I've heard the story many times, from intermediaries and watch historians. But to hear it from the man himself and see the undiminished passion in his eyes was truly remarkable. Thank you Blancpain, for sharing these unique shots of the legend himself. May his legacy live on.
I wish more brands did this. Wonderful testimony. Too few people know that it was Blancpain and Omega who created the first dedicated dive watches. They wrongly associate the Submariner...
@@molfar9049 yes but for us in the know it's kinda good because it keeps other watches that are far greater than Rolex from going up in price. I don't care for brand as long as it's a reputable high quality one and that often saves me alot of money.
Thank you so much for beautifully narrated Blancpain history. With excerpts from the inventor himself. An absolutely amazing piece of history. It makes me want to go out and source a Fifty Fathoms for myself. Coincidentally, watching this video is exactly the time I am looking for a high end diver!
A first-rate documentary elucidating the obscure history of this revolutionary watch. Mr Kingston's work to interview the key players and draw together the desperate strands of this story has been so worthwhile, both for its narrative impact and historical record. That Blancpain have supported and produced this classy endeavour is testament to their values and that of their parent organisation. Both the production and ethos of the work chime perfectly with the brand's values and the Fifty Fathoms watch - deeply thought.
I’m lucky enough of owning an FF since 2009. I have the vast majority of competitors also on my collection, but I got a say that the Blancpain is my absolute favorite. I thought I knew all about it’s story and history, but learn a lot on this amazing video. Thank you.
What an interesting post highlighting the history of Blancpain and Swiss watch history and with Mr. Fiechter himself, just impressive! Thank you very much for this historical contribution!
The Blancpain FF would out sell every sport diving watch on earth if they would make it 40mm - 42mm. The size is just to big for the average buyer or watch enthusiast.
Fantastic video! Fantastic history of a legendary timepiece! When the head of a company has a problem and throws himself into finding a solution, great things happen. Well done all!
A truly fascinating story straight from the horse's mouth. Such a nice man, I really liked the bit about the american jewels, typical Diver's solution to an admin problem. Also a special interest for me as I was a diver in the Navy.
Very nice video.. just a curiosity: The watchmaker explains very well that in fifty fathoms watches the gasket is on the tube of the crown, I wonder why in the bathyscaphe that I own there is no gasket. seems to be a good thing to increase the water resistance so why not?

I totally also rock girls watches all the time if 39 mm is a women's size. Love them just as much as my 35 mm dress watch from the 80s and my big 45 mm watches. Great choice of watch btw it's totally gorgeous.
Elvis how can I tell you much you are loved and missed. I'm going to meet you someday in heaven. You are so missed and loved. God watch over you.❤️💕💕💕💕

Did the original have "Blancpain" written on the side of the case in the same way today's Fifty Fathoms does? If not, why this design choice? It's a bone of contention for many concerning this otherwise amazing timepiece.
Never thought a piece on watches could bring a tear to the eye. Long live Blancpain
That's how they separate fools from their cash.

Thank you for your very kind message. Authenticity is part of the DNA of Mr. Fiechter and obviously Blancpain
That was fantastic. And the addition of Peter Coyote as narrator was a nice touch. 👍
If you haven't seen a Peter Coyote movie called "Bitter Moon," watch it. (It's awesome)

Rolex is very good at marketing.
Blancpain show rolex how to made unidirectal ring/bezel because rolex dont know how to produce it...

Blancpain is so underrated. Proud owner of the FF Bathyscaphe, to me any Fifty Fathoms is the true haute horology diver.
Thank you for your kind message
I totally agree with you as I am also a proud owner of Bathyscaphe~~~
@@박기철-i8p it is a gorgeous watch. I was looking at Rolex but yeah I saw the fifty fathoms and have not considered buying Rolex divers after

I'm not a fan of the 4 o clock date . 40 or 42 mm no date it would sell very well .

Spero che un giorno potrò acquistare questo pezzo di storia dell'orologeria che amo da quando ero ragazzino...
Wonderful!
purchased my very first Fifty Pathom last month. Love it!
This is so cool.
Thanks for watching!

German BUND Blancpain ff used VoN Buren watch cases, 1521 ref.
I can't help but think"why didn't they ring Panerai"
Panerai did not have a watch that met the US Navy specifications.
