No, pretty sure it's because it's a live feeding, and not a frozen and thawed feeding. Live feeding is completely unnecessary, sadisticly unnecessary for the prey and potentially very harmful for the snake. I've got 7 snakes myself, and even if live feeding was legal here, I still wouldn't see any reason to do it.

I'm not really against live feeding but I understand why they do it. They want to discourage it. Personally I would never live feed but I don't tell others how to live their lives. Really for me, the thing that I am upset about in this video, is the snakes enclosure. Snakes need to be able to stretch out, I doubt that snake can in there. But even that may not be worth complaining about as I let my snake out of it's enclosure quite often to just roam around in my room, I make sure there is nothing it can hurt itself on or anywhere I can sneak off too before letting it out, and it just spends time exploring around. Not sure if you'd wanna do that with a giant boa though.

i feed my snakes frozen/thawed mice too, but i do wonder if the captive bred snakes over generations start breeding unwanted traits, in part because the ones who would make better hunters would be doing the breeding. i have frequently seen snakes that don't even strike instead they leisurely taste/nibbble on mice(which no live mouse would stick around for). the snakes that do that wouldn't even dream of constricting prey, and those snakes also happen to be the multiple gene morphs that would have a hard time ambushing anything because of their coloration(albinos for example). there is gonna have to come a point where we differentiate captive bred(domesticated) snakes from wild ones. at some point in history we made that distinction with dogs/wolves, its about time wedo the same with certain snake breeds.

actually most snake owners are not recommended to keep it in a large box. It should be fully extended and make it around 2/3 of the enclosure before needing a larger one. Not only is this a fact it also is agreed upon by nearly all snake keepers and breeders. Most of us are actually very much doing what is in the best interest of the snake and not ourselves as well. This snake could use a longer enclosure with at least one hide and something to climb, but for a bare minimum it could be a lot worse.

@@Anthony-fo8no its a captive animal its not like you’re releasing it into the wild in the future, it’s like training a cat to catch wild mice for food but normally we just feed cats, cat food. plus like they said you risk injuries or death and you’d really risk your animals life just so you could give it to them alive? they still can get hunting benefits by moving the mouse around and making them sense it then catch it. I dont mean this comment to come off as rude i’m just saying you’re not really doing anything different whether its dead or alive.
