I think when Nomura says ordinary boy he means Sora ain't gonna be someone like the master of masters or the child of prophecy type of scenario which many KH theorista proclaim him to be. We also overlook the fact that while Xehanort was young he had connections but at old age he abandons them and creates artificial ones by only having versions of himself in the organization taking the " I only trust myself" type of thing EXTREME so he doesn't have any real connections at that point in his life anymore. Sora did that is why he prevails
The thing that makes Sora so special is that openess. The heart is canonically made of memories and those memories are what connect people. He's not the chosen one. Not in the sense of having a destiny anyway. He wasnt chosen by the Keyblade because of what he is but because of who he is. His greatest strength is how genuine he is. He is unabashedly himself with no irony. Kingdom Hearts is entirely sincere. There's not a spec of irony. Thats what I love about it. In a world where everyone and everything is irony poisoned Kingdom Hearts is sincere and unabashedly its self. There are little to no jabs about things being silly or "isn't it silly that his weapon is a big key?" I think that's what draws me to the series. Its emotionally honest. Things arent always logical but they feel right.
I'm not sure if I ever discussed this outside some voice chats. Dull, ordinary boy could be more about the perception of what he expected. Several times, Sora should failed and succeeded further than anyone would expect. Ansem, Seek of Darkness, should have destroyed Sora in their first encounter. Xemnas could have seemingly overpowered Sora as well. However, Sora makes it past all these challenges, but not unscathed. It either points to one of two things. Either Sora is a powerhouse wrapped in an unassuming package or people misjudge him because he stands next to people like King Mickey and Riku. King Mickey is obvious, but Riku is taller and looks much more troubled and intimidating because of it. I think its because Sora is an unassuming package.
Maybe it's simple. His friends are his power. Emotions and hearts are powerful in kh so perhaps even though Sora is ordinary he is just the right kind of person to thrive and prosper in the situations he is thrust into. Plus he either was given the ability to wield a keyblade before kh 1 or perhaps he was so good at making friends that he befriended rikus keyblade before it showed up and that is why it went to him. He made friends so good that he was able to get a keyblade to bequeathed itself to him
@@glitchyfox8706 I wasn't even going to get into the Kingdom Key. I don't think ordinary is the right ball park for Sora. I think he is too strong and too open to other's pain to be ordinary. The series time again have proven he is anything but ordinary.
With how much Sora learns and become real good at combat, sword fighting and magic in such a short time for every game when he was just an Islandeer where they all learnt to fight on their own ? He is defintly a powerhouse in an unassumed package 😄
The simple fact remains, that looking out for other people, means that they’d want to look out for you in turn (maybe not always, but those qualities would stick with them). Sora and characters like him show how impactful that care towards new and old friends can be overall.
Dark Road implanting the idea of a 14th life for Xehanort is exciting in my opinion. It’s been alluded to through his interactions with the Destiny Island trio that he’s unofficially their Master in toxic, twisted ways. Who better to help Sora against the Master of Masters than the one person aside from Luxu to have knowingly interacted with them last?
...I don't usually comment (also apologies, as i found this video rather late), but the way Xehanort was described in this video made me think of a quote from another video, used to describe one of the main antagonists of Honkai Impact 3rd (a man named Otto Apocalypse, a tragic character, a foil to the protagonist and someone who manipulated nearly the entire world for his own ends-), the quote reading as follows; "He believed that love and emotional bonds could evoke miracles, but he never respected nor honored them." ...And, i mean, if that quote isn't Xehanort in a nutshell, i do not know what would be (shoutouts Just a Pancake-). It makes it even more gratifying that Xehanort, of all people, is the one to finally, officially bequeath Sora the Keyblade at the end of KH3, even if more so symbolically, as he had never gone through the ceremony like Riku had. It's one of the coolest scenes in the game, at least imo. (Apologies for the late, and long comment once more. lmao)
Also, the alternate scene where the wielders of the past and Ephemer helped him fight the wave of darkness; he even pulled us (the players) with Ephermer from a past era to assist in that fight. Yes, the scene that felt like Deja Vu.
I'm so happy one of my twitter mutuals retweeted this video so I could find it! Your art and lighting is so good and I can't wait to see more analysis vids in the future!
I interpreted Xehanort's words as less of a critique and more of an acknowledgement. Xehanort is very good at reading people even when he looks down on them. He definitely underestimated Sora up until Sora wiped the floor with him, but I'm nearly certain the reason Xehanort wanted Sora as a vessel (even if only as a spare) was the potential Sora has. Also, something that I'm not sure is true ( I haven't gone into research on it at least) is that Xehanort too is a blueblood, in that he's related to Ephemer, just as Eraquis is related to Brain. I heard it said from HMK and that guy does research these things but I'm not sure if it was said in an interview or somewhere else in the games.
I feel like sora is a shepherd and xeanort is a farmer and there ideas class but opening the door is what they both kinda can do exclusively like there 2 sides of the same coin sora is opining the door for us all to step through and not is just for him all for 1 1 for akl
Sora was called Dull and ordinary and Izuku Midoriya was called plain and doesn't stand out. 😂 Protagonist heroes doesn't get any respect. Shit Spider-man has it the worse of all. Never be a hero guys.
Omg omg I like you so much this is fun and cool and interesting and I should be talking about the lore but I love your art so much. I want stickers and a print where pls
Litle correction. Xehanort tecnicly was also a Blueblood as he was From Scala. He just didnt knew. I think the CoD destiny is a Anomaly becaus it changes Shape everytime you see the future and with every decision made. Xehanort might have been that child at some pointbut ultimatly he wasnt becaus of A his superiarity complex and B MoM interfering . It ended up beeing Sora by Chance. Like the Keyblade he earned the Titel and fullfield the Story becaus of his Connections and Will to Help others
His friends are his power which is true to his Sora but I wouldn’t say it’s the same for most people he considered as friends. Maybe an exception is Riku, Kairi, Donald and Goofy.

No, Sora isn't an ordinary boy. Also, it's very likely Xehanort is still alive, in a reincarnated way. The dent that would put to Sora's mental health... I look forward to it a little too much. But he keeps repressing so much ! I don't know what else would get him to express himself anymore ! Ideas ?
Remember this.. Sora is the child of Xehanort and his realization confuses him as to what we will get the precursor in kh4. If Sora didn't fulfill his birthright he would've killed Sora. Do think that Sora is the only one that weilds a keyblade. He is OUR protagonist. Yozora is sora child... whether directly or indirectly. The same for Sora.
@darkscoutergamer6168 No Sora is either the madter of masters or the son of the master of masters...because.... this is not click bait because I could care less. Hmu if you want endless content about KH. I have enough to supply 10 kids lol.

I like that scene in kh3 with sora and kairi flying because that’s what happened in kh1 when she shared her grandma memories with sora from deep sleep

Hm, nicely done Analysis, it seems about right, i wonder how things will develop with KH4.
Xehanort first bestowed Darkness on Sora through his soul then Light through the ceremony of giving him the X Blade at the end of KH3
