+Paraguas Reloj Was about to comment something about that, you can see how many times she looks up like she is thanking god for giving her that great gift, after the song, not like many people do just show off, she turned around clapped for the musicians because she knows that without them she probably wouldn't have performed that good, and then looks back at the audience clapping and thanking them for supporting her, to be honest, I thank god too for giving her that gift, because I would've missed a lot without her music.
Nick Mortola this is the most beautiful pure thing I've seen in a while I believe in God too & love him just as she does & as I love Him I love Her too she's unreal 😪😍
November 19 2011. I was in the audience, never heard of this woman, the moment she opened her mouth I fell in love with her and her music. Been a fan ever since
I was locked up!! I had 1 demand and it was to watch SNl. When this came on I was the only one out watching....as a trustee. Noone wanted to watch SNL in jail. Lol. I swear I passed away the old me during that moment in time. It was meant to be!
I remember reading this comment when I first watched this video in 2015 when I was struggling with addiction and it made me laugh. This song has so much meaning to me and help me fight the battle I was in at the time and I'm proud to say I just celebrated 5 years clean but I still come back to this song from time to time because the nostalgia is so strong and what a strange feeling it really is to be be happy and sad at the same time. Anyways I just wanted to say how awesome it is that a simple comment like this can be seen and then revisited years later, it just adds to the nostalgia.
You can really see how much Florence enjoys performing. I love her because few artists are so evident in their enjoyment of what they do. You never doubt it with Florence, she loves every second of it.
We saw her perform last night in Barclays center in Brooklyn NY and Florence and the Machine and had the entire city on a levitated euphoric frenzy state!!! She has that aura about her to soulfully touch your soul.
I was at the show on the 15th and the show was amazing. She always has so much energy and charisma it just makes you want to get up and sing/dance/etc. She has such a commanding stage presence and interacts with the crowd so well, it all flows really well together.
Florence went through a lot of things in her life, but still most of her songs are upbeating and cheerful. This woman is a gift to our fucked up world.
what were the things that she had gone through if you don't mind me asking. i like her so much that i want to know even just a little about her. please don't tell me to google her. i don't mind having a little interaction with a person online. thanks:)
+Kevin Blank couldnt agree more when I feel shitty, Florence makes me smile again, not only her voice and her music but her personality when she feels comfortable out of her shell speaking, and even when she's shy she still makes me smile bottom line is shes perfect
I don't understand the 200+ dislikes? Even if someone isn't into the music, how could you not be moved by the passion in Florence when she's singing? It's rare in the music industry to find true artists, and she stands out for sure.
Don't worry, these are the real performers of today who doesn't need help with tricks and flashy things to distract the people from their singing.... so let the auto tune performers stay locked up in their towers, I am sure they wouldn't risk getting caught lip syncing in public.
Lord Farquaad McMaster Again, read above. I have no doubt there are younger people that love Florence. Wasn't my point. How many people your age love her as much as you do? Do even half of your peers listen to her and love her?
For those who say she is an one hit wonder, she's not. She has two or three albums out. This song is off of the last album, and the dog days are over was from off of the one before that. So she has been around for a few years!!!!
c gi Yes I can still comment. I know she has more than one album out, but I am not sure exactly how many. I know of two of them, but she can have more. Please, take your attitude, and go somewhere.
2019 here. She definitely isn't a one hit wonder. She's still rocking and has gotten to participate in blockbusters such as Snow White & the Huntsman or Game of Thrones! A really talented singer.
Seriously all these years after discovering Florence, I still feel like I’m looking at a spiritual being. Watching her gives me that knot in my throat and makes my eyes water 🥺 Just incredible.
That's how she sings? So just, like... off-key, flat, and all over the place? She shouts too much to compensate. Not a great performance vocally, don't really know what some of these comments are talking about.

I've watched this probably 100+ times because it's so good! The part I love the most is Flo's gratitude for the choir behind her. They were having a blast and spot-on with the performance. So fun to watch !! 💗
+Līga Garkalne Unfortunately, she is really underrated. The only reason she headlined was because Foo Fighters pulled out since Dave Grohl broke his leg. So they moved FATM's spot up, making them headline.
Love this song, I suffer from depression and anxiety.. Florence's music helps me get through the dark times.. I just love her so much 💕 she's just amazing
I just love this song and i love how she's singing it from the soul, she's feeling it. This song has a very deep meaning for me and really helped me through my depression :)
First heard this song when it was featured in HIMYM, fell in love with it because it has that vibe that I can't explain. Came here to listen to it again, and this version even has more of the vibe. She is amazing! She has this aura around her that seems so zen but also dark at the same time which is also apparent to the song.
You can tell she is just ad libbing and having fun at the end...you know, after holding a note steady with a crescendo for 10 seconds a few measures back. Florence is a goddess, a vocal and lyrical goddess!!
I'll always prefer the studio version of that monumental song, but this may be her best performance of the song on stage. I love how she always looks like she's singing with God. She could be a guru. In any case, it's what makes her lives that efficient : her voice plus her stratospheric stage presence.
I’ve watched this many times over the years. I like how much she smiles during this. She was sent into having a “signature look” or any BS. She is truly gifted with that voice.
This performance changed my life. Honestly. I haven't seen it since it first premiered on SNL, but I'm so happy I found it tonight. This performance changed my life. I had the devil on my back, and I shook him off! Within two months of viewing this, my new life began. Thank you for reading.
The moment I saw Jason Segel I thought about Marshall Eriksen and when he said "Florence and the Machine" I just couldn't stop laughing "Marshall vs. The Machines" 😂 HIMYM ❤❤❤❤
When I'm down, when I can't see any hope in this damn world I keep coming here and hell if she is not capable of making any soul see some light, lift some spirit up. Thank you Florence
Okay it is impossible to believe that 232 people didn't like this...Amazing powerful voice, Live no lip sync, no auto tune, PURE POWER!!! Amazing vocal range and something positive to say in her music. Those 232 need to clean their ears and try again.
The look on her face as she sings is just filled with soo much joy and with a freedom like bliss as she opens her self up, her performance and smile is just absolutely stunning.
6/2/2020 Still watching! I came back to watch, needed to see some class. This woman should've blown up with a voice like that. When she hits that high note with that slight laugh on her face like people just have no idea just how high I can go like she's not even trying. It's like a superpower.
Dear Florence, you are amazing, you are one of the best out there if not the best, your personality, your voice and your face, you are amazing, you are not a show off like most singers currently are, I can't believe how underrated you are, you deserve a lot more than you have right now, and Florence, if I ever get to meet you, I would be the happiest person on earth, because you seem like a great person, and your songs have helped me a lot throughout the time, I can't even explain over a little paragraph, have a great life Florence, you deserve it.
This song touched me on a personal level, and to me it's a bittersweet song about personal change. Watching her sing this with a big smile didn't change that, but made me more optimistic about the future. Life is nuts.
I love how Jason Segel introduced Florence + The Machine. It brings back memories from How I Met Your Mother. “Shake It Out” was used during the show and it’s somehow tied down to Jason (as Marshall Eriksen)
the power and just amazing drive behind her vocals are just.....i cant even put it in to words.her talent is a gift to the world i hope she keeps creating music and never stops
This song got me through a hard breakup right before I was set to run a marathon. I remember playing this on my iPod during the marathon as I was in my last 3 miles. It helped me keep running and cross the finish line and I'm so grateful for this woman ❤️
Power lyric, power vocal, powerful bond with her orchestra…LOVE Florence + The Machine. As for Florence Welch herself, I call her “The Queen of Vocals.” She definitely owns up to her name.
I don't know where I was 12 years ago but I didn't listen to Florence. Though, in the past week I've endlessly listened to this song and rolling Florence playlists everywhere I go on repeat. I got obsessively hooked with her voice and being. It's a shame I might never be on a live concert of her because I don't see she perform live anymore.
It might just be me not watching a lot of live performances but.. i don't think I've ever seen an artist even half as talented as her just applaud their bg singers.. i was absolutely amazed when she just turned around and she smiled at them and started applauding them.... fucking hell her performance was absolutely impecable, NO DAMN MISTAKE, it was even better than the original... I swear to God she just radiates happiness around her, she gives me the best vibe I've ever got from a song or an artist. She sang this with so much emotion and dedication, I never thought I could see somebody so devoted to what they're doing, we don't deserve her... she seems so humble and sweet. Please give Florence a grammy... she deserves it more than anyone out there...
Professor Rakan then you've not seen many live performances...many artists applaud for their band and back-up vocalists...and this was not impeccable...she has a powerful voice and is a passionate performer, but she was very pitchy thru most of the song
I don't know why, but I've always associated the band with The Hunger Games, and often when I re-read the books I'll put them on. Somehow, the band seems fitting to the books, both the lyrics and the vibe.
Okay, so did anyone else's hair stand up at 3:15? Florence is just phenomenal. I always just laughed at all the silly comments that said "I got chills" because it just seemed so stupid and they honestly just seemed like they were just attention-seeking. While I'm still probably right about most of them, I can actually say now that I might have come as close as I possibly can to have gotten chills. Florence is a powerhouse and the fact that she isn't a common name in music is one of the most depressing things in music. She deserves the platinum awards, the Hollywood stars, the Rock and Roll hall of Fame (well, in a few years I guess lol, like 15 years?), having four songs on the Billboard top 100. You get the gist. But she doesn't. Why? Who messed up? Her publicists? Her record label? Who dropped that ball? I don't know, I just want more Florence and the Machine!!
+Soul I've seen many of her live performances, she doesn't do the vibrato in every single line. But this performance has a lot of it, which isn't so in the case of the studio version either. Besides, the SNL stage is known to make many singers nervous.
+Anagha Menon I agree with Soul, she sings like this in a lot of performances, even if she's not nervous at all. But you can tell she's nervous here, and she may be a little out of tune at the beggining. A wonderful performance, it makes me so happy.
No one can sing "what the hell" more beautifully than her.
🙌
Nick Peterson Yeah I think avril lavigne has been surpassed.
Well Amaia sang this song better than florence... and I actually like Florence also...
You never heard Kelly Clarkson sing it. Kelly's voice is stronger and just sounds better
Who knows.... loads still singing ^*^?!¿¡ ♡♧◇♤ ¿¡?!^*^
She claps for all the band at the end even though her voice is the main focus. such a humble person
Fsgk Oprhan that's what you're supposed to do as a performer. Always thank the band.
She doea that all the time even at her live concerts she asks the crowd to applaud the band or orchestra
without the band she’s nothing but a voice. I’m sorry but the band is a very important element
That amazing grin on her face the whole performance, I love her so much.
Nick J she loves her God...you can see it on her face and faith.
+Paraguas Reloj no.
+Paraguas Reloj Was about to comment something about that, you can see how many times she looks up like she is thanking god for giving her that great gift, after the song, not like many people do just show off, she turned around clapped for the musicians because she knows that without them she probably wouldn't have performed that good, and then looks back at the audience clapping and thanking them for supporting her, to be honest, I thank god too for giving her that gift, because I would've missed a lot without her music.

wow you saw one of the best live performances there was or will ever be.
I saw her in like 2012, best concert I ever been too.
I'm so jealous. Would love to see her live.
Same for me except I wasn't there, just happened to be watching that episode.
I was locked up!! I had 1 demand and it was to watch SNl. When this came on I was the only one out watching....as a trustee. Noone wanted to watch SNL in jail. Lol. I swear I passed away the old me during that moment in time. It was meant to be!
Our souls are in harmony. Speaks to me like no other
😯
lets just go ahead and pretend she needs that microphone
I logged in to UA-cam to leave a comment to this good Sir. You're right!
Five years later and your comment still rings true.
Jajajajaja. I laughed so hard.
Lol that made me laugh out loud. Nice one.

I saw the show last weekend in Chicago (Tinley Park) and it was very emotionally charged. My heart was engaged the entire time. She's incredible.
+Jill Benzaquen FATM Global love!

I was at the same show. Flew all the way up from Fl to see the NY show (saw her in Orlando too). AMAZE!
Still makes me smile how she actually claps for the people behind her. So sweet and humble
I ALWAYS SEE YOU GURLLLL WTH
I can see why she named her first album lungs.
I think she has a third one.

Stormforce VII I laughed so hard at your comment I think I have one less now

Vincere ahhaha true
Her voice... makes me happy. It's gorgeous.
Florence went through a lot of things in her life, but still most of her songs are upbeating and cheerful. This woman is a gift to our fucked up world.
+Kevin Blank 100% true my friend.
agreed

@@euricequeen842 4 years later, oh well---she had issues with alcohol when she was younger, I know that much.
How can you be nervous, smiling, happy and singing loud and perfectly enjoying every second at the same time? wow!
How does she sing that beautifully so effortlessly???
Never heard someoen sing "What the hell" so beautifully
She sings with so much delight, like she is just so honored to be there! Thank you for sharing your wonderful voice with us, Florence! Great music
In my humble opinion, Florence Welch is possibly one of the best female vocalists in this lifetime!
YES Florence and Sia are the best :)
I whole heartedly agree. I often think Angels must sound like Her and Kate Bush.
Yes. Monica Naranjo and florence are the best ones!
Agree
ElenaM shut up
I don't understand the 200+ dislikes? Even if someone isn't into the music, how could you not be moved by the passion in Florence when she's singing? It's rare in the music industry to find true artists, and she stands out for sure.
What do you want to bet that a majority of those dislikes are from people under the age of 21?

Ryan Beaty I love Florence. I'm under 20. Florence has an amazing voice.
Lord Farquaad McMaster Again, read above. I have no doubt there are younger people that love Florence. Wasn't my point.

+, quite a few "hits" on both albums.
she has 2 or 3 albums??? really you have no idea but still comment??? she has 2...and working on 3....and a few years....more than a few
c gi Yes I can still comment. I know she has more than one album out, but I am not sure exactly how many. I know of two of them, but she can have more. Please, take your attitude, and go somewhere.

Same. 💚
True
Sometime I feel in the mood and get stuck in their live performances…hypnotizing
The voice of an Angel..👼
this whole video is just a holy experience. i feel so much better after hearing this.
Bless her, you can hear the nerves in her voice and she's smiling despite it. I'll never stop loving FATM!
She has that beautiful, fast vibrato too.
Asif Khan she's not nervous? That's how she sings.
That's how she sings? So just, like... off-key, flat, and all over the place? She shouts too much to compensate. Not a great performance vocally, don't really know what some of these comments are talking about.
she did it on purpose. most of her performances in live sounds like this. But, the most important thing here is that she is an artist and a storyteller. She is truly one in a billion.
@@ryandavis2775 thematically relevant, she’s flawed, but powerful. Her voice reflects that.
It’s so endearing that you can hear and feel everything Florence is thinking or feeling when she sings. Even if her performance isn’t “technically on point” it’s still such a moving performance
i think she's one of the best singers I've ever heard in my life

+spawnkiddo That outfit is Balmain S/S 2012. I'm guessing around $20k depending on how the sequence was done. If it was hand done, probably more. The lines are signature Pierre Balmain and should be able to be spotted from a mile away.

Balmain, no ?
Oh, I see someone is even more precise than me :p

SHE IS SO NERVOUS HERE I LOVE IT OMG SO CUTE fetus Florence
+t starr I agree, very nervous! I think this show makes many artists very nervous (I've heard)
+t starr nervous and VERY HAPPY, that's why this is my favorite performance, so cute!
+Desert's Flower IKR! She's such a doll :')

She's a fucking boss
she smiles all the time while singing. She knows she made it!!
One of the most talented singers who has ever been on that show is nervous? Imagine that!
ImTotallySummer there are a few artist out there who actually suffer from severe stage fright Dave Matthews is a prime example of this
I've watched this probably 100+ times because it's so good!
The part I love the most is Flo's gratitude for the choir behind her. They were having a blast and spot-on with the performance. So fun to watch !! 💗
Florence's vibrato is a thing of magic
It sure is
I love Florence she is one of the most underrated artist. And she has a beautiful voice along with Kat Dahila
+Jaira Jackson I dont think she's underrated. She was the headliner at this year's Glastonbury!
+Līga Garkalne Unfortunately, she is really underrated. The only reason she headlined was because Foo Fighters pulled out since Dave Grohl broke his leg. So they moved FATM's spot up, making them headline.
I love how Jason Segel was the one who did the introduction for the performance, and how this song was featured in HIMYM. Coincidence?
touchmenot films it's also what he says that sparks the whole song scene.
touchmenot films right!!! She has a voice
I was just watching that episode and Shazamed this song then I saw him at the beginning of this. Tripped me out for a second.
He is no Jason, he is Marshall
What is HIMYM?
Unbelievable, unparalleled, unbeatable, Florence.

I love the girl in the back nodding her head and genuinely appreciating Florence.

The only vocalists who can genuinely send shivers down me in a good way when she sings. She is really something special.

She was amazing, but I just could not take my eyes off that guitar player, he is so HOT!
INKMNNNNOOOOOOWW RIIIIGGGHHHTTT!!!!! ROBERT ACKROYD!
NumaticVacuum Meeeeeeeh.
NumaticVacuum yup.
NumaticVacuum Plenty of eye candy for all because I get hypnotic looking at Florence. I didn't even realize there was a guitar player
+NumaticVacuum I don't know how she manages to keep their relationship platonic.
She is perfection! Blessed be Florence and the Machine.
What the hell never sounded so lovely. What the hellllllllllllll
Rod Spear the acoustics at that studio weren't originally for snl but for an orchestra!
Legs for days... God bless this beautiful creature.
Simply hypnotized! An eternity that lasts sublime 4:30min
Power lyric, power vocal, powerful bond with her orchestra…LOVE Florence + The Machine. As for Florence Welch herself, I call her “The Queen of Vocals.” She definitely owns up to her name.
I love how she leaves off with "what the hell what the helllllll"
The SNL PUBLIC CLAPS LIKE NEVER BEFORE
Would you say they clapped back? 😂
Imagine if Florence and the Machine did a song for the next hunger games album. It would be epic!!!
YES OMFG
We all have a hunger 🤔
I don't know why, but I've always associated the band with The Hunger Games, and often when I re-read the books I'll put them on. Somehow, the band seems fitting to the books, both the lyrics and the vibe.
Damn, 2021 and I'm still in love with this song!!
seeing her in a few hours!!!!! I CANT WAIT!!!
Can’t but tear up with her voice!
She's so nervous, her voice is shaking, but she STILL nails the performance! QUEEN!
+Anagha Menon uuuuh no,that's an effect, she does that in nearly every song
+Soul I've seen many of her live performances, she doesn't do the vibrato in every single line. But this performance has a lot of it, which isn't so in the case of the studio version either. Besides, the SNL stage is known to make many singers nervous.
+Anagha Menon I agree with Soul, she sings like this in a lot of performances, even if she's not nervous at all. But you can tell she's nervous here, and she may be a little out of tune at the beggining. A wonderful performance, it makes me so happy.
