  • Savoy Brown was a British blues rock band that performed live at My Father's Place in Roslyn, New York on September 10, 1975, which was recorded and broadcast by WLIR FM on Long Island. The band had undergone several personnel changes at the time of the concert and had just released their 12th album, "Wire Fire," a few months later.
The lineup for the concert consisted of Kim Simmonds on lead guitar and vocals, Paul Raymond on keyboards, guitar, and vocals, Andy Rae on bass and vocals, and either Dave Bidwell or Tommy Farnell on drums and percussion (both drummers appeared on "Wire Fire"). The first track, "Tell Mama," had a rough start, and the band played several songs from their new album during the show.

Savoy Brown was formed in London in 1965 by guitarist Kim Simmonds, who has remained the only constant member of the band throughout its long history. The band's name was inspired by a street in the South Bronx neighborhood of New York City that was known for its lively music scene.
Savoy Brown began as a blues band, but over the years they incorporated more and more rock elements into their sound, becoming a significant influence on the development of blues rock. Their early albums, such as "Getting to the Point" and "Blue Matter", are considered to be classics of the genre.
The band has gone through many lineup changes over the years, with Kim Simmonds being the only member to appear on every Savoy Brown album. Some of the many talented musicians who have played with Savoy Brown over the years include singer Chris Youlden, drummer Roger Earl (who later co-founded Foghat), and bassist Andy Pyle.
Savoy Brown continues to tour and record new music to this day, with Kim Simmonds still at the helm. They have released over 30 albums and have a devoted fanbase around the world. Their music is characterized by Simmonds' virtuosic guitar playing, powerful vocals, and a driving rhythm section. savoybrown.com/

I saw Savoy Brown Dec 3, 1975 at the Main Point, Bryn Mawr, Pa.
I actually left another concert after the first act ( David Sancious + Tone), drove 20 miles from Blue Bell to Bryn Mawr, Pa., to see the Wire Fire tour.
Also available is the Record Plant Sausalito show from 1975- in studio!
