  • Dr. Craig Newschaffer discusses autism spectrum disorders, their prevention and the challenges of public health research, on "In Focus" with Steve Highsmith on WPHL-17 in Philadelphia. This episode aired on April 21, 2012. Newschaffor is a professor and chair of the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the Drexel University School of Public Health and director of the A.J. Drexel Autism Institute, the first autism center in the U.S. focused on public health science.

    That's true, a public health focus is different from a biomedical focus. There are many autism centers that focus on biomedical research. The A.J. Drexel Autism Institute is the first one in the U.S. to emphasize public health science.

    First view first comment.....Nice move Drexel..thanks President Fry..however, Autism research center could be a core medical college concentration instead of Public Health specialization (both have different prospects and meaning)...
