You know…I’ve wondered about that. I’m in a smallish town and I don’t ever remember those funeral flags being on cars. Of course, I always pull over when I see Police..Hearst..Family car etc. But nowadays most cars have daytime running lights so it becomes difficult to figure out who is in line. ✌️

Its called come on vacation leave on probation. I would pick up my son who worked in a bar and watch the show.

As soon as they get through the intersection they turned the lights off. I was turning right onto the same road, and ended up right behind them. Turns out we were going to the same place…McDonald’s. It was around 10:00 pm. Part of me wished I had saved that clip to my computer 6 years ago. It’s illegal for emergency services to run their lights and sirens when it’s not an emergency.

Cops don’t always use their lights when responding such as to domestic violence calls. (See pizza order calls) but while responding they may use their lights and sirens during certain situations such as during traffic or crossing intersections for safety. There’s no law saying a cop must always have lights and sirens the whole way responding to a call. As long as they do not pose a serious risk to motorist, which in the middle of night with no traffic is not really a risk
yep they do 3rd shift on a bridge reconditioning project by me. much safer. less impact on traffic when they have to choke the interstate down to 1 or 2 lanes
#5 - 2:18: The cop continues to haul even after turning off his lights. I am pretty sure that he did not use his lights just to run the light. I understand that running with a siren at night can be a problem, but they should keep the lights on whenever they are speeding.
If he's going to a robbery in progress then they leave sirens and lights off so as not to alert the robbers. It makes it easier to catch them if they aren't running away before you're even out of the car. Also I don't know about cops, but in my town if the fire engines are going through a residential area at night they'll leave the siren off so as not to wake anyone up.

I do know a few cops and they agree that it is very rare for them to roll up when a crime is in progress unless they just happen to be with in a couple of blocks. The lights warn other drivers that they may be speeding or doing other things that cars normally don't do.

In many states, obstructing or cutting into or through a funeral procession is considered a moving violation and carries a fine, usually a small fine.
