older RX7, RXQ and even the newer Corsair X. Personally I've never sustain head injuries and one of the crashes was a high side that launched me several feet off the bike.
      While I'm sure other helmets may have protected me just as well I do not feel like taking that chance as my own personally experience has shown that safety is a number one priority with their helmets.

      I agree, as cool as Arai is as a brand, the Shoei RF1200 really is so much better value. I got mine on sale for much less than $500, and it's got the removable/replaceable padding, speaker cutouts, pinlock insert, plenty of active vents, and the DOT/Snell rating. I can't see any reasonable cause to buy this.

      I went from the Vector II to the Regent -x and find that there's way more uncontrolled air flow, and for me (yes-I have the right size), way louder. I didn't used to feel the need for ear protection, but with the Regent X, I feel I need ear plugs.

    I've never "gotten" Arai, as in I've never understood their approach to the art & science of making helmets. Putting vents in the visors, needlessly complicated visor ratchet mechanisms, this obsession they have with not putting any ventilation holes or channels in the helmet shell or EPS that every other manufacturer does, no sun shields, etc. etc...they have a unique approach to how they build helmets, to say the least. And now, a nearly $600, featureless "entry level helmet"...thanks, but no thanks, Arai. I'll stick to Shoei.

    I realize prices can change, generally over time, but you posted this video in March 2020 saying it was $495...yet now in June 2020 the basic solid colors on your website are $560...what gives? Also, seems like a ripoff for the money when it lacks literally every feature every other Arai helmet has (such as the 5mm removable foam, pinlock, etc) and the other helmets are only slightly more expensive.

      Easy- Revzilla is a classic bait and switch company. They lure you in with their free shipping....ssshhhhh...... as long as you spend a certain $ amount. Then advertise a certain product as ????%% off, then when you go to that product they only have one or two left in size KING KONG LARGE or xxx-small. Dennis Kirk is better, more honest, has been around for decades and will be around when Revzilla folds.

    How Arai can be considered “premium” while still using ‘80’s side pods is beyond me. Having a pointless piece of plastic dangling off the side of a $600 helmet doesn’t make much sense. Even HJC has surpassed Arai in styling. Too bad cuz I would try an Arai from wearing Shoei’s, but can’t get past the cheapness of those plastic side pods. 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • @onseki1774

    No pin lock included, wonky non-removable liner, non removable chin skirt (???), awful pod system from 2003... The Arai shape is just looking dated and their sense is too. If this is all they have to compete with the RF-1400 they should go back to the drawing board.
