Vespera PRO or Hestia? 🤔
Neil, you are religious but you just don't know it. In earnest, I don't think you want to know it. Regardless of anything, I love what you do! You are a great educator.
@@tinto278 you can tell by just looking at the pictures. it's not Hestia. And also they mention in the video they used a Vespera.
@@Xer0neman1a How very observant of you Mr Xer One Man 1a... Who named you, a Xerox machine?
@@tinto278 lmao, looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed today. if you had paid tiny bit of attention to the video, you would've realized the answer you looked for was right in there. It's even in one of the timestamp titles. But I guess it's too much to ask for someone who doesn't bother using their brain. Oh wait, my apologies. You probably don't have one to use, since every word longer than 3 letters looks the same to you. 😂
Neil looked like he was tearing up when the eclipse was at peak that really shows how much of a passion he has for space and stuff it got me.
He was, after all this may very well be his final one
@@treyvoidI was just about to say this.
It’s an awe inspiring experience for anyone who sees it. It’s really the most incredible astral phenomenon we experience on earth.
When you trully understand how these phenomena work (the maths, the physics and everything else), it is magnificent to witness them in person, especially when humans have been able to predict them precisely!
Yep
watching neil get super giddy when it got dark was actually wholesome, made him look 50 years younger
I agree. Neil looked legitimately happy and choked up there. Like he was a kid at the planetarium all over again. Goosebumps.
Jesus came and left that day, He will never return again.
Like a kid at Christmas... 😄

Nobody asked for StatTalk Outdoors. But, now I want more.
Yessss!! I loved seeing the Startalk team together and seeing Neil in his element!
More Startalk Outdoors is an excellent idea ☀️✨
Yesss lessssgooo
Shat-talk!😅 He has to have the captain on his show!!!
Yes! I remember watching the episode on Stonehenge and hoping Startalk would feature more outdoor segments.
the eclipse is watching Neil
That’s what I was thinking….the sun put its glasses on ( the moon) to look at Neil because he’s so bright!
Watching Neil getting emotional at the peak of eclipse had me tear up.. ❤
Same, and I saw the eclipse.
Same is a honor for me see him happy

Neil: ‚Hey my name is NDT‘
Eclipse 4D: ‚I‘m inevitable, just some buzzes away‘
NDT:‘Well ok😎‘
2:30 Neil may be a world-class Astrophysicist, but hes still a kid at heart😂😂 “Here’s my laserrr”
How is it people that hate this man. He’s so passionate about astrophysics. It all came out during the actual eclipse. He tried to contain it and was even holding back tears. You cant hate someone who’s THAT passionate about what they do.
He's amazing.❤ people are just bitter.
I almost cried during the eclipse too... it just means we're human...
One or two moments of foot-in-mouth disease over decades of public speaking is enough to turn people I guess. At some point the internet decided correcting and elaborating was arrogant and playful jokes were assumed to be deadly serious. Its a weird brand of anti-intellectualism going on these days.
@Lowekinder I am annoyed how he always seems to talk condescendingly about those of us that are religious (myself included), but I still think he has many good things to say. I just wish he (and others) in the scientific community would realize that those of us that ARE religious can love science just as much as those who AREN'T religious.
@@millmuv I can understand it from a religious perspective, even if I don't personally agree with it he could be more tactful sometimes, but most of the internet hate squad aren't religious.
He (Dr. Neil) was like a 5 year old on Christmas morning, love it 😂
Neil: ‚Hey my name is NDT‘
Eclipse 4D: ‚I‘m inevitable, just some buzzes away‘
NDT:‘Well ok😎‘
Thank you for inviting us to the eclipse party!
StarTalk is my Solar Dimond Ring. Thank you for a long lasting relationship with this channel. Thank you StarTalk for many more years to come.
Neil's voice is perfect for that intro.
I cried watching this. I’m 26 and got to see my second eclipse in Illinois twice. Absolutely beautiful Neil.
watching Neil choke up in happiness during totality shows how much he loves what he does and the universe ! We need more people like him and we all need to become people who learn and grow from them !
and that is a fan’s perspective ! :)
I was EXTREMELY fortunate to have driven my 70 y/o mother and I to Indianapolis, IN from Hampton Roads ,VA to view it. I can’t even begin to formulate the words, to describe being able to share that moment with her and seeing how amazed she was being able to see it!! Her first and my second(2017 first). The 15 hour drive to and from was WORTH IT! PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I witnessed this historical event in Austin, TX, and I do not have words to describe my emotions. I could tell how emotional Neil was, too.
If you know, you know ❤
There ARE no words to describe it. It's an experience that you must experience YOURSELF to know.
Historical? One happened like 8 years ago and another will in 20. Its not that historical
@@TheAcidicMolotovwho’s to say you’ll be alive then? Or any of us?
I was in Zilker park, Austin for the eclipse. Flew all the way from Manchester, UK to see it. Even thought there were clouds blocking the view for most of the eclipse, it was still an amazing experience. Caught a glimpse of the eclipsed sun and the corona too. Looking forward to my next one in Spain, 2026.
We flew with our kids from the UK to JFK on the 4th April 2024, followed the clear skies to Tupper Lake, upstate NY and watched the majesty of this. My second total eclipse after the August 1999 one in Northern Europe. Magical, inspiring and enduring... if you get the chance to witness one of these... Make It Happen!
I also watch the one in France in 1999 , great memories !!! I think there is another one in Spain in one or two years, I hope I will be able to go there. It's something to see at least once in our life, so twice or more is even better 😃
I traveled from NJ to Dallas. The day before the eclipse, the weather was not looking good. My brother found a website that gave us a 'prediction' of cloud cover. We drove 5 hours north east to Mena, Arkansas. We had clear skies the entire time. It was AMAZING!!!! 👍🏿
🙌 I luckily only had to drive from Detroit to Toledo. Clear skies the whole time! #Eclipse_squad
@@StarFox6.4 We stayed home in Metro Detroit and I would estimate the totality was 98-99%. It was really cool. Crazy how the birds quieted down. Luckily, still a little too chilly here for mosquitoes! Glad you were able to see the whole totality, and thank you Dr. Tyson for sharing your passion and inspiring people.
Good weather n snow, hohoho
I traveled about 350 miles from West Texas to Dallas to view the eclipse. Unfortunately, instead of remaining in Dallas proper for the eclipse, I chose to (try to) view it from SouthFork Ranch in Parker, TX, where the exterior footage of the home life of the famous TV show "Dallas" took place. The clouds let us view all of the eclipse EXCEPT for totality, as the thicker clouds decided to start rolling over the view of the sun just about 5 minutes before totality began, and then they got thinner again just after totality!! I was SO bummed!!! The midday darkness was really neat, but to be denied a view of the best part felt rather cruel, especially when people in Dallas proper apparently got to view totality, esp from the Cotton Bowl. Oh, well, it's neat to have the memory of being just a few feet from the famous SouthFork house during the eclipse, and then I got to tour it afterwards!
I drive from Tampa florida to Emory Texas and it was cloudy the entire time except the last 30 mins and it was clear and as soon as totality ended a big cloud came over I got lucky
Can you image, your person astrophysicist narrating solar eclipse on your side! Amazing!
You're right! I wish he could time travel forward and give us a UA-cam video to listen to when it happens
i can image
Because of you, Doctor. I became an astrophysics geek!
Seeing his hands trembling from excitement brought tears to my eyes.
Got lucky to watch this in person, what an amazing event
It was incredible 😢... INCREDIBLE!
It really was. I'm STILL completely blown away.
keep to to ur self
I live in southern NY. I took a trip to upstate NY and was right across the river from you all. Man, the eclipse was wild. I took off from work, let my daughter skip school, and rented a camper. Definitely worth it for this once in a lifetime experience.
We were in Plattsburgh.
@@millmuv Essex/Westport … found a perfect little park with a beach and playground. My daughter spent the entire day outside exploring with the friends she made for the day and had her little mind blown when it was show time.
I had a huge smile on my face just by observing Neil geeking out!
You can just see the happiness in Neil's eyes 🥹❤️
The joy that was radiating from Neil was palpable. Got me emotional.
The talk after the eclipse was phenomenal Neil. Made my heart warm up
I'm in Dallas. The clouds cleared out and we had perfect viewing! It was an amazing once in a lifetime event.
2 to 4 eclipses per year, and full eclipse every 18 months.
Not rare or once in a lifetime.
I've seen 6 so far.
@@or2ak every eclipse is different, it is once in a lifetime every time, and it could be once in a lifetime for @jaygardnertenor, not everybody can afford to travel around the world chasing eclipses.
@or2ak the world is expensive too live in, let alone travel. There are more people struggling to get by now, than there was 50 years ago. So with that, for many people. Traveling is not an option, we're stuck. I live in Texas where we were expecting complete cloud cover. To say I was disappointing would be an understatement, as I would have to wait a long 20 years that I don't know if I could make it to, for the next American eclipse. So for me, this could very well be the only eclipse I see. And I am extremely grateful the clouds stayed away before the end of totality.
@@Zelia_Wolf 👏👏👏👏
@Zelia_Wolf
Yes, I know it's expensive, that's why I gave up on greedy landlords and moved into my car.
Thanx for the heads up though.
For me, that was movie level emotional as I witness Neil deGrasse Tyson ignite with awe and wonder like a cherub at the amazingness of the universe being the universe.
This is so wholesome. Watching Neil in his total element, almost tearing up brought back that day. I was in East Texas, at 60 yrs old, one of the most amazing things I have ever seen!
I had the honor to watch the total solar eclipse in my backyard and didn't have to go anywhere to see it. It was phenomenal to see with my own two eyes. Space is terrifying yet beautiful at the same time and that's what I love about it
Awe
7:00 Gary and Chuck being goofy was too funny cute.🤣👏👏👏💗
Just like Neil and Chuck at 6:05 -- these guys are like the two classmates in school who never misses a chance for causing a bit of fun and (benign) mayhem.
Hahaha I love them all.
I drove 1100 miles one way to watch this eclipse and was absolutely worth it
Neil and team, you're the best! Thank you for all the perspective you have provided me over the years.
Meanwhile here in northeastern Ohio, We didn't have clouds and was clear skies oddly enough. Was completely beautiful. We had complete totality for about 3.5 minutes and was completely night. What was really cool was watching the shadow come from the southwest getting closer to me in the sky. Then all the street lights, and building lights came on as if night. But, it was EERILY silent, no birds, no dogs, cars, nothing. Was beautiful.
I would love to see this high up in the mountains.
The most intense emotional thing I saw in recent times albeit on UA-cam. Thanks Neil! ❤
Watching this and realizing alongside neil. That this may be his final eclipse is truly a haunting feeling. But the fact that he shared it with all of us is truly what makes it special.
What would make you think that? Eclipses happen all the time and he could go to many more. There is nothing requiring him to stay within the lower forty eight states. Neil is a global citizen. I as a poor person living on very low income have that restriction and did not even get to travel for this one so only saw a partial, but Neil is rather wealthy compared to me. Even poor I was planning to travel but had medical reasons to stay here. A cat scan was more important at this time.
Agreed with markpashia. We've been able to cross the Atlantic Ocean in a matter of hours since 1919 (which, perhaps not coincidentally, is also the year radio ceased to be largely a military tool, and became the first true mass media system).
Can he not hop on a plane? There's gonna be like 3 in Spain over the next few years and then in Australia I think
This was better than the eclipse itself.
I need an uncle like Neil to talk for hours about science. I hope my son and daughter will want to talk me about science and life's wonders
I'd absolutely love to have NDT as an uncle as well as David Attenborough.
I cried for 5 days after the eclipse. You can never be prepared for what it can do to you. I felt a connection to the rest of human kind, past present and future, that I never thought possible. Perfection. It was my first, it won't be my last.
You have too many feelings
Amazing moment!! Thanks for sharing. An honor being part of this and share the world with people like you. Imagine if Carl Sagan were here now...
We watched in Indianapolis. It is a humbling and beautiful experience. I was welling up for a good 10 minutes after the eclipse and felt the same emotions again watching this.
You cannot help but love NDT. His enthusiasm for science is truly a gift to us.
We didn't experience the solar eclipse here in 🇳🇬 however, I had goosebumps watching this video. This has to be the best video I've seen so far..it felt like I was there.
Highlight for me tho was when Neil was explaining the direction the drone should capture 😅😅😅 that's legendary ❤❤❤❤❤
Seeing totality was easily the most amazing thing I have ever seen in my life. Can't even put into words what the entire experience is like.
When I saw the eclipse I was acting exactly how Neil was acting during the eclipse. It was such a beautiful moment
Probably the most beautiful video I've ever seen no joke. I hope to be like Neil when I grow up.
I saw it on the shore of Lake Erie just West of Cleveland and it was awesome! Seeing it in videos doesn't do it justice. You have to experience it yourself.
I'm so glad I was able to share this with my children. I'm also glad that they all felt the awe and majesty I've always felt. This is my second full eclipse that I have experienced, and the humbling feeling never changes.
Now THAT is a party I’d love to be at!!! I just love the excitement!!
Saw the eclipse in Jonesboro, Arkansas. It was perfectly clear weather and absolutely gorgeous. Never to be forgotten! I got to see it with a group of fellow artists, so we were watching color and light effects as much as anything else.
I saw the total eclipse twice! In 2017 and 2024 😎
Ohhh, to be there with Neil deGrasse Tyson. His enthusiasm was so heartfelt and wonderful to watch
I live in Springfield MO and we were just north of the best viewing possible, its nice that all mankind could rally together for a moment and just "be" and nothing else mattered for those few minutes, I think thats what I'm going to remember most. Side note, I love this man, he (along with his colleagues) opened my mind in ways that my young closed minded religious self never could have imagined, thank you so very much I can never thank you enough for setting me free. ❤
April 8th, my Solar Eclipse watch birthday 🎉🎉🎉 I wasn't in the path, looking at the partial solar eclipse from Florida. Me and my daughter saw it through the eclipse shades that arrived just in time from Amazon.
My son, his wife and my grandsons viewed it from Georgia. It was AMAZING to know we viewed this once in a lifetime Totality, though we weren't in the path of it.
not sure how old you are, but one will be coming right through MOST OF Florida in 2045. We live in Kissimmee, but we're already making plans to go to just outside of Port St. Lucie to see it on the coast.
Amazingly in Austin and some other places from what i have seen cloudy yes then the skys parted. Eclipse was perfect and completely visible. After it was over, it closed up again. Just awesome, even took the day off to make sure i didn't miss something i waited for weeks to see.
Yup, can confirm. I was in Llano (NW of Austin) with my dad, and the low clouds cleared about 30 minutes before totality. Not two minutes after totality ended, it was completely overcast again.
@@eroraf8637 Haven't heard anyone reference to this yet. I'm kind of curious if being cooler on the shadow path and hot were the sun was still shining had something to do with it because the timing was impeccable. I'd prefer that over calling it a miracle. lol
You can actually hear Neil's heart thumping rapidly when he says "Total solar eclipse" ❤
Neil’s enthusiastic response to the eclipse is everything!
We had clear skies in Evansville Indiana for the Eclipse.
Your Cosmic Perspectives always moves me! We had a nice eclipse viewing party on campus. It’s a pity how 97% totality compares to a 100%. Thank you 1,000% for sharing your eclipse viewing.
We are so Lucky to live today. Know the things we know and revel in it. I have only seen a partial eclipse but after seeing this video plan to go to the North of Spain to see the total Eclipse at 12. August 2026 with a friend. We‘re both arround 70 years old and this is on our bucket list. Your perspective on human perception is beautiful Neil, I love it. Thank you for sharing this goosebump video with us all.
Now that's a party 🎉
Neil invented the eclipse
I live in Mexico and traveled to Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico and traveled from Mexico City to that port to see the Total Solar Eclipse just like Neil I cried and screamed with excitement and joy
Pretty much every time you see Neil, he is aware of being in front of a camera or a crowd and his mannerisms and manner of speech is different. To see him talk and share when he’s not “aware” of the camera, and to see his emotion and excitement is really cool to see.
Is it physics-ly possible to teleport?
Superposition is one of the fundamental concepts of quantum physics, which suggests that a quantum system can exist in multiple states at the same time, until it is observed and its wave function is "delivered" to a particular state.
It would be amazing if my new song "Telefone" go viral, can you help?

Wow Dr. Tyson I am I'm tears. I cried when the solar eclipse actually happened too. I just felt so grateful to be able to be a part of such an amazing cosmic event. And you always make things so much more interesting and more valuable. I also realized we may not have been in the same state because I was in Ohio. But I was on the same earth as you were when that happened. I know it may not have been exactly the same time and maybe even a few hours apart. But I still got to watch the same cosmic event that Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson did. And that was something amazing I'm itself.
Saw the total eclipse in July 1972 at the age of 8 in the Canadian maritimes. I'm so happy to have been here to see another one, this time in northern Maine! I'm glad I wasn't the only one who teared up a little when I saw the totality! Thanks for sharing your viewing Neil!
Amazing to see neil shaken like that by an eclipse!
You have this much passion about anything in this universe, and tell me if you won't excel in that thing.
Damn, my eyes teared up watching how Neil was happy seeing this amazing phenomenon.
The things I would do to view an astronomical event like this with Neil deGrasse Tyson as he explains everything going on as it's happening. I know a lot about astronomy myself, but this would just be simply the pinnacle. Amazing video! Neil and congratulations for just earning another subscriber!
I drove from Atlanta to Burlington Vt to witness my second total eclipse. I almost cried myself. 70 year old man. Worth the 2500 mile round trip. By the way I drove my 2022 MODEL Y PERFORMANCE. No problems charging.
His passion for Astronomy is infectious. I get very emotional when witnessing such events, or simply looking at the stars at night. Our attempts at understanding our vast universe will never stop till humanity exists
This is awesome. I went to watch the eclipse in northeast VT myself. To know Neil wasn't far away watching it as my wife, my 4 year old daughter, and myself were at the same time is pretty awesome. I was lucky to enjoy the eclipse at totality, and get a couple awesome pics with my wife's camera as well. It was amazing.
Total Solar Eclipse is coming to South Africa is 2030. Cannot wait to see it live💯 May God protect us all.
Watching Neil DeGrass Tyson geek out over an eclipse is awesome. I've often wondered if astronomers and astrophysicists get excited about these kinds of things like so many of us. Cool beans. And yes, I geeked out over it, too. 😁
11:23 "the total Solar Eclipse". The way he said it just gave me goosebumps 🥹
I was also in Vermont, it was my first and closest to where I live. I now want to use my time to witness it elsewhere. It was an amazing experience.

So cool! Neil narrating the eclipse in real-time is iconic lol. I watched it in Chicago at 94% totality, went wild about how eerie it looked. I could only imagine what 100% totality was like. Breathtaking 🌄🌌
Hello all...if anyone reads this post let it be known that, at age 64, your video is helping me feel piece and confidence in our place in the Universe. Ty Dr. Tyson and Lord Knight for all you do.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen that pure of a look of “blown away” on someone’s face, and I don’t think I realized how crazy you are about the universe and the way it all works, until that moment where you started clapping there at the end. Neil sir you are a treasure
I love to see how happy he gets when he talks about science. Keep up the knowledge! Thank you!
We saw it 12 miles to the wast of Killeen, TX. The clouds broke up so we saw most of the partial phases and all of totality. I used my Celestron 8” scope with my Canon EOS Ra camera. I got over 1500 photos through all the phases plus photos with my Sony a7ii, my Canon 60Da, and my Fujifilm XS-20. I prayed to god that it would clear up and it did. I never put on my eclipse glasses because I was to busy taking photos. I definitely looked at it when it was total. Oh, what the heck I am from Krypton. Lol.
I saw this eclipse from the middle of nowhere Indiana and it was majestic! Its really something everyone should see at least once in their life, truly.
I also traveled to northern VT. I ended up 50 miles NE of where Neil was, in a little town called Orleans, 20 miles from the Canadian border. Clear skies and 3.5 minutes of totality! Awesome.
