People aren’t born with talent. I’m sorry if this comes off as rude but I just wanted to point out that many artists get offended when people say that they are “born with talent” because it kinda just disregards all of the practice they did to get this far. I hope I don’t sound too rude

donuts and gravy You are absolutely correct. Art is a skill that can be learned, just like playing the piano. Stating someone is talented disregards all the sweat and tears. Sure, some people are more adept when learning certain skills so learn faster. Casey has worked hard to learn her skill and it’s her hard work that should be applauded.

I started drawing EYEBROWS when I was like 13 because I thought giving happy characters eyebrows made them look angry.

Panic! AtMyBrain my school *SUCKS* at teaching us art, I’m in 3rd grade and we are still learning about the primary colors instead of learning the values like shape, color and texture.

Yenna in our school, ( probably not in some other schools) we all get tested in 1st grade to make sure we know the things we should know by the age, even the autistic and special needs kids. The test includes: primary colors, basic math and the alphabet. Recently, (by recently I mean about a year :p) and we all got it right! We knew everything. But we are still getting these things taught to us! The art teacher knew that we knew basic art. That resulted to us learning nothing in 2nd grade and 3rd! Most schools don’t take this test. We just can’t not learn anything for 2 years. Hopefully in 4th grade we will learn something different.(sorry for the long comment)(and my bad grammar)

youtube revolutionized the way we learn. it's not to say that people weren't able to do cool art before, but kids these days have access to so many resources to learn. And the social media community can help in the sense of people point out the mistakes or which direction to go.
