The Best Question to Ask When Starting a Conversation About God
coldcasechrist...
In this video, recorded at a Fearless Faith Seminar, J. Warner Wallace helps answer an audience question: Is there a brief, effective way to start a spiritual conversation? How can we briefly share the gospel with people?
One of my favorite responses to the Bible being full of errors is, “ You know, I’ve wrestled with some of that myself. Which errors are foremost in your mind?” Their response is almost always crickets 😊😅😂
not only is this a GREAT answer -- it also can communicate care and concern (rather than hostility) with those we're talking with
That’s because they have no idea, they are simply parroting what they heard or what someone else wrote.
This is a great response and shows compassion as Jesus would.
@@DavidinSLOI disagree.
This is an intellectual answer given by intellectuals.
Jesus wasn’t intellectual.
The Pharisees were.
What errors have you wrestled with?
*Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one* - Colossians 4:6
Pray this before speaking to someone
Amen scripture always provides
These guys are great. This is how we should converse. Speak as you know it to be true. There was a Jewish guy named Jesus. He did miracles and claimed to be divine. He was crucified even though he had committed no crime. His followers hid in fear until he appeared to them again. Without his resurrection there is no Christianity. I know he came for me so I want to honour him.
On this topic alone, these guys are great indeed - yet one of them, Dr Mike Adams killed himself in 2020! I just discovered this video today and was researching these guys online as being European, I am not familiar with them. I was shocked and saddened to learn about Dr Adams's suicide. EDIT: I have since learned about his views posted on social media, and while I disagree with many of them, the fact that he clearly wasn't well might explain a lot. May he rest in peace 😔
I find it hard sometimes "converting" Jesus to real life. I know it's a lot of "metaphysics"
I understand if Muslims find it difficult to use the reality in Jesus. There's a lot of parables. Everyone "is Jesus" with God? Eventually. How did Jesus come up. Was he really around? It is great that we have the bible like it is.. it is amazing.
I hope everyone gets to know his love. I'm in love!
Tacitus, Roman historian, speaks of his crucifixion. Josephus, Jewish historian, speaks of him. Paul, an enemy turned "follower" is documented in the ancient world. Christians under emperors Nero and Domitian persecuted and tortured early Christians as enemies of humanity and atheists since they did not serve Roman Gods. The myth is that he is a myth. Look at videos of the Expedition Bible for more historic context.
@@christianprints316That is so very sad about Doc. Adams. I pray he is with our Lord in heaven.
Who knew learning about evangelism can be so fun. Love these men. Thank you Jesus!
Apologetics too!
Love these answers. Adding that a prayer to ask for the right words in any given circumstance is going to give wisdom from the Holy Spirit. It’s a joy to see young people with the desire to share their faith.
I was just thinking about that lately. I've had evangelism trainings in the past and I've always loved to share my faith and my testimony (18 years now!). Recently I've been studying more in depth about the major issues people have against the Bible (slavery, etc) , for my knowledge but also to be able to answer people better. Then I thought, I cannot rely on my own understanding, it's way better to ask the Holy Spirit to know what to answer. I've noticed when I did that lately my answers to them were different than what I would normally have answered. Those answers were as sharp as a double edged sword, instead of engaging in intellectual debates. People didn't answer back...because I believe it went straight to the real issue of their heart and they were left speechless. I was speechless too haha :)
I respect all you guys on that stage....but I am going to offer up what I think, is a much better answer. My answer would be "It's the greatest love story I have ever read" That rocks those who don't know God's word but think they do. And then I quickly include how Jesus loves us more than religion leaders and he proves it! TIME IS UP! :)
I think it's great to see men of this caliber answering these kinds of questions & having fun with each other & the audience as they do it! This, to me, is an evidence to the world that our faith in Christ need not be dry, dark or somber! BTW...I am an ex-Mormon & born again Christian who left the LDS Church in 1985, after converting into it. I had to do much of what is discussed on this channel to discover the truth of Biblical Christianity. Many, like myself, who have left Mormonism have turned to Atheism. I thank God for His grace in my life!
Thank you for that little testimony on your response it made me smile and be happy for you about our Lord ! God bless you !! He is so good ! Beyond measure😊
@zoltan7z7 Thank you for your words of encouragement! If my sharing a little of my background helps someone else or opens a door for discussion, I praise the Lord for the opportunity. May the Lord bless & guide you!
Glory to God in the Most High✨✨✨
@@melissaculpepper7663 Every Muslim, followers of the religion of Islam say this, 34 times a day in the position of prostration. They say in Arabic, the translation which is closest ." GLORY BE TO GOD, THE MOST HIGH ". May GOD guide you to the truth.
Elbert, I know I'm nobody to you, and I have wonderful neighbors that are Mormon. But I am so proud of you that you opened your eyes and have truly been born again.
“ I read the Bible, because I believe it describes the world exactly as it is“
In all of my 40 years being a believer that is the best Response I have ever heard to the question why do you read the Bible? I just wish I had heard this answer years ago. This is my first time on your channel I’ve subscribed I’m hooked
I don't concern myself with "addressing their doubts". I proclaim the gospel, clearly and succinctly, and I have faith that the Holy Spirit will do the "work" of convincing them of the Truth.
Romans says that our conscience tells us that there is God…all of creation confirms that God is God. None are without excuse. It’s a heart issue. Humility is the key to Salvation.
“Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him.”
Dr. Charles Stanley
Agree. I give them the gospel. Then it’s up to them to accept or reject it. We are told to share the gospel. Not judge, condemn, etc… that’s GODS job not ours.
That was my way and is my way. Also, I always go and trusting the Holy Spirit is going to do the work, and I am just obeying God. And I found a lot of success in that.
But you only have 30 secs😂
I love the good hearted banter between Turek and Warner/Wallace/Adams!! Christian Brotherhood is awesome.
This was a great clip, seeing J. Warner Wallace and Frank Turek bounce ideas off one another.
Definitely!
"What do you mean by that?"
"Why do you think it's true?"
Just typing this here so we can remember it. 😊
"What do you mean by that, and why do you think it's true." Brilliant!
I love this video! “So”?! “I think it’s historically accurate”!
So true that we don’t have to convince them of the Bible’s perfection to talk about Jesus!!!!
RIP Dr Mike Adams
Holy spirit gives opportunity because he gives the words...
There is one more simple way. Ask "how many percent of this book did you actually read personally with concentration and without an assumption that it is false?".
Although, whenever I put the burden back on them they unreasonable throw hate or retaliate. The same reaction whenever I prove their claims wrong.
Coming to think about it, that’s still my victory as a case maker.
These men, especially Mr Wallace (because I’ve read his books) help me believe that there’s still a future for Christianity on earth when I’m long gone
They hated jesus(truth) and retaliated by crucifying him.
He said if the world hated him, they would hate you. Your good
But Dennis,is it truly a "victory" for anyone if they continue to be lost?
Wow , all these gentlemen are my all interesting 👌
I love these men of GOD❤❤❤
“We’re outnumbered by crazy” …facts
I just learned that Professor Mike Adams, furthest left, took his own life in July of 2020, after being forced to retire from the college he taught at. Very sad, and a permanent solution to a TEMPORARY problem. I pray Mike is with our Lord in heaven.
The bible has no errors. The more the Holy Spirit reveals through the scriptures, the more evident that becomes.
Ask them, Do you know who said -
“Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it,” and “Without me you can do nothing”.
It was JESUS CHRIST.
While I agree with you, they probably won’t care.
Thanks, those are great scriptures for tracts. His Word won’t go out without fulfilling Gods purpose. Those will hopefully make the ones searching, search deeper.
Walk in the light that you have !!!!!
I wish I could watch this Fearless conference in full and not in short video clips!
"~Can you give me one major Biblical doctrine that has been changed by a transcription error" ? 👍 That's the one I came here for .
The answers are wise and funny, but I just love my sister's beautiful question.
Great question. I asked this same question over forty years ago of a visiting ministry and was mocked, and I never got my question answered. The guy I asked didn't believe there was such a workplace, lol, and yet my question was very sincere. My advice would be to catch up with them with a coffee or meal, build relationship and, as I'm sure this lady does, live out your life in a Christ-like way as much as you know how. Great to hear the variety of answers :)
Wonderful!
I love these guys! Great advise and the way their humor!!
The answer is just wow, definately inspired by the Holy Spirit Hallelujah amen
"when you only have a minute" - perhaps you had in mind a stranger at the grocery store, but for me it's my teenage son 😆
She is so passionate this guy is giving her more time !! Ahahah gotta love Frank !’
Well said and funny 😄 the way you put it in words! Big ❤️!
This was really good and just plain fun to watch and listen to. That aside this was really good advice but it’s hard to witness at times. May we be ready in season and out of season to give a response to this joy that we have in Christ.
This is awesome! Please do more of these sessions! First time I've ever seen one, and one of my all-time favorite Jack hibbs, now y all are. Great answers very much needed. Love you Brothers, stay safe with Jesus! Shalom
It was fun watching this informative and entertaining...
Pray that the Holy Spirit open doors to tell about Jesus. My 3 favorite stories. 1. The Samaritan Woman 2. The Adultery Woman 3. The Woman with the blood issue.
Brilliant.
I think it´s fair to give this point to your fellow conversation partner. Like „Yeah I admit, that there truly are different translations, including interpretations as well. But there is not a single bible in this world without Jesus dying on the Cross for the sins of the world, who ressurected on the third day and went to heaven after forty days and the Holy Spirit comming down to Earth after ten more days.“ Then we can start to talk about Jesus! 🙏🏼❤☺
So many great points were made. Thank you!
This was fantastic! I learned so much from these guys, they are awesome!! Excellent information to use when speaking to others about Christ, The Bible, Christianity, etc!!
Makes my heart swell to see my brothers and sisters who get it.
i totally agree with this man wearing glasses and a black shirt! I,ve always said that. Thank you!
Do you not know that’s Frank Turek? Are you pulling our collective legs?
I really liked the synergy and bouncing off 1 another in this video. Is this part of a longer video.Thanks-I learned a lot...
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16 NKJV)
When addressing the issue of the Bible having errors a question I like to ask is give me your best example. If I can prove that their best example is not an error then it calls into question everything else at the think is in error.
Thankyou for these videos there bringing my confidence back
That was fantastic, and so useful, thank you.🇭🇲
I always say Jesus lives in me and my life is his testimony. Then, I ask the the questioner, you see that, don't you?
I really need to get Greg Koukl's book "Tactics", because you all use the same strategy even though you don't mention him by name. Especially Dr. Turek.
I have had some experience with evangelism /street outreach work
Please prayerfully consider doing this
Having 30 seconds-1 minute of your testimony & some healing miracle testimonies as well
You still have time to get to know the Lord Jesus before its too late. So many people will hear the dreaded words 'I never knew you'.🙏 🙏
It’s true, I surprised a friend of mine when I refer to him to the Qumran rolls. I
you guys make me feel sorry for the atheist. Thank you, this is awesome.
Experience, deliverance, peace, miracles were all the testimonies of the apostles. They didn’t often debate. They showed the gospel
Haha their friendship is so funny. I love their responses.
10 second witnessing. "Will I see you in heaven one day? I'd like to see you there. If you read and follow Romans 10:9, you'll be there."
Ah man this is so good
I love this and really look up to this panel.
Well done!
Excellent!
Awesome guys
I'd just keep it simple by what was suggested. I don't even need 30 seconds. I just need 1 second and 2 words... "What errors?"
I agree with Dr William Craig when he says evangelism is like baseball - we don't always have to hit a homerun. Sometimes our goal is just to move to the next base. I like how Greg Koukl puts it... "Just putting a stone in someone's shoe."
Absolutely love this segment lol. Made me laugh while learning myself haha
Best way to learn!!
Frank doing a superb impression of Gary 😅🤣😂🔥🙏
Thanks for this!
Thank you somuch. Great advice and very concise.
Glad it was helpful!
Why do I read the Bible? Because I know Jesus still lives today and I want to know more about him.
I say "Who told you that? No really who said that, because either that person is mistaken or definitely not your friend."
EVEN with all it's imperfections and contradictions and controversial disagreements, l KNOW this: JESUS is REAL! His POWER transforms! His death was NECESSARY to disconnect us from the MATRIX of this realm in order to transfer us into His OWN. HE has the power and the ability to protect us and to equip us to do His Will while we are here and can guarantee our Salvation. His SPIRIT reveals to us WHO HE REALLY IS!
Except you don’t know scripture well enough to answer this question. You failed in the first 5 words.
There are literally zero “imperfections and contradictions…”(and whatever “controversial disagreements” are…)
Zero. You learn this when you dig into the Word and learn it so that you can give an answer at anytime as God through scripture commands us.
I love the first answer about inviting them into lunch or conversation after. Because what is your purpose in answering at all? To make a disciple and point them to Jesus by letting them discover him or proving what you are doing is the right thing? or even that the bible is right as if it needs defending. Sometimes just standing firm and your answer is your answer is enough. Cause He is enough. He is the stumbling block not His word. That person asked you why you read it, why? You answered. Stand firm that that is enoungh.
sometimes they don't want a debate but rather to see if you really can stand and live in what you believer...period.
I didn’t know you guys hang out! Awesome! Come out to Honolulu & chat with us!
Thank you all
Where can I find this entire speaking engagement? All my favorites on one stage!
Love this!👍🏽
Yea I think it describes the world in the way that it is, ask Frank if he believes in a universe? And where it says that in the Bible? I believe my Bible and ALL of it. And there are waters above us still until our Yeshua Hamashiach comes back.
I throughly enjoyed this panel!
scripture is an earthly artifact that is historical, scientifically and even in grammer and word usage very solid. Across centuries it is thematically and ideologically consistent. In prediction, prophecy and providence it has proven accurate. So is the error on our human understanding or on the subject it applies to. The subject: God is flawless. Even scripture sates our human understanding is the greatest limiting factor of understanding. Thanks for this great content.
✟
The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
Psalms 121:5 (KJV)
"This was a great discussion, you made I great point which I would love to address, but unfortunately I have to go. I hope we chat again. In any case, Here is something for you to think about" - and give them a tract
That is not a good tactic for a skeptic. That sounds like someone who can not defend their beliefs like scripture commands us to be able to do.
This isn’t a belief neutral person. This is someone who already holds negative beliefs.
This one minute or 30 seconds can lead to a longer conversation later. May God redeem each one or half minute. Maybe we can say, "Really? Can you show me one big error? I'm short of time but i really wish we can talk more, if you are keen. To me, the Bible gives me many answers. And i feel this is really important, to you and me, what is right and wrong? What is true and not? If true, please dont miss out on it. And what thing is bugging you? Keep in touch. What about...?"
Amazing!
A simple technique: don't use the word "inerrant," which cues the response "error."
Often times a person’s obituary is written wrong in the newspaper. People will try to get a retraction in order to have it written correctly for the sake of the memory of their loved one. They of course, are charged a fee for the retraction.
Having a printing error in an obituary, does not remove the fact that the person existed.
How many people will have similar, and also different perspectives of events in the life of the person whom the obituary is about? It is possible for the person to have been on a sports team. It is possible for several players from the same sports team, to witness the same event of the person who passed away and how they played the game. it is possible for them to remember different aspects of the game that was played that day. Just because they have differences and how they expressed how the game was played does not mean that the person who passed away never played the game. The fact that you have several different people expressing the historical evidence of the person existing and playing the game Should give cause to an understanding that the person actually existed and did play a sports game. Thus, just because people saw him play from a different perspective during the same game doesn’t mean each persons perspective should be rejected. Rather it shows that perhaps you can learn about that person by reading about the different perspectives of them that other people wrote about.
Told my students for 25 years. The devil and Jesus had a typing/keyboard test (age) devils computer crashed. Jesus was printing, devil said no fair. God said " Jesus saves" works at every grade level especially for business classes 😂
100% they never follow up. There are no flaws in the bible. Took me 33 years to admit that. At best, the only thing that has happened to the bible is removal of some books. The wording is cross referenced with the dead sea scrolls.
Only God could do that!!
Before moving forward with any questions, i ask the critic if they have taken the time to read it yet.
I will usually get a lot of hemming and hawwing, but rarely an honest yes.
Cause at that point, they are working from hear-say
I would say to whomever. Let me ask you. Have you every just looked up at the sun or gaze at the star filled sky or look upon a big green tree or stood in front of the enormous ocean or considered yourself among this marvelous creation and how it all is here and why am I in the middle of it. I suggest you read this book and find out how all things are and why they exist and how am I a part of it all.
Grey rights activist 😂😂😂 man this panel is amazing. God is good!
Does anyone know where I can watch this in full?
If The Father wants them He will give you the words, and if not go to the next one
“Gray rights activist” 😂 Frank Turek cracks me up
The less confrontational, the better. They are looking for a confrontation to begin with. Their goal isn't to learn or have their mind changed. It's to prove you wrong. I believe that stating that is the your world view and, would you show me those errors essentially shuts them down. The point of making a later date/appointment to expand is inviting. They expect pushback. They certainly are not expecting an invitation to coffee.
By the title, I thought it was going to be what's referred to in sales as an "elevator pitch"...the amount of time you've got if you hop in an elevator w/someone & you have basically less than 60 seconds to pitch your business. So as far as WITNESSING goes, the same thing...give s/one s/thing to think about if you don't have time to sit down & witness to them & open up the scriptures.
Do you know Jesus? No, would you like to? Yes 😊
Do not answer a fool according to his folly but answer him as his folly deserves.
Can you name a single doctrine in Christianity that's been affected by transcription error? 😮
Jesus on road to Emmaus first listened to people updating each other on current affairs and Jesus connected their discussions with scriptures to be relevant to their discussions
Very perceptive... The Bible is filled with how God has and will deal with the errors and sins of mankind.
Love how God revealed the Dead Sea scrolls to shut them down!
where can I watch this entire seminar/conference video?
