So beautiful, cant believe this was released in 1982. Actually fantastic. Score by Vangelis just made it even better.

That opening with Vangelis was soo amazing to me. I couldn't recognize anything that would resemble Los Angeles lol. It goes to show how far industry, science, and corporate power have swallowed up the land. No trees or animals in sight. Probably extinct. Which would explain the artificial animals.

This statement always irritates me. For one: what's the point in choosing between practical sets/drawings or CG if the goal is the same? Secondly, CG takes talent too. A computer can't do it without the artist and the artist needs experience. Nostalgia is the root of so many problems in life, I swear.

@@r.jclark4641 I think the point is, for example if you need smoke you can simulate this using a particle system - or just use smoke. Our reliance on CGI is still far too heavy in capturing a sense of atmosphere, even in 2049 for example.

Interesting points about this being a vision of the future.
    - Its full of neon light displays. Neon lights are currently being phased out and replaced by LED's.
    - The window at 0:44 is full of CRT televisions. They have long been replaced by Digital TVs'
    - There is not indication of an internet. Dekkard is still using a newspaper for information.
    - There are flying car presumably using a form of eletrogravidic propulsion that we don't even know is possible.

    • @then00brathalos
      @then00brathalos 2 роки тому +10

Neon light had been outdated. Still some places still use it for the aesthetics. It's also possible that it is a led strip that's rigged to look like neon.
Newspapers are still very popular media choices for many. Even in today
These films are made with the imagination of the future based on what they had back then.

I like the interplay between Deckard, the Sushi Master, and Bryant. Obviously the Sushi Master speaks to Deckard in Japanese at first, telling him a seat has opened up, welcoming him, asking what he wants, and then telling him two is enough. It's the three-way translation that I like. The Japanese will often speak to you initially through a third person to avoid being direct. It's called 'Dai San-sha' (Third person) in Japanese. This exchange is very like that, and just seems so authentic for the setting.

Many other languages have similar constructs. That you talk to another person in the second person plural to be polite, as the other person would be a group of people. For example German and Spanish and Finnish.
This also happened in English, but to the extent that the second person plural became the second person singular. "You" originally referred to a group of people. The singular form is "thou". But people kept talking politely in second person plural, so the plurar form "you" replaced "thou".
Like you can say "thou are stupid" of a single person, but not of a group of people. But you can say "you are stupid" of a single person and of a group of people, since it originally referred to many people.

    If anyone's wondering:
1:37 Héj, figyu má / Hey, listen up
(He could also be saying "Héj, figyu van" which is basically the same)
1:42 Azonnal kövessen engem, bitte / Follow me immediately, bitte
(Bitte is obviously "please" in german)
1:52 Lófaszt, nehogymá! Te vagy a blade runner / Bullshit, no way! You are the blade runner
