At this point the only reason why nerf is still a thing is because of parents buying name brand and adventure force/dart zone is 10 times beter but no one other that enthusiast are buying them
The Shellstrike and Hammerstorm aren't too bad. But they did come out near the beginning of the year, so I can see why people would have forgotten about them.
While I can't entirely argue the list, Drac, I do kind of wish you'd just filled it with 2.0, just because that one hurts. A lot. Solvent welds and plastic clips preventing you from safely opening the blaster when one of the plastic leaf springs (!!!!!!!!) breaks, rendering the things almost completely irreparable is so very unforgivable to me. Anyway, not saying you're wrong, and I understand that each of these offers a second talking point. I just take 2.0 personally, so I'm ranting.
The hardest line to get down is gonna be Rival, Athena and hypnos are meh, prometheus and perses are good, but Kronos, Nemesis and Hades are top notch, dart zone is miles away with Half length and flywheels, xshot is doing Ok with his full length line, but when it comes to High impact round neither have one amazing blaster
Much like last year, I've been working in retail during the holiday season and have come first hand with many Nerf offerings. There was one time recently when I was working at the register and someone wanted to purchase the ultra three as a gift for their kid. As a cashier I'm in little position to stop them from buying it, if they've already made it this far, but I at least gave them the warning about the front pump action. There are sometimes when I work as an associate on the floor so I can more freely dissuade people from a product if they have questions about it. I owe it to myself and to fellow consumers that they buy a gift that is worthwhile using. I don't this way them from every Hasbro product, nor every toy, there's still plenty I don't know much about. But if I know something is blatantly malfunctioned or low value then I at least offer my two cents to be fair, even if they wind up buying it anyways.

In my opinion I would swap the elite 2.0 Shockwave with the Warden because the warden is just uncivilised I would also swap the Ultra 3 with something else because while the ergonomics are weird and probably designed by a guy who got drunk at the Mothership and made this to watch us suffer, it’s one of the good performing ultra blasters...
They don’t care about making high quality products they care about making money. Drac makes good stuff, but they want to hire people who make cheap stuff

Having worked in rotomolding i can tell you with newr certainty that the plastic is overcured if it smells that bad (which means it was extruded at a too high temperature). Not only is the smell horrible, it will also show discoloration and be more brittle. Definitely send it back because it will break on you if its indeed overcured.
I love that as the Ultra Three was falling he reached a lil to catch it and then immediately pulled his hand away with a disappointed look on his face😂
As someone who used to buy and play with Transformers all throughout my childhood and into/beyond High School in the 00's, I'm amazed that the Transformers figures have gotten about a third smaller and twice as expensive since my middle-school and high-school years. There's no excuse for a figure that's 4 inches to 5 inches tall costing $16-$18, and for figures that were once called Deluxe or higher are now called Leader class. Optimus Prime and Megatron were always the biggest, baddest, shelf-space consuming titans of every series I bought from back in the day. Nowadays you'd be hard-pressed to find an official Hasbro Optimus Prime that's any bigger than a Deluxe or Mega class Bumblebee.
I'd have put the Warden above the Shockwave, personally. The Shockwave, at the very least, does what it says it does on the box and doesn't just straight up break after a few minutes of play. That said, very good list, if a very sad one.

With how inconsistent the AR system is and how often the pump breaks, it's objectively one of the worst blasters Nerf has ever made. It's also a great example of why putting cheap parts in something and making it almost impossible to open is a bad combination.
I was in a nerf war bout a week ago and my competition had a shockwave that he was using. I had a Nerf Elite crossbolt, a jolt, and another blaster I forgot. You best believe I took him out several of times. Not to mention, I had my cousin with me, he was decked out. But there was a rule, if you get hit then your in 30 seconds later. But at the end, me and my cousin won.
What they shouldve done: Elite: Setting the bar Rival: for adults Elite 2.0: Same guns with new repaint or add bigger ammo capacity or springs and better fps without cutting corners: Ultra: No new darts, just more accurate and force. Or just dont even make it at all
The virgin nerf: -overly expensive products that commonly arrive lemoned -products come with very little darts and they are very inaccurate -huge cost saving measures making the blasters borderline useless -stupid product lines (elite 2.0, ultra, supposedly hyper too) The CHAD dart zone -cheap prices -sell darts on their website for cheap, and the products come packaged with very accurate waffleheads -quality blasters that only cut corners in the places where you wont care/notice -only 5 lines, that often weave into each other.
I have to agree that Hasbro has just destroyed everything it’s fans loved about its franchises. Everything from Nerf to My Little Pony has dropped so heavily in its quality that it’s inexcusable.
I also play table top games and I hate that other hobbiests hate on games workshop when as far as hobbies go, they put in way more effort than most hobby companies (yes at a premium price) and are constantly looking to improve
Well put. I’ve recently gotten into foam flinging with my boys and I’m glad I did my research. I was excited about Elite 2.0 until I watched videos on them. When I first saw the Ultra series I strait up ignored it. I saw their ways of trying to get us into proprietary ammo and said no.

Fully agreed when you brought up wizards of the coast. They have put out product after product this year and it's difficult to figure out what to buy. Shits exhausting.
I can't speak for the Star Wars side of Hasbro's offerings, but the Marvel stuff this year has actually been pretty good. Obviously not the greatest year, but between the Fox X-Men stuff, the retro Spidey wave, some really cool BAFs with the big Venom Deadpool. Plus GI Joe made a comeback
Imagine going into 2020 a year ago. Could anybody predict that NONE of the WORST Nerf blasters would have included the Alpha Strike Series blasters. Yeah, 2020 was THAT BAD for Hasbro. On a much brighter note, Dart Zone (including Adventure Force) and Zuru’s X-Shot have been killing it. Smaller hobby companies have put out compelling innovations. And finally, the foam flinging community seems much more open than ever before.
Damn, Hasbro. It boggles my mind that Nerf is such a dumpster fire, but Transformers, Power Rangers Lightning Collection, Marvel Legends, and G.I. Joe Classified have released amazing figures this year.
5:00 Weirdly enough, as a Transformers collector I'm not that disappointed in the 2020 offerings. The War For Cybertron Trillogy figures have been great, well engineered, and well painted figures. And now we got high quality G1 Movie figures coming from the Studio Series line. Nerf went downhill this year, but Transformers seems to be at a all time high. Guess they refocused the budget into Other things then Nerf.

Before I became a Novice. Meaning that I was never into Nerf or Adventure force guns until after I started buying my 10 year old stepson some nerf guns. So I got him and his older brother two MEGA dart blasters for Christmas and as a suprise bonus I got myself a 2.0 Shockwave. I thought it was cool looking and I thought it would be alot of fun to battle it out with my kids. I was impressed with the Shockwave but I was also a lot inexperienced with this hobby. I did notice that the elite darts went off course a lot and I had a difficult time shooting my kids with it. I was also very disappointed in the Mega blasters. So I started doing some UA-cam review research. I eventually stumbled across multiple glowing reviews about the Nexus Pro. I knew I wasn't buying it for my son as its ages 14+. He's just 10. But I wanted to buy it for myself and put myself in the novice category. I love my Nexus Pro so much that I got myself another one and an Aeon Pro. I plan to mod up one of my Nexus Pro's. I am struggling to find people in my location to go to battle with. I know that in some places in our country there are clubs to join for competitive game. My location is in Tyler Texas. So if anyone can help me with this I would sincerely appreciate it.
As soon as the Ultra line came out, I told myself I'd never buy into that garbage. I've seen enough elite 2.0 reviews to know not to buy into that either. I'll stick with Dart Zone, the Rival line and older Nerf dart blasters.
Hey Drac. My first ever nerf blaster was no joke the OG Longshot. That thing was a beast back in the day even stock. The icons series is nothing more than just another cash grab for nerf to barley stay afloat
I was so excited for the Shockwave, but it barely even fires like 15ft most of the time. It is so sad. The Commander is a pretty good blaster though from Elite 2. Or at least mine is

Rebelle is legit man. My favorite pistols are the Messenger and the Sweet Revenge. So much easier to sand and paint then standard Nerf.
It doesn't hurt that a bunch of them like the Rebel Hammershot equivalents (there were more than one if I'm not mistaken) had pretty sweet shells.

Fully agreed when you brought up wizards of the coast. They have put out product after product this year and it's difficult to figure out what to buy. Shits exhausting.

I can't speak for the Star Wars side of Hasbro's offerings, but the Marvel stuff this year has actually been pretty good. Obviously not the greatest year, but between the Fox X-Men stuff, the retro Spidey wave, some really cool BAFs with the big Venom Deadpool. Plus GI Joe made a comeback
Imagine going into 2020 a year ago. Could anybody predict that NONE of the WORST Nerf blasters would have included the Alpha Strike Series blasters. Yeah, 2020 was THAT BAD for Hasbro. On a much brighter note, Dart Zone (including Adventure Force) and Zuru’s X-Shot have been killing it. Smaller hobby companies have put out compelling innovations. And finally, the foam flinging community seems much more open than ever before.
Damn, Hasbro. It boggles my mind that Nerf is such a dumpster fire, but Transformers, Power Rangers Lightning Collection, Marvel Legends, and G.I. Joe Classified have released amazing figures this year.
5:00 Weirdly enough, as a Transformers collector I'm not that disappointed in the 2020 offerings. The War For Cybertron Trillogy figures have been great, well engineered, and well painted figures. And now we got high quality G1 Movie figures coming from the Studio Series line. Nerf went downhill this year, but Transformers seems to be at a all time high. Guess they refocused the budget into Other things then Nerf.
Ouch, I am not even Falcons fan but that shade comparing them to the Ultra line was brutal.
now that you pointed out the literal bad smell of these blasters im just gonna buy dart zone from now on. Or old Nerf guns on eBay that are actually good.
Hasbro as a whole is doing this. I bought a black series lightsaber and IT DOESNT HAVE THE CORRECT SOUNDS AND DOESNT MAKE CLASH SOUNDS UNLESS I SMACK THE HILT MYSELF
Hasbro also does this to the main Beyblade line. Almost all of the tops are lighter and more hollow than their original versions.
I personally say that the ultra 3 doesnt belong on the list, let alone at the top...

Before I became a Novice. Meaning that I was never into Nerf or Adventure force guns until after I started buying my 10 year old stepson some nerf guns. So I got him and his older brother two MEGA dart blasters for Christmas and as a suprise bonus I got myself a 2.0 Shockwave. I thought it was cool looking and I thought it would be alot of fun to battle it out with my kids. I was impressed with the Shockwave but I was also a lot inexperienced with this hobby. I did notice that the elite darts went off course a lot and I had a difficult time shooting my kids with it. I was also very disappointed in the Mega blasters. So I started doing some UA-cam review research. I eventually stumbled across multiple glowing reviews about the Nexus Pro. I knew I wasn't buying it for my son as its ages 14+. He's just 10. But I wanted to buy it for myself and put myself in the novice category. I love my Nexus Pro so much that I got myself another one and an Aeon Pro. I plan to mod up one of my Nexus Pro's. I am struggling to find people in my location to go to battle with. I know that in some places in our country there are clubs to join for competitive game. My location is in Tyler Texas. So if anyone can help me with this I would sincerely appreciate it.

As soon as the Ultra line came out, I told myself I'd never buy into that garbage. I've seen enough elite 2.0 reviews to know not to buy into that either. I'll stick with Dart Zone, the Rival line and older Nerf dart blasters.
Ok some people may disagree but the ultra pharaoh is pretty cool and it's TRUE bolt action

Hey Drac. My first ever nerf blaster was no joke the OG Longshot. That thing was a beast back in the day even stock. The icons series is nothing more than just another cash grab for nerf to barley stay afloat
I was so excited for the Shockwave, but it barely even fires like 15ft most of the time. It is so sad. The Commander is a pretty good blaster though from Elite 2. Or at least mine is
