  • Last year, I reported quite a few problems with my dragon fruits growing in pots for the fifth growing season. Now it is the sixth growing season. How the dragon fruit are doing? Watch inside to find out if the problems still remain or have been solved?

Maybe neon roots are weakening. Try something for root growth such as kelp based fertilizer. Also turn the pot 180 degrees to awaken it more. Good video!

Thank you for your comment. Interesting that turning the pot 180 degrees can awaken the root. I may try it some other time, but this time, I just want to see how the plants handle the bad situation such as root problem. Neon and Pink Panther are very similar varieties, but Pink Panther growing more branches from the main branch but Neon only growing flower buds. I would like to see this process going through without interruption to see what is going to happen later. Since I have the Sugar Dragon re potted and Neon is basically the same as Sugar Dragon, so I will not lose the variety if Neon will not recover.

I had similar issues. Your soil is no good for long term looks like. Change to 100% sand with 2 inch’s of compost on top and that should solve your problems.

I am testing if the soil is bad by putting some new plants in the pot with old soil and also leaving some old plants in the same pots. It seems that all the new plants are growing well in the old soil and some of the old plants recovered in the same pots arguing about the bad soil theory. It may still too early to draw conclusions but we will see. Thank you for commenting.
