    This looks gorgeous, and it has the added advantage of being rectangular. I’m looking for a virus pattern for an afghan for Mt friend’s daughter, and I think I’ve found it. Can’t wait to start.

    This is beautiful. I can't read patterns so I truly appreciate tutorials. I started this one and made it to starting the shells when I realized base 6 count in corners was off. I frogged it. My question is; the rectangle virus blanket the same as this one? That one seems easier for me to follow.
    Thank you so much.
    Sorry about the long post.

      My counts on starting round 7 which is the start of shells was off as well. May I ask how you corrected it please?

    • @jacquelinemadigan6727
      @jacquelinemadigan6727 Рік тому

      @Karon Hall If you did what I did, then you just did an extra row or two.
      The first couple of rounds are not done the same way rows 4 and up are.
      I just had to pull out a round, and then I had the right number of blocks on the end.
      Hopefully this is an easy fix for you also.
      And you just counted the blocks going to the edge from the middle, and had 6 "rows", but in reality that's 7 rounds.
      If I'm making any sense.
      I'm sorry if I didn't explain this well.
      Goodluck!
      Because this exact issue, is the reason why I have tried this exact blanket and video for years. And this is the reason I have yet to get to row 7.
      Which has made me extremely sad. I love this blanket.

    I used a 5.5mm hook instead of the 4.25 hook called for in the pattern. I found that I needed to use 7 chains instead of 5 in the "Valley Loopy" rounds for the blanket to lay flat when putting in the DC rows. still a beautiful pattern, and I LOVE it!!!

    • @JonnaMartinezCrochet

      @Jonna Martinez thank you!
      I'm really hoping this is the mistake I was making. I'm actually in the process of starting the blanket I had abandoned months ago, because I finally have the right number of blocks at the narrow end.
      But I had about 3 rows to many. But if I didn't fix my problem, I will definitely be msging you for help.
      Just so I know, what are the numbers of blocks I should have down the long edge?
      I have the right number of blocks at the narrow end. But maybe this isn't the fix I thought I needed to keep going.

      Many people don’t realize you do not count the blocks that make the corners. You should have 3 single blocks at the short ends.

    Do you Nick this would fit a car seat blanket or baby Moses basket x

    • @JonnaMartinezCrochet
      @JonnaMartinezCrochet  4 роки тому

      Yes, but I think I would do it in a baby weight yarn and F 3.75mm hook so I could add rows to adjust the size more accurately. Thank you for watching and commenting.

    I love this pattern. I’m having trouble on the long side having it come out even. I start out with the Chain 5 skip first block, chain 3 skip 1 block 3 times, chain 5 skip 2 blocks, etc. I get to the end of the long side and am 1 block shy before the last chain 5. What am I doing wrong?

      Hello Deb sorry for the delay. Thank you for commenting again to remind me. You’ve picked up an extra block on the long sides. You should only have 23 blocks. If you’d like extra help please message me on my Facebook page or Etsy shop so we can exchange photos. This way I can help better.

    Can I make a table runner with this pattern

      Yes depending on the length of the table. The longest one in my written pattern might be just right. Thank you for watching and commenting.

    Is this different from your other rectangle virus blanket tutorial? That one started with a base chain of 21

    • @JonnaMartinezCrochet
      @JonnaMartinezCrochet  4 роки тому +1

      Yes it is. Much longer. This one is a true rectangle. The other is just slightly longer than wide. Thank you for watching and commenting.

      Jonna Martinez cool. Thank you. I was confused for a minute. I’m making the rectangle virus shawl, the one with 21, chains, for a friend’s baby

      Jonna Martinez ❤️ I’ve made the square virus blankets in the past, and she requested a rectangle blanket. Plus, these blankets work up really fast. I want to get it done, washed, blacked and wrapped, so I’m not worried about it later. She’s due in October.

    how many blocks should be along the ch66

    • @verandahmeander
      @verandahmeander 4 роки тому

      I count 20 blocks and 3 chain/1 DC at beginning and end or row 1.
      66 - 5 skipped = 61. 61 ÷ 3 (1 3xDC, 2 skipped) = 20 blocks plus 1 chain. The final chain is where a single DC is done before commencing the end section. I got to beginning of virus before I knew I had got the first row wrong. Not happy!
      Using gorgeous yarn but it is terrible for counting chains in that first row. I knew I should do my maths but didn't and had to unpick all that work.

      I would give them if I had them. I’ve never worked it out. I make all my German shells virus patterns by drawing each stitch out on paper with a pencil.
      My written pattern has 3 lengths you can work with. And can come up with more lengths from those I’m sure. Thank you for watching and commenting.
