Such a beautiful, sweet song. One of my all-time favorites and incredibly underrated. Not only do Mandy and Madonna sound incredible but Madonna is so beautiful in this footage.
It sure did. It got kinda screwed by the release of The Immaculate Collection (which also included Vogue, why would people buy I'm Breathless by then?). Sooner or later would've been #1 with that Oscar performance. The singles she released instead (Vogue being a great track on its right and all) don't really sell this particular album very well.
I will never forget her acknowledging Stephen Sondheim and how it was a privilege. This song connected both Mandy Patinkin, 88 Keys to Madonna's, Breathless. It's magic. Thank you for editing the song with the film. My memory of their duet took me to the "Waltz for Eva and Che."
Stephen Sondheim died today (11/26/2021) age 91 at his home in New York. My favorite of his songs were two that he composed (words & music) for the soundtrack of the 1991 movie DICK TRACY - the least popular album (poorest sales) Madonna ever recorded - but the only one of hers I own. [Correction: These songs by Sondheim were not on the "Dick Tracy Soundtrack" album. They were found on Madonna's BREATHLESS which included Vogue and Hanky Panky -- the real reason that album sold "7 million copies worldwide."] “Sooner or Later” won Mr. Sondheim his “Best Original Song” Academy Award. My other favorite from the film was “What Can You Lose.” This one. Not so strong melodically (no matter how many times I hear it I can't hum the tune) but achingly beautiful harmonies and a poignant lyric about “being friends” and not lovers. Thanks for sharing this Hi-Def version Rodolfo Abreu. Celebrated elsewhere this night [search] " Great Melody, Great Lyric, Great Rendition, Songwriting Workshop, Harmony Central "
Your statement is incorrect. "I'm Breathless: Music from and inspired by the film Dick Tracey" is one of Madonna's most successful LPs, and has sold over 7 million copies worldwide. That places it well above the sales of "Erotica", "American Life", "MDNA" and several others. You could have easily checked that information on Wikipedia.
@@brendan-kailerlieb4347 Thanks for the correction, Brendan-Kailer Lieb. I purchased my copy 30 years ago -- on cassette. Remember those? A Wise Man at the now defunct Sinatra Family Forum provided me with that same info -- immediately -- and that the sales in the U.S. were 2 million and here in "10% Canada" -- 200 thousand. Forgot to come back and correct myself. Old and stupid. P.S. Agree with a kindred spirit (below) GABBY B who wrote "10 months ago" about the real reason this Madonna album sold so well: "These songs" she said, "would've been GREAT singles for this album instead of just Vogue/Hanky Panky. Could've easily been chart toppers for her in 1990" [or not].
That's Mandy Patinkin - better known to millions as “Inigo Montoya: You killed my father, prepare to die” - in the Princess Bride. Remember? Maybe my favorite six minutes in all of film history: for the sword fight, ending with, "Kill me quickly." "I would as soon destroy a stain glass window, as an 'artist' like yourself. However. Since I can't have you following me either . . . " ua-cam.com/video/WDlZ_SXx5gA/v-deo.html

I've loved this song from the first time I heard it. Thanks for posting this. Happy 2024!

Stunning. I always felt that movie and album deserved more videos than just Vogue

@@gabbyb7347 Thanks, Gabby B for another astute, informed note.
Why doesn't she makes this kind of music anymore; 'cause lesse is more...🤔

The great composer Stephen Sondheim believed in Madonna’s talent!!
Yes, he did!
And she became a better performer because of Stephen.
RIP Stephen Sondheim.
Mandy's voice though...
STUNNING!
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. Wonder why she has never sung it live, i know she did not write it but this version is best !!!!!
Maybe Mandy Pataki was not available for promotion? Although she didn't perform More either. What can you lose got a Golden Globe nomination
@@gabbyb7347 And also from Dick Tracy, Stephen Sondheim's "Best Original Song" Oscar-winner, SOONER OR LATER. Thanks for the informed note, Gabby B.
Nice ..but certainly not "one of the most beautiful songs ever written". Your just another "Madonna" freak. Lol
She can’t
@@vulturedancer what do you mean she can't? In what sense?
Well if this is Mandy, what a voice.
RIP Stephen Sondheim.
Looks absolutely gorgeous.
Great memories
Beutiful !
Very nice work !
Es una hermosa balada !!!
Perfeito
These songs would've been GREAT singles for this album instead of just Vogue/Hanky Panky. Could've easily been chart toppers for her in 1990
A sequel could have involved 88 Keys seeking revenge on Tracy -- thinking the latter shot Breathless -- and it could have been insanely tragic.

October 9. 2022. Louise, if you come in Zagreb (Croatia) as PART of GOD'S SPACE INTERNATIONAL the (or THE) or PROGRAM, WHAT CAN YOU LOSE ?
At that time yes. Not now. People want tokishas now 😥
Is it just me or does Mandy’s singing sounds better than Madonna. Not knocking Madonna, but Mandy just stands out more. Just saying.
Who do you think you are taking Madonna's Work & Putting your name under it? Theif.
Was any money being changed?
